Zell Tsukiko (ぜる とすきこ, Zeru Tosokiko) also known as Immature Assassin (おさないしかく, Osanai Shikaku)is the No.5 in the Society of Darkness and renowned for his monstrous strength. He is a well known and respected Shinigami, who was once predicted to be a future captain in the Gotei 13. Being one of the feared 15 members of the Society of Darkness, he has considerable power and also has a big bounty on his head. Unlike most members in the Society of Darkness, Zell is often causing lots of trouble and usually boasts about him being in SOD. Despite his appearance, bounty hunters know of his reputation and his nickname. Zell is also known as one of the best and most famous swordsman, he is considered legendary and has unimaginable skill.

Prior to becoming a member of the Society of Darkness he was a prodigy, easily being able to out perform all the other students as well as the instructors. The only problem they encountered was Zell's stubborn and regardless personality. After graduating from the academy with ease, Zell was about to be put into the third division, due to his killing ability. Though 3 days after graduating, Zell had left in order to find power and discover new things as well as the excitement of adventure. A man once aligned with Soul Society, now aligned with a neutral organization which is one of the most wanted groups. During this journey Zell was on, he was encountered by Zero a shinigami who kindly asked for his help. Zell obviously accepted without a doubt in his mind, he also now has a astonishing bounty from just joining the infamous Society of Darkness. He now currently resides with the other 14 elite member in SIO.

confident silver eyes which can give his comrades belief in him. Zell's hair is medium length, messy white hair which is combed in many different directions, which also covers his forehead. He has a dark blue scarf which covers his whole neck, he also has a lavender kosode which covers most of his body. He has a red hakama which covers the whole of his legs and he has a tabi and waraji on his feet. Zell also has bandages wrapped around his hands on both of his arms. Imprinted on the kosode is a symbol which is the symbol of his former clan. Attached to his hakama is two of his swords which are on his left waist, ready for a quick draw. The sleeves on his kosode reach down past his elbows and the hakama reaches down to his ankles. Holding up his hakama is a red belt and also wears a blue under shirt. Although Zell is fairly small, his strength is astonishing for his physique, on his body it is not completely muscle though. Zell is usually slumped and does not keep his back straight. He also has two black wristbands which are placed slightly above where they should be.

Prior to joining Society of Darkness, Zell's appearance in the academy consisted of a standard Shihakushō (死覇装,Garment of Dead Souls) with a black kosode, a black hakama, a black shitagi, a white tabi and a straw waraji. Due to Zell not liking the average clothes, he altered the set of clothes so that the black kosode now had now no sleeves and he has slightly shortened the length of the hakama. This allows Zell to be able to move around more freely, he uses this as his battle gear and his daily gear.

Whilst in the human world, Zell would make use of a gigai. His hair and facial features stay the same as well as his physique in his spirit form, his clothing changes significantly though. He wears a sleeveless black top which reveals his muscles in his arm. He wears baggy shorts which fall just below his knees, and he wears white trainers. His top and shorts show resemblance to how he looked when he was in the academy with the sleeves taken off and his short size altered. He has been described to look like an average teenager when in this appearance but it suits him. Many other girls who see him often try to flirt with him or usually make a compliment about his appearance.

As a child, Zell was still roughly the same height as he is now and his physique was fairly similar. Only his clothes and hairstyle was different. He had silver hair which was spiked up and it slanted left, he also had a dark blue headband which held his hair up. Zell had a dark blue mask which covered the bottom half of his face, he had dark blue sleeves which came down from the elbow to the wrist. Covering his body was a dark blue tight shirt which was connected to a black belt. On his sleeves he had metal armguards and he had a more lighter blue band wrapped around the top half of the sleeve. On the left side of Zell's neck he had a brown pouch which carried small knives. Zell's trousers were dark blue and they went down to his shins, below the trousers are white bandages covering the ankles. He wore dark blue shoes which covered his ankle area, on the thigh area on his trousers are two strips of white bandages which were tied tightly around his thigh.

After the two year timeskip, Zell's appearance had changed. Zell's face looked much maturer now, his body was lean and very muscular and he had grown four inches. His white hair had grown longer and now was spiked up more. His clothes were relatively similar to his previous clothes with the exception of them being longer as Zell grew. Many females seemed to have made lots of compliments on Zell's appearance, as he now looks much more like an adult then a child. He appeared to have hardly any fat on his body as it was mostly muscle, his clothes were also baggy.

Personality[]

Zell has been described as an immature and silly boy, who is always causing some kind of trouble. He is stubborn in battle and out of battle, during battle he will not back down or give up even when he is completely mismatched in terms of strength, out of battle he has to be told continuosly to do something. Due to his reckless side, he is often causing huge amounts of trouble for himself and the organization. He is often repremanded by Haijō Kobushi for many of his destructive and troublesome actions. He has also shown his hate towards women, as he is constantly bothered and hit by them and he can't hit them back. But due to Haijō having high respect for women, he is often berated by Haijō whenever Zell insults a woman. In battle Zell often annoys and aggravates his opponents as he usually just plays around with them. He has been shown to keep his cool and sarcastic side in battle even when pushed to the limit. Although reckless and ignorant, Zell can be easily relied on for many tough situations. One of Zell's hates is when someone comments about his height and physique, this usually ends up in Zell getting too angry and punching the person making the comment. Zell is very lazy, as shown whenever he is given a task he usually leaves it to Haijō to do it for him. Despite his ignorance to the other members in the organization, he holds a fair amount of their respect due to his fighting prowess and ability to protect his subordinates. Zell has rarely been shown to show any determination in anything, although he has noted that he wishes to grow stronger, so he can boast about how much stronger he is then Haijō.

Although Zell is very lazy, he is very fond of training as he is always looking to improve on his skills to become even stronger. He would train heavily for many days, trying to perfect a technique which he has just learnt. Zell has admitted that he lusts for strong opponents so that he can try out his perfected techniques. He hates being ordered around as he believes that everyone should do whatever they wish to do, but this is usually forgotten whenever Zell is bribed. Zell often contradicts his lazy side, as he trains hard and wastes a lot of energy but whenever asked to do something which isn't for his benefit he will not do it. Growing up in poverty, Zell has grown to despise and hate rich individuals or families, just the mere sight of them will cause Zell to show aggression towards them. When his friends are put on the line, Zell's personality will change completely as he will become very protective and unselfish. He is known to be an attention seeker, since whenever an event has happened he will often do something immature or destructive to grab his subordinates attention. When he is not given the attention, Zell will often sulk and act like an immature brat. When provoked Zell will easily anger and lose his concentration and become relentless with his actions. A trait noticed by his fellow friends is that Zell will nearly always seek revenge for someone who has hurt his pride or his close friends. Zell has shown his lack of patience as, whenever he tries to complete a puzzle he will often chuck it down and take his anger out on someone or something.

If Zell happens to lose in a battle, he would be destraught for many weeks and he would stop anything he would do even including his training. Zell has shown to have a great sense of humour, as he is constantly laughing at jokes and saying jokes. Many find his sense of humour immature and annoying, though Zell still says it to be annoying. He is often in an argument with one of the members due to him never accepting that he is wrong, Zell usually takes the arguments to far and often hurts the persons feelings. Whenever he has upset someone, he finds it very hard to apologise, because of his stubborn personality he will not apologise properly. One of Zell's favorite hobbies is playing on the technology of the human world, especially games. Usually Zell would jump at the chance to go to the human world, just to see the technology and play on it.

Zell has shown to have great confidence in his ability and his comrades ability. His confidence has rose to a point to that he won't even release his shikai against a captain. Zell's confidence has grown so much to a point where he is arrogant. Whenever his friend or comrade are in the enviroment watching him fight, he will try to show off by using cocky and flashy moves while messing around with them. Zell has shown to show great empathy towards people in poverty and will even go through the trouble to help them, these are the only type of people Zell shows this kind side to him. Underneath Zell's flashy and cocky personality is a boy acting like that to try and cover up his bad and sad childhood. He has been seen to never be able to take a joke, as seen when his friends makes jokes about his height. Zell has sometimes been described by his elders as a "little shit" often because of the evil and disrespectful jokes and pranks he plays, though Zell relishes the reaction. Zell has also shown his sarcastic side, especially when conplimenting someone. He has been known to have a short temper, as seen by whenever the slightest bit of critiscm or whenever he is insulted, Zell will snap and lose his cool and calm nature and just become angry.

Zell has also started to gain an interest in perverted books, although when asked about this he will get embarrassed and walk off. Zell is known to have no sense of responsibility as shown when he never calls himself responsible for anything. He hates being left alone as he gets bored, he usually must always be in someones company otherwise he ends up becoming lifeless and tired. Once Zell matured, he started to lessen his hate towards women as he became much more maturer, though he is still as harsh as he was before he matured. Zell has been known to never listen to advice, but with rare occasions he listens to Haijō's advice as he respects Haijō the most.

Haijō Kobushi[]

Zell's relationship with Haijō, is that of a student-mentor type relationship. When Zell steps out of line or causes trouble for anyone Haijō is always there to stop him and correct his mistakes. Being the less mature one, Zell tries to get Haijō to do silly things, but often fails miserably. When they are seen working together, they are unstoppable and always get the job done. Often, Zell partners with Haijō for most missions and reconaissance. Zell rarely manages to catch Haijō to talk to him about things other than work, as Haijō is usually doing cleanup of all of the other work. Although Zell does not show it, he cares for Haijō and he will always try and impress Haijō even in the smallest of ways.

Kouken (こうけん, Guardian): A simple piece of clothing which was handed down from his father to him as his dying will. It is a blue scarf which Zell is seen always wearing, no matter what. It has been handed down through many generations from father to son, and now it is in the possession of Zell. It is said that this scarf will protect the person to who it was willed to, its protection as stated by Zell is "this scarf will not let you die before it is your time, until you have passed it on. It will use all of its power to keep you alive." One of the only items that remains from his family before they were annihilated, Zell treasures this and holds it very dearly. If someone were to even touch it without permission, Zell would go ballistic.

even a skill level of Zell can't control, which often leads to Zell giving his presence away because of the constant leaking. Since Zell's potential is unmatched, he will soon be able to control his massive amount of energy, Zero even stated that "Zell's perfected energy manipulation would nearly be able to match my amount of energy." coming from Zero (who doesn't respect Zell that much) means a huge amount to Zell. The mere volume of it, even overwhelms Zell and he struggles to combat it once released. When Zell releases his spiritual energy and dark and threatening aura forms around his body, due to the weight of it Zell has to bend his knees in order to stand with his energy released. He can even push a captain to their knees and sometimes a higher tier captain when they are unprepared. Due to Zell's lack of ability to control his mass amount of energy, his usage in the art of kido is completely useless. Zell has found a way to get the spiritual energy in his body to flow faster and more efficiently. The aura which is formed around Zell accelerates all of his skills and physique. This amount of energy is so large that, whenever someone who is below liutenant level approaches him while his

spiritual energy is released has a chance of being knocked out or worse, dying! If Zell has released his spiritual energy it is because he can't fight without it, usually Zell becomes slightly more serious when fighting, as his spiritual energy is so massive he has to concentrate on not falling from the shear mass of his energy. He has developed a special technique, which uses his huge amount of spiritual energy to his advantage. This is usually used simultaneously after he releases his energy. Even at less than a eighth of his strength, he has shown to be able to take down a menos with no effort whatsoever. It is unbelievably overwhelming, due to this Zell is rarely seen tiring which means he is resilience and amount of energy is huge. Zell has shown though to have some control over it as he can concentrate his energy into points in his sword to peform strong sword techniques which use his energy. Zell's energy is also enhanced with his natural earth ability, so that whenever his energy is leaking he causes mini earthquakes and the ground to begin to crack immensly.

Kouken Reiki (こうけんれいき, Guardian Aura): A technique invented by Zell, which was made in order for Zell to use his massive spiritual energy as a shield-like aura. Zell uses his scarf to transmitt his spiritual energy to form a thick aura which surrounds his body. He uses this energy to form a thick silver aura which surrounds his whole body and acts as a shield. It is seen to be very durable as it can easily take medium level kido and still be unharmed.

Killing Intent: As Zell is primarily an assassin, and has been trained as a child to be a skilled assassin, he has developed an

exclusive aura which he can project from himself which sends an extremely vicious and terrifying aura which can be amplified by the amount of killing intent he has. An assassins killer intent gradually grows, the stronger an assassin gets, as Zell's killer intent is extremely large and dangerous, it shows that Zell has been an assassin for long and has grown extremely fast as he is still young. Due to his killing intent being so developed, it can be seen as a giant monster like being which forms over everyone within his range. Zell's killing intent can be used to often scare away many enemies who are fairly weak which allows him to ignore them.

Enhanced Strength: Due to Zell's frequent training, he has gradually grown to have a significant amount of strength, although not comparable to that of Zero and Haijō it is still great. He has shown his strength when he can easily apply huge amount of pressure in his sword swings which are strong enough to easily push his opponent down, it can also create a shockwave if he focuses his power. He has also been shown to be able to produce great force behind his melee strikes.

Immense Speed: Zell's most advanced traits as stated by others. His reflexes have been shown to be amazing, as he can dodge and avoid most point-blank strikes which are at a high speed. Zell's speed is easily fast enough to keep up with shunpo and other high speed techniques. He has been shown to completely devastate an opponent with his high speed strikes. Some opponents of Zell have described him as "Untouchable" because of their inability to see him or hit him. Zell can easily dodge high speed sword thrusts at a constant rate without any mistakes, even being able to dodge Zero's strikes with just scratches. Zell has been shown to be able to keep up with Zero and even copy his movements, something which is stated to be near-impossible for other high level shinigami to do. Zell has developed many techniques revolving around his speed.

Zell technique 9

Jūryoku Tenka

  • Jūryoku Tenka (重力点火, Gravitational Ignition): Zell's fastest technique and one of his most surprising techniques. At the start of this technique Zell appears to fall deliberately and when the opponent is least expecting something, Zell uses the forward speed of the gravity from the fall to give him a brief moment of acceleration. He then doubles that acceleration by using his knowledge of all the muscles in his body to maximize the peformance of his muscles therefore using the speed from the gravity and his muscles to gain immense acceleration. Once he has closed the gap in a split second Zell then slashes at their chest with great power aimed to cut straight through his opponent.. This technique is easily the fastest technique Zell has and can only be stopped with someone of equal speed. Since Zell has great physical strength he can increase his speed by two times. The only weakness of this technique is that Zell has to be within a certain distance as the peformance of his muscles cannot stay at max due to him tiring fast.

    Jūryoku Tenka Kaitei

    • Jūryoku Tenka Kaitei (重力点火改訂, Gravitational Ignition Revised): A technique which Zell advanced further. Although this is an improved version of Jūryoku Tenka, it is actually much slower and requires much more energy and use of Zell's muscles because of the slower speed people who have seen it say it is worse than his Jūryoku Tenka. At the start of this technique Zell would have to get them in the same range in which Jūryoku Tenka needs. Then once in range he falls just like he would in his basic version then instead of going forward he goes diagonally. He then maximizes the peformance of his muscles, once at max speed he uses the immense acceleration to diagonally go from three points until he is behind his opponent. Then once behind his opponent he will slash down attempting to cut his opponent in half. This technique is much harder to follow as it looks like Zell disappears because of the three super accelerations he uses. This puts amazing strain on his lower body especially his foot muscles and calf muscles.
    • Jūryoku Tenka Bājon Hibiki (重力点火バージョンひびき, Gravitational Ignition Version Hibiki): A technique which was created when Zell and Hibiki worked together for the first time. A technique very similar to his Jūryoku Tenka, though this technique is combined with Hibiki's ability and it also has a huge range due to Hibiki in this technique. Preparing for this technique Zell would fall like he would in Jūryoku Tenka but the moment he uses the acceleration from the momentum of the fall, Hibiki sends a flame typhoon aimed at Zell's lower body. This then quadrouples Zell's speed and gives him what Zell calls "Ignition Acceleration", this Ignition Acceleration provides Zell with a much higher speed and range than what he would have in Jūryoku Tenka. Halfway through reaching the opponent, Hibiki will then make the typhoon engulf Zell but just giving Zell enough space to not get hurt. Then once Zell is at the opponent, Hibiki brings the typhoon away from Zell and fires it at the opponent. After Hibiki has done this Zell will use the last spark of Hibiki's flame to gain Ignition Acceleration once more, then he

  • Gengetsu Kagizaki (げんげつかぎざき, Crescent Tear): A technique created by Zell in order to take out a large amount of opponents in a short time. Preparing for this technique Zell would lift his sword just above eye level and he would bend his legs in order for the following movement. Zell starts to move at an immense speed in a diagonal format, during this hyper speed time Zell gets behind his opponents and slices them in half. Due to the immense speed of this movement, it looks just like one sword swing.

Enhanced Durability: Zell has been repeatedly able to show how he can take a beating and still be able to fight at the same level. Though his physique is that of a child, Zell actually has a hard body which is capable of taking brutal strikes and not being cut deeply. Zell is much more mentally durable then physically as shown when he can easily see weaknesses and wasted movements in attacks allowing him to strike his opponents weakpoint. His physical durability is also enhanced by Zell's stubborn personality of not wanting to give up or lose, being a perfectionist Zell will always get back up constantly believing he is perfect and cannot lose. He has been shown to withstand fatal injuries enough to even kill a shinigami, although he has also shown a limit to his durability as he can only fight at the same rate with injuries for a short time.

Master Swordsmanship Specialist: Zell's most frequent type of combat is using his sword. His most threatening and scary ability, Zell has shown to be a master with his sword. Zell is noted to have a very unorthodox fighting style with his sword, he would bend his knees so that he is smaller and he will seperate his feet at a shoulder distance. He will then draw one of his three swords and hold it so that it's hilt is facing the opponent, this is noted to be a very awkward style to fight against as it is unpredictable the movements and Zell becomes even smaller. Zell is seen to use three swords, although he is most frequently seen using one sword he has been shown to be able to simultaneously draw and sheathe his swords at different times making it look like he is holding three swords. The speed between his swapping of swords is so great that many cannot see where the next strike is coming from, even higher tier captains struggle to predict and counter the strikes. Being able to use three swords allows Zell to attack rapidly from most angles with a great amount of force and speed. Zell has also shown great control over his swords, as he can fight and dispatch of hundreds of enemies in a very tight hallway with no wasted movements and with his sword touching none of the walls. One of Zell's most frightening features with the sword is that he can use his knowledge of the vital points in the body to pinpoint fast and effective strikes at them, also due to the awkward style of his strikes they are very hard to counter making this a very hard and scary ability to deal with. Zell's usual fighting style is that of a master playing with a student, as he often uses his sheathe and the back of his sword to trip up and hit the opponent. When Zell is serious and is pushed, he often uses his great speed to evade attacks while positioning himself in the best possible position for a counter attack. His swordsmanship skill combined with his immense speed and enhanced strength become deadly and a definite threat to whoever comes across it.

  • Kussaku Harikēn (掘削ハリケーン, Drilling Hurricane): A technique Zell created during his training in the

    time-skip. A technique of devastating power and amazing speed, if used correctly it can tear a hole straight through a hardened body with ease. It is a sword thrust created by having a sudden turn in the body then focusing all of your momentum into his sword, which creates the drill-like appearance. Then Zell focuses his spiritual energy into the tip of his sword, then thrusts with great power forming a drilling thrust which could easily break through a tight guard.
  • Hitotsume: Nadegiri ( 一つ目・撫で斬り, "The First: Killing Stroke"): A swift sword strike that is more than capable of dispatching multi-story-high targets protected by hardened skin (such as Hierro or the Custode) with only a single, precision cut. It can also accomplish the same feat when used against Kidō defenses. Broken down, Hitotsume: Nadegiri is a technique that manipulates the users spiritual power into the motion of the stroke. When performing the "killing stroke" the user transfers the full force of their spiritual power as though it were "mass" through their sword and then through the air. The strike itself is the medium, with the end result manifesting as a devastating wave of pure reiatsu. It is an attack that encompasses all of one's "power" into a singular strike; which is why it is often a lethal strike. Zell's earliest learned sword technique, therefore Zell has perfected this and can peform it naturally with no effort during a battle.
  • Daishi: Afurete (第四・あふれて, "The Fourth: Overflowing"): A technique which incorporates the fundamental practices of Zanjutsu, Hohō and fine spiritual control. Before Zell uses the technique he channels huge amounts of his spiritual energy into his zanpakutō causing it to grow the colour of red. Zell then uses a swift movement to move to his opponents back, he then proceeds to use a backwards pierce at extreme speeds. Zell then releases the energy into an overwhelming wave of spiritual force causing a shockwave, as Zell is naturally attuned to earth the wave forms spikes of earth.
  • Daihachi: Hien (第八:ひえん, "The Eighth: Swallow in Flight"): A technique where the user makes a single vertical or horizontal slash at extremely fast speeds at an opponents back, which includes two extreme feats of Shunpo - one to take them behind the foe and another to retreat. Zell has managed to master this technique by mastering the combination of balance, coordination, speed, reflexes, strength, endurance and stamina. Zell has enhanced this by using his great speed in order to peform this technique two steps faster, which makes the opponent see him as a blur. If the opponent is in possession of wings or other types of growth of their back, they are usually cut clean off.
  • Jūichi: Senmaioroshi (十一:千枚卸, "The Eleventh: Thousand-Page Wholesale"): A demanding sword technique where multiple blade movements take place so fast that they can shred an opponent into tiny pieces. Since Zell has great speed and skill, he can maximise the peformance of this technique. Prior to peforming the sword strikes, Zell coats his sword in his spiritual energy in order to harden the blade whilst sharpening the tip of Zell's blade. The sharpened tip allows Zell to incorporate his enhanced strength into the strikes dealing much more damage then the fast strikes usually would. Zell has also shown to efficiently use this technique at close range and be able to cut them into pieces within a short amount of time.
  • Jūyon: Tora Enshin (十四:虎延伸, "The Fourteenth: Tiger Draw"): Placing his sheathed zanpakuto upright behind him and syncronizing his breathing with that of his opponent, Zell begins the technique by rapidly unsheathing, attacking, and sheathing his sword once more in a similar fashion to that of Iaido striking most opponents before they even have a chance to react. Zell is often seen using this at the start of a battle, he has also shown that he can use this technique in order to dispatch of multiple enemies in a quick amount of time.
  • Daijūroku: Gobōsei no Ken (第十六:五芒星の剣, "The Sixteenth: Pentagram Sword"): Channelling spiritual energy into Zell's blade, Zell performs a series of five slashes at blistering speeds in a pattern that resembles a star. Because of Zell's immense speed, it appears as though Zell is swinging his sword once but Zell is actually unleashing blows concurrently allowing all of the blows to make impact at the same time. The slashes close on the enemy from all sides to create a prison, allowing no chance for defense or evasion. It should be noted that if the foe deflects one, then the others will surely hit, and due to the close range, if the opponent attempts to escape, the blade will quickly cut them down. However, during the process of slashing, a small opening is revealed for those with trained eyes: a tiny opening between their right arm and waist.

Experienced Hakuda Practitioner: Zell's skill in the art of Hakuda is great, as he can incorporate strong blows within his sword strikes as well as just relying on his Hakuda to dispatch of opponents without much effort. The force behind his strikes as described by Zero is that "His strikes are efficient, strong and fast. None of his movements are wasted allowing Zell to maximise the damage of his strikes using the least effort possible." Zell often only uses hand-to-hand combat for opponents who he knows he can easily take care of, as Zero stated he has no wasted efforts it is noted that Zell rarely uses any energy whilst using these strikes. He incorporates his immense speed along with his strikes in order to deal devastating blows within a few seconds, which can be completely demoralizing for the opponent as he leaves many after-images when using his great speed. Zell can use many different parts of his body to attack and deal damaging blows. He uses his natural element of earth to his advantage by punching the ground in order to make the surroundings harder for the opponent to be able to fight in. Zell uses his vast knowledge of the anatomy of the body in order to deliver short and fast blows to vital points, as well as applying pressure to the opponents pressure points.

Taekwondo User: Zell has shown to be able to use Taekwondo efficiently. Although Zell has short legs he uses his speed advantage in order to get in close and deliver kicks or use his great speed to send many kicks at once. His kicks are noted to be snappy and very sharp in accuracy, as he can hit vital points with ease. His style of fighting while using Taekwondo is usually waiting to counter and hit the opponents blind spot as his kicks have a fairly short range.
Muay Thai User: Due to Zell's height he needed a martial art other than Taekwondo as his range is limited. Since Muay Thai is mainly close range stand up striking and clinching, Zell can use his height to his advantage. His blows have great precision and great force behind them, enough force to break his opponents bones. When using Muay Thai his style of fighting is very offensive, also he is noted to be quite a dirty fighter when he uses Muay Thai by poking his opponents eyes etc. Zell has managed to master the leg techniques of this martial art but has not bothered to learn the arm techniques as he uses another martial art to use his arms.
Karate User: Since Karate is mostly based around striking and one handed techniques, Zell incorporates the strikes into his Muay Thai and Taekwondo. As Zell has great knowledge of the vital points in the human body, Zell can use his strikes to the fullest being able to hit a vital point with precision aim and speed, as Zell's speed is so great his lightning-fast strikes are near-impossible to counter and dodge. Zell has shown to be proficient in using the throws in Karate as he can lift a man twice his size and throw him over his back or take him down.
  • Ikkotsu (一骨, "Single Bone'"): A powerful punch which Zell has mastered as he is skilled in the art of Hakuda. When Zell uses this technique is that he can destroy his opponents whole ribcage completely wrecking it. If hit by this the opponent will be hit hard enough to go flying through concrete buildings.
  • Sōkotsu (双骨, "Double Bone"): Stronger than Ikkotsu, it is a powerful two-fisted punch that Zell uses if the opponent manages to fight back after being hit by his Ikkotsu. The attack in one blow can totally destroy an opponent.
  • Raiōken (雷王拳, "Thunder King Fist"): A Hakuda technique involving a series of rapid punches. Due to Zell's immense speed he can double the amount of punches which are usually used, he can also destroy a town partly due to the force of the strikes.
  • Sandbag Beat (サンドバッグ・ビート, "Sandobaggu Bīto"): A technique where Zell delivers multiple devastating strikes at a extremely fast pace which causes aggravated damage to a target. Zell has used this to take out many Menos Grande by completely destroying it's mask and body.

Shunpo Expert: Zell has shown to be incredibly capable of using many high leveled shunpo techniques. He can incorporate his shunpo into his sword strikes or his Hakuda in order to deliver decimating strikes at an overwhelming pace. Already fast enough to keep up with a high leveled opponent using shunpo while he is not, once Zell uses shunpo his speed becomes so overwhelming that even a higher tier captain would be completely outclassed. With speed being Zell's main attribute, Zell has nearly perfected his skill in the art of Shunpo by wasting no movements and being able to use the difficult shunpo techniques with ease. He can use his shunpo in order to attack from unpredictable angles and can completely confuse his opponent by leaving many after-images of himself, with the opponent left wondering which one is the real one. Zell's acceleration is great and he can reach his top speed in a matter of second, easily making him one of the fastest shinigami in the Society of Darkness. By incorporating his shunpo with his sword strikes he can easily leave blind spots on the opponent due to their attention being diverted in order to try and find Zell, while Zell can easily thrust and stab at the opponent with lightning-fast strikes. He has claimed to know nearly all of the shunpo techniques and to of nearly mastered them, even most of the Onmitsukidō's techniques.

  • Senka (閃花, "Flash Blossom"): A special shunpo technique where Zell moves behind the opponent to directly attack and seal one's "Saketsu" and "Hakusui" in two fast stabs. Since Zell has made his speed overwhelming, only shinigami with a highly trained eye to be able to even see his after image. The speed of this technique is so great, that the opponent will not be able to tell whether they were attacked from the front or from behind. Being a master in the art of Shunpo, Zell can easily use Senka to it's fullest.
  • Hikarakuyō (飛花落葉, "Blossoms Fall and Leaves Scatter"): A special shunpo technique where the user, where Zell manipulates his spiritual flow to accelerate his speed to a point where Zell's movements leave semi-sentient afterimages to form behind Zell, which follow Zell's exact movements. He continues this for a brief period of time. During Zell's use of this technique he uses the movements to attack his opponent in random angles.
  • Way of Onmitsu, 3rd of the Shihō: Shihō no San - Utsusemi (志穂ないサンません - 空蝉, Cicada, referencing their molting): It allows Zell to move at great speed leaving behind a afterimage behind. The after image may even appear to have taken damage. Zell often uses this to get into a position where he can attack the opponent in their blind spot.
  • Way of Onmitsu, 5ft of the Shihō: Hanmyōka (死楓の五•ハンミョウ科; "Fifth of the Shihō - Tiger Beetle, referencing their running"): For this technique Zell speeds up the spiritual flow within his body immensely allowing his speed to become so great, that he becomes completely invisible to the naked eye. His motions can only be peformed in a straight line, Zell has made this ability in order to chase people down for a short distance. Zell cannot use this technique for long distance as it gives Zell no visibility whatsoever.

Kidō Practitioner: Zell has shown to have a very limited, if not no ability in the arts of kidō. Due to kidō requiring the user to be able to control their spiritual energy, Zell cannot use kidō due to his vast amount of energy Zell lacks the ability to control it. He has also said that he could not even use the most basic of kidō, due to how overwhelming his energy was. Zell has been seen to be able to try and use kidō but he has often failed and gives up.

Keen Intellect and Cunning: Zell is very smart and cunning, as he has shown to be able to devise a cunning plan or figure things out in his head. Although Zell would be annihilated by Haijō Kobushi and Zero Xerxes in a battle of wits, he is still very smart. Due to Zell's childish and sarcastic behaviour during battle, this can deceive his opponent and leave them open for surprise. Zell uses his intelligence by using this trait to his advantage and catching the opponent off guard with strong strikes.

Vast Knowledge of Human Anatomy: Zell has shown to have a great amount of knowledge about Human anatomy. As shown during most battles Zell has been capable of using his knowledge to strike vital points in his opponents body, then striking them in certain place for paralysis. This has shown to be devastating in battle as Zell can easily paralyze and dispatch of an opponent with only few strikes. Zell can also use the maximum effect of his muscles allowing him to use every inch of his muscle, which gives him the best possible speed and power generated. This is what allows him to use super acceleration in most of Zell's techniques.

Extraordinary Growth Rate: Zell's growth rate easily can be compared to Zero's ability to grow. He could achieve what most shinigami's could in years, within a few days without tiring. Due to this amazing growth rate, he will be able to learn how to control his spiritual energy soon. Zell can easily grasp the concept and steps behind a move or technique with just a matter of seeing it a few times, he can then try and copy it.

Tsurara Ikari (つららいかり, Ice Wrath), also nicknamed Yuki to kōri kami (雪と氷の神, Snow and Ice God) is the name of Zell's zanpakutō. The nickname for his zanpakutō is that because of how similar it is to the Norse God of Ice and Snow, Ull. It was compared to Ull due to its dominance over ice and water, as noted by Zero "These powers are almost godlike." How Zell managed to acquire this zanpakutō unknown. When sealed Tsurara Ikari takes the form of two katanas which are fairly small. At the bottom of the katanas is a silver ball and on the handle is a black bandage wrapped around it with silver diamond shape patterns on the bandage. Zell has named these blades as Kousetsu (こうせつ, lit. Snow) and Hakuhen (はくへん, lit. Flake). Kousetsu is Zell's most commonly used sword, the shape of the blade is curved but extremely sharp, noted by Zell it is also extremely light making it a fast but lethal sword. The blade has two colours, the sharp side to it is black, on the other side it is coloured a light blue colour. Hakuhen has a much different appearance to Kousetsu and it is used much less frequently then Kousetsu. Hakuhen's appearance is that of a katana except the edges of the blade are very jagged making it have lots of sharp edges which can tear through things. This blade also has two colours, the jagged edge is coloured a jet black while the other side of the edge is silver, Hakuhen is noted to be heavier than Kousetsu.

Shikai: Tsurara Ikari's Shikai form is released with the command "Above the heavens and beneath the hell, let the table of frost rise!". When Zell is about to release his zanpakuto, the air around him starts to get much colder to a point where the opponent can easily feel extremely cold. The moment he does release all the cold air instantly freezes and turns into a cascade of ice which can be dangerous. In terms of shape and design, Tsurara Ikari takes the form of two brutal looking scythes. On the actual blade of the scythes is a extravagant design which represents something though Zell has not made it clear. The scythes have a black curved handle which is attached to the hilt of the scythe, also attached to the hilt are three black spikes which can also be used as a weapon. Wrapped around the hilt and the handle is a light blue bandage. Zell's appearance also changes significantly, his height stays the same but his hair colour changes from white to blue and its style is messy. On his back appears to be sheathes for the scythes but Zell rarely uses them, he gains two metal bracers on each of his wrists as well as fingerless gloves for his hands. Zell's attire changes as well, he gets a black sleeveless top which is connected to a bandana which is wrapped around his neck. On the bandana is three metal clips and coming out of the back of the bandana is bandages. He gains a metal belt which has thin blue bandages tied around it in a cross type shape, he also has white baggy shorts which run down to his ankles changing from white to black as it reaches his shin. The shoes that Zell wears are boots which are coloured white and black with a feint star where the toes are.

Shikai Special Ability: Tsurara Ikari's ability is the complete manipulation of water, ice and snow. It's other partial ability grants Zell the ability to manipulate the temperature of reishi in the area as well as items or materials. By using his manipulation of temperature it allows him to turn his water attacks into ice, he often uses this in rapid combinations to be unpredictable. His overall dominance over ice and water is great, as long as there is water within his radius of ten miles then he can use that. Zell has stated that his control over ice is better than his control over water, as he can instantly produce ice by freezing reishi in the enviroment or by releasing energy through his sword to create ice waves or cascades of ice. His dominance over snow allows him to create blizzards with just a gesture of his hand. The pressure that his water strikes carry can easily wound a shinigami. The sheer aura that Zell gives off can freeze the enviroment, it also appears that Zell is not affected by the ice or cold. One devastating ability that his shikai also grants is that if their is just a drop of water he can turn it into a huge mass of water which engulfs the area. He can also do this with ice, by transmitting his energy into his sword he can release ice which is controlled by the movements of his sword. By forming shapes with his water then instantly freezing it, Zell can create weapons or huge sculptures. Tsurara Ikari is recognised as one of the strongest ice-type Zanpakuto's. Zell has stated that to melt his ice or make his water evaporate, one would have to have an extremely devastating fire-type zanpakuto to cause this.
  • Ibuki no Hyousetsu Kami (いぶきのひょうせつかみ, Breath of the Ice God): A technique using Zell's manipulation of snow. Preparing for this technique, Zell would start to rotate his hands in a circular motion and as he rotates his hands faster the air around him starts to form a small blizzard. After finishing the motion the enviroment will become a strong blizzard, which will blow fiercely. It restricts Zell's opponents vision and it can give frostbite to opponents, it has no effect on Zell due to him being the one who is manipulating it. Zell can also quicken the pace of the blizzard, making it hard to manoever easily this also doesn't effect Zell. The blizzards weakness and the weakness of all of Zell's techniques are that, if a person has a strong enough ice manipulation, whether it be from a zanpakuto or from just being naturally attuned to ice.
    • Ikari (いかり, Rage): A technique which can only be used when Zell has created a blizzard. Preparing to use this, Zell would focus his eyes on where he is aiming and will direct his arms to where he is looking. Then once aimed at the target, Zell will focus the whole of the blizzard into a precise yet powerful attack which takes the form of a beam-like blast.
  • Ikari no Hyousetsu Kami (いかりひょうせつかみ, Anger of the Ice God): A technique where Zell uses his manipulation of water and altering the temperature in the atmosphere. Zell has no preparation for this technique, in fact the opponent will not even know when Zell has used it. Without the opponent knowing, Zell uses the moisture in the air and increases the amount of water in it, the instant he does that he uses his temperature manipulation to freeze it. He can make shapes with the water in order to create certain structures or shapes, depending on the situation.
    • Hakyoku (はきょく, Cataclysm): A technique which can only be used when Zell is increasing the amount of water in the atmosphere. Preparing to use this technique Zell will create a huge amount of water all gathered up in many areas but in clusters, he will then freeze them simultaneously creating huge ice spikes forming wherever he increased the amount of water. The destructive power is enough to destroy many powerful barriers.
    • Zenmetsu (ぜんめつ, Annihilation): A technique which requires Zell to increases the amount of water immensely. Preparing for this technique Zell will
