This article, Yorito Endō, was added by Lecliss who determines its usage on this wiki.

"The Chariot will carry you out of their shadow."

Yorito Endō (淵藤偉人, Endō Yorito) is the third eldest of the Endō children. As with the rest of his siblings, Yorito has been spiritually aware his whole life and his proximity to the Hōgyoku at school has strengthened his awareness. He is the most studious in his family and becomes involved with The Guard after they move to Fubuki City.

Appearance[]

Yorito is a young man with fair skin, blue eyes, and short wavy blue hair. He wears round frameless glasses. When not in the Kazahana Academy uniform, he typically wears a black long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans with a black belt.

Fifteen months after Aizen's defeat, Yorito has slightly shorter hair.

Twelve years after Yhwach's defeat, Yorito wears larger round glasses and a brown suit.

Personality[]

Yorito perceives himself as an ignored middle child, left alone to his own devices by his father who showed the most attention to Iyori, and his mother who was busy taking care of the younger trio. While this was due to his high intelligence and maturity from a young age, he resented it as he saw it as being abandoned by his family. As such, he resolved to prove his place as better than either of his older brothers.

He is very ambitious, spending much of his free time studying and learning, resulting in him being one of the top students in his grade at Karakura High School and later Kazahana Academy. His best subject is math and he often works out equations in his head as a form of stress relief, which Kūzen calls him weird for. He also partakes in creative writing exercises, but he doesn't consider himself much of a creative person. He prefers historical books, but forces himself to read genres out of his comfort zone in order to help him in his writing. However, he can never bring himself to read romance due to the second-hand embarrassment it gives him. Museums and libraries are his favorite places to visit, not only because of the learning opportunity, but because they are usually quiet places as well. Now that the family home in Fubuki City has a personal library, he spends much of his time there.

When at home, Yorito is prone to aggressive outbursts, particularly after interacting with his father. He tries to avoid letting his siblings see it happen. After his father's death, this largely dies down and Yorito starts openly expressing more kindness, both to his younger siblings and Cynthia.

According to Shiemi, Yorito is very bad at talking to girls, but he can't imagine what makes her think that. He is unaware of his own habit of slightly talking down to girls, which is something that he tries to work on after Bia Gomasaki calls him out on it. He even profusely apologies to Cynthia on the off chance that he previously talked to her like that.

History[]

Yorito was born as the third child of Mikado and Hayami Endō. Living in the shadow of his older brothers, Tsuneo and Iyori, he felt ignored. Proving to be highly intelligent early on, Yorito showed that he could take care of himself just fine and so his parents' attention fell onto the other children. As a result, he spent much of his time around the family maid, Mei Takahashi.

With the death of his mother a year after Naoe was born, Yorito mostly blocked out the following several months. They became a blur to him and he barely appeared affected by it, causing Mei to focus on comforting his other siblings over Hayami's death. As a result, Yorito has never properly grieved or come to terms with the loss of his mother.

After Rukia Kuchiki gave her Soul Reaper powers to Ichigo Kurosaki and began attending Karakura High School, Yorito's proximity to her, and therefore the Hōgyoku, on campus led to a strengthening of his spiritual awareness, just the same as with Tatsuki Arisawa and Keigo Asano. He was aware of strange happenings at school and an increase of Hollows around town, but he made an effort to keep his distance from these incidents for his own safety.

Plot[]

Welcome to Fubuki City Arc[]

When Kūzen and Naoe arrive home after school, Yorito and the rest of their siblings are gathered in the living room. Their father announces he is moving the family up to Fubuki City in Hokkaido.

During Yorito's first day at Kazahana Academy, he notices Cynthia Lucille Mirin among his classmates. He acknowledges to himself that she's pretty, but her expression is too stern. After school, Cynthia and Yorito are the only ones walking a specific path to the school entrance. When Yorito senses a Hollow nearby, he warns Cynthia that she should hurry home since it's not safe right now. Assuming he meant because she's a girl intending to walk home alone, she assures him she can take care of herself and that he shouldn't assume she's weak. Yorito corrects her that there's something seriously dangerous nearby and neither of them will be able to do anything about it if they're caught up with it.

Cynthia walks home on her own, but Yorito senses a Hollow in the same direction and follows after her to warn her. He arrives at her location to witness her defeating the Hollow with a rapier. Yorito is shocked to find she has a means to defend herself and Cynthia asks if he has a charm like she does, showing off her rapier turning into the choker she wears. Yorito denies so and says he just has the ability to see and sense things like that. Cynthia wonders if he would make a good ally.

A few days later, Cynthia invites Yorito to come with her to meet some people she knows who have charms just like her. Yorito hesitates, but ultimately agrees. They head to the antique store, Eden Treasures, together and Cynthia introduces Yorito to Bia Gomasaki and Anosuke Delgado, people who also have charms like her. Shuya Yoruhisa introduces himself and says their leader, Seiji, is out right now so Shuya is in charge.

Mother Arc[]

When Iyori calls Yorito to tell him their father is in the hospital after an accident, Cynthia is shocked that Yorito refuses to visit him. Yorito informs her that he hates his father and doesn't care if anything happens to that man. She suggests to Yorito that he might regret it if his father dies and he doesn't take the chance to tell his father how he feels. Yorito refuses and claims he intends to let his father die never knowing who his son really is.

After the Endō siblings defeat the Hollow, Mother, together, Yorito calls Cynthia. He tells her that his father was attacked by a Hollow and didn't survive. He expresses that now that it really happened, he does regret not letting his true thoughts be known. Cynthia promises to be there for him if he wants her to be and he thanks her before hanging up.

Yorito is shocked to witness The Guard announce through the television networks that they're taking over the city. He grows worried that he got wrapped up in the wrong crowd.

The Guard Arc[]

With Cynthia suddenly gone from school and her friends unaware of where she is, Yorito decides to call her and ask where she is so they can talk about Seiji's announcement. She agrees to meet him at a secret spot nearby.

Cynthia explains to Yorito that Seiji's plan was always to take control of Fubuki City from the local government and corporations, and his father was the last obstacle in their way. She says he only intends to protect the city in a way no ordinary person could and they all have good intentions despite the look of things. Frustrated at the absurdity of what he's hearing, Yorito decides he wants nothing to do with it and cuts his ties with The Guard. Cynthia is upset, but lets Yorito leave anyway.

A few days later, Yorito receives a call from a desperate and terrified Cynthia. She says she was arrested and begs him to do something to get her out. Yorito doesn't hesitate to help and swears he'll figure something out. He ends up going to Kūzen and asking if he and Kotsuru can do anything for Cynthia.

When they arrive at the police station, the intention is to let the Soul Reapers do all the work since no one else will be able to see them. However, The Guard arrives and ruins the plan. While everyone is distracted, Yorito searches through the cell keys to find the one for Cynthia's cell. He rescues her and they escape together.

Tsuneo's Decision Arc[]

Kūzen approaches Yorito with Bia's RVC in hand. He explains that he took it from her back at the police station but now doesn't know what to do with it. He suggests handing it over to Cynthia, to which Yorito agrees and takes it to give to Cynthia later. When Yorito and Cynthia see each other at school, Yorito presents the device to her, ask if she wants it. Cynthia considers it for a moment before recommending that Yorito keep it. He claims he doesn't have any use for it, but Cynthia recommends he learn how to fight with it. Yorito initially refuses, certain that he doesn't have any combat skills. Cynthia takes him down the block after school tries to teach him the basics in using a tantō with the RVC. He struggles to really grasp combat, but with Cynthia's encouragement, he decides to commit to learning how to use it. Later at home he modifies the earring so that it can be worn as a necklace since Yorito's ears aren't pierced to be to wear it properly.

Yorito is helping Cynthia with her part-time job at Eden Treasures before heading home. That night he passes by Tsuneo leaving their father's office. He peaks into the office, but isn't sure what could be odd inside since he's never been in it.

When Tsuneo kidnaps Itsuki and reveals to his siblings that Itsuki is actually their half-brother, Yorito initially feels betrayed by Mei, but comes to realize the fault lied with their father. He aids his siblings in subduing Tsuneo and rescuing Itsuki. Yorito is the first to speak with Mei and make sure she's okay, learning the truth that Mei was coerced into the relationship and assuring her that he doesn't blame her.

Shuya and Hojan Arc[]

Yorito assists Momo Hinamori in setting up a barrier to protect the people of Fubuki City from the battle against Hojan Unomunna.

Hunger Arc[]

Fifteen months later, Yorito and Cynthia have begun dating and both are attending Nagano University together. He is taking a business finance course since Tsuneo offered to hire him into the family company's financial division after graduation.

Yorito overhears Shiemi and Cynthia deciding to follow Kūzen out of the house at night. Worried for their safety going out at night, Yorito surprises them by suddenly joining them. However, he denies their assumption that he's doing so out of worry for them. They witness Kūzen leaving the house through his window, but are unable to keep up with him and can only follow his trail from a far distance. They can't confirm exactly what he's doing, but Yorito and Shiemi consistently notice Hollows that they sense suddenly disappearing. Assuming Kūzen is out killing Hollows at night, the trio aren't too worried about it and don't suspect anything is off about it aside from finding it unnecessary of Kūzen to do.

When Kūzen becomes Hollowfied and goes on a rampage, Yorito aids in trying to stop him. He initially agrees that it might not be possible to stop Kūzen without killing him, but then Yorito realizes he doesn't want his little brother to die and becomes opposed to the others who are okay with mercy killing him. He and Cynthia argue with each other since she sides with killing him.

The Thousand-Year Blood War Arc[]

Echoing Jaws of Hell Arc[]

Yorito and Cynthia are now married with a young daughter they named Akina. The family is out at the park when Yorito suddenly senses something strange and advises they return home. Cynthia tries to ask him what's wrong, but they're interrupted by Yorito getting a call from Shiemi. She questions if he sensed something earlier and he says he did and that they'll be heading home now. Growing worried, Cynthia picks up Akina and begins to leave the park with Yorito.

Equipment[]

Notebook: Yorito carries around a small notebook with him everywhere he goes. He uses it not just to write important thoughts, but also interesting things he hears and fascinating information he learns. He has plenty of secrets and confidential information written down, much of which comes from things he overhears from his father. It also contains quite a bit of info on each of The Guard members.

Reishi Visualization Charm: Created by Kisuke Urahara and still in a prototype stage, this device allows anyone in possession of it to become spiritually aware and be able to see Pluses, Hollows, and Soul Reapers. However, it does not allow the owner to detect spiritual pressure. Since it is still a prototype, it does not actually kill Hollows, but simply destabilizes their bodies so they are turned to pure Reishi and then reform later. Yorito's charm previously belonged to Bia and takes the form of a black teardrop earring that he modified to be worn as a necklace. Its weapon form is that of a kissaki-moroha tantō.

Powers & Abilities[]

Spiritual Awareness: While having always been spiritually aware, Yorito's exposure to the Hōgyoku while living in Karakura Town heightened his sensing ability, allowing him to pinpoint the exact location and owner of any source of Reiatsu from a considerable distance. He is regarded as The Guard's most valuable asset as a result.

Excellent Intellect: Yorito is highly intelligent, being ranked one of the smartest students at both Karakura High School and Kazahana Academy, which has much higher standards than Karakura. He can solve complex equations completely in his head with ease. He often pieces together information and clues quicker than anyone else to discover the truth and also helps Naoe with much of his homework.

Weaknesses[]

  • Yorito is legally blind and can barely see without his glasses.

Trivia[]

  • Yorito is voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki in Japanese and Chris Hackney in English.
  • In Japanese, Yorito refers to himself as “watashi” and to both Tsuneo and Iyori as “nii-san”.
  • Yorito is represented in a tarot deck by The Chariot.
  • Yorito's design is based off Iku Mizushima from Starry Sky.

Quotes[]

  • (To Cynthia about Mikado) "I don't care if he dies. He's nothing to me. He barely even knows I exist let alone anything about me. He'll probably just mistake me for Iyori with a haircut. We would all be better off with him dead anyway."
