This article, Yin, was added by Seireitou who determines its usage on this wiki.

"I am known to you mortals as "Yin", the sister of "Yang". I created the Jinki Fragments. I've been waiting for you, Minato. You have many questions, and although the process has altered your consciousness, you remain irrevocably mortal. Ergo, some of my answers you will understand, and some of them you will not. Concordantly, while your first question may be the most pertinent, you may or may not realize it is also the most irrelevant. You are here because Soul Society is about to be destroyed. Its every living inhabitant terminated, its entire existence eradicated."
— Yin speaking with Minato Kuramoto.

Yin (殷, In; literally "Shady Place") is one of the two forces, alongside Yang, that destroyed the iron-hold of the primordial darkness that was existence in the beginning of all space and time, thus allowing creation to take place; characterized as female. She is the self-proclaimed creator and absolute ruler of the Dangai Precipice World, crediting herself with the creation of the Kōtotsu and Kōryū currents, calling them "incarnations of her own will".

Appearance[]

Personality[]

The female manifestation that is Yin depicts herself as extremely mechanical in her actions, in that she speaks in long logical chains of reasoning, utilizing several connectors (discourse markers) such as "ergo", "concordantly", and "thus", and has little variance in her tone of voice. She rarely shows any signs of surprise and also has a somewhat bored look on her face in many of her appearances. Adding to this, she also has little facial expression beyond smirks and glares, but does exhibit emotion on limited occasions, such as annoyance and arrogance.

Kamui explains to Raian Getsueikirite that the true purpose of Yin's existence as an actual being is to balance the "mathematical equations" that symbolize the balance between the physical and spiritual words, through the Dangai, and she is unable to see the world as anything beyond a series of equations. It is also because of this that she is unable to comprehend choice and free will, one's spirit in other words, and cannot see the results of such choices as they are no more than variable factors in an equation to her.

Quotes[]

  • (To Raian Getsueikirite) "As you adequately put, the problem is choice. But we already know what you are going to do, don't we? Already, I can see the chain reaction. The chemical precursors that signal the onset of an emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you to the simple and obvious truth. That person is going to die and there is nothing you can do to stop it."
  • (To Minato Kuramoto) "Hope? Speaking of such things while being a Jinki Fragment is ludicrous at best. Allow me to break it down for you, in simple facts. It is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, as well as your greatest weakness."
  • "Denial is the most predictable of all human responses. But not without a sense of humor."

Behind the Scenes[]

Yin is based mainly on the Architect from The Matrix trilogy.
