The Yamata-no-Orochi (八岐大蛇, Great Serpent of the Eight Forked Roads) was a creature which once existed in the Human World. It brought about dark times and was known for consuming humans before it's banishing to the Beast Realm at the hands of the gods. Eventually the creature would be slain and put to rest, being reduced to nothing but it's scales which still hold it's spiritual energy. An unknown scientist of the Twelfth Division would obtain these scales and create a series of artificial souls which could serve as a perfect reincarnation of the deceased Yamata-no-Orochi.

History[]

It is unknown when the Yamata-no-Orochi first began to terrorize humanity and the gods of the Human World but it can be said that it manifested shortly after the Human World's creation.

Hasshōjo[]

The Hasshōjo (八少女, Eight Maidens) were eight goddesses of the Azuchi Clan. It is said that before devouring the Hasshōjo, the Yamata-no-Orochi was originally a large serpent. The spiritual power of the seven goddesses physically changed the serpent and merged into one being. The Yamata-no-Orochi would be sealed into the Beast Realm before the eighth goddess, Kushinadahime, could be eaten.
