The Wandering Spirit World (漂霊界, Hyōreikai, alt. "Drifting Spirit World")[Notes 1] is a dimension that exists beyond the Three Worlds that form the cycle of reincarnation (viz; Soul Society, Human World, and Hueco Mundo). The Wandering Spirit World also seems to be removed from the flow of time as, after becoming trapped there, Matsuri Kudō, Fujimaru Kudō, Seigen Suzunami, and Arturo Plateado found that a hundred years had passed in relation to their present by the time they escaped.[1]
Relation to the Cycle of Souls[]
The true function of the Shisuikyō (熾水鏡, Burning Water Mirror; "Shisui Mirror" in the English version) was meant to aid in the flow of the reincarnation cycle, and seemingly allowed access to the Wandering Spirit World. Upon further investigation, Mayuri Kurotsuchi discovered that a soul who came from the Wandering Spirit World named Shiyo had undergone Konsō in the World of the Living. However, there were no records of Shiyo's arrival in the Rukongai. Therefore, Shiyo's soul presumably became "lost" in Wandering Spirit World during the transit between the Human World and Soul Society. Also of note is the soul of Konoka Suzunami, which became attached to Shiyo's body in the Wandering Spirit World after Konoka was killed in the Soul Society. Konoka's soul then accompanied Shiyo's when the latter returned to the Human World.
