Wú Lanfên (吳蘭芬, "Military Orchid Fragrance") is a Soul and a member of the ancient Balancers of Souls. She serves as a Major of the Detention Corps under Mamoru Nakatani.
Appearance[]
Lanfên is a very tall, well-endowed and quite muscular mature woman of Chinese descent. Her silhouette is lean and shapely, if somewhat robust at the same time. She has short, dark grey hair and dark brown eyes. The features of her face are rather delicate. She has a tan complexion and a small tatoo on her right temple: 隳 (Huī, "Ruin").
She wears a variant of the standard Balancer uniform, which consists of a white tank top, black vest, white baggy trousers and yellow hard-cuffed boots. In addition, she wears a set of jewellery which includes a golden necklace and a pair of earrings, all of them with embedded spessartine gems.
Personality[]
Wú appears to be a collected and taciturn person at first. Normally, she speaks little and maintains a level-headed and melancholic attitude. However, her behaviour changes drastically once she enters combat. In truth, she is a bloodthirsty warrior who greatly enjoys the intensity of combat. She becomes ferocious, relentless and violent, attempting to cause as much damage as possible at every opportunity.
History[]
Wú Lanfên was born in the ancient past. Unlike the vast majority of women at that time, she decided to become a warrior. This decision was highly controversial and resulted in her being viewed with hatred and contempt by male warriors. However, her exceptional prowess was grudgingly respected, so men of wealth often hired her to destroy their foes.
Unfortunately, the ill will toward her had ultimately grown too strong. One day she was confronted by a small army. Lanfên fought, with many of the enemies perishing to her nearly inhuman might, although she was indeed only human. In the end she was overwhelmed through sheer numerical advantage. The victorious warriors ravished and mutilated her viciously. The damage she had sustained proved lethal[1].

Powers and Abilities[]

Enhanced Strength: Lanfên boasts an uncommonly muscular body, a result of extensive training which translates into extraordinary physical strength. Even simple physical strikes, be they punches, kicks or attacks conducted with the use of her Jiūkǔndao possess a dangerous amount of power behind them. Enhanced Durability: Another benefit from her arduous physical training is the significantly increased resistance to damage. Particularly helpful due to her average speed and limited defensive capability, she can weather considerable punishment with little detriment to her health and combat capacity[2]. Enhanced Endurance: Despite the amount of effort required to imbue her strikes with such considerable power, Lanfên does not seem to grow weary with their repeated use. Moreover, even fairly strong enemy attacks are incapable of stunning her for longer than a few moments[2]. | |

Flail Expert: Wú is a highly proficient wielder of the unusual weapon that is a double-headed meteor hammer. She knows and skilfully employs techniques such as throws, grabs, whips and slams. Capable of feats such as spinning both heads of the Jiūkǔndao with a gust-stirring velocity, she is an adept ambidextrous fighter with good multitasking skills[2]. Hakuda Expert: As a requirement in the Detention Corps she has also become quite proficient in unarmed combat. Coupled with her robust physique she is a dangerous opponent even when fighting bare-handed. Shunpo Expert: She is a fairly competent user of Hohō. Her speed rivals that of an upper echelon Shinigami Lieutenant. Kadō Expert: Lanfên is relatively knowledgeable in terms of spellcasting, although she lacks the skill to perform more complex techniques. Great Spiritual Power: Whilst not as strong as the other top officers of the Detention Corps, Wú Lanfên stills boasts an amount of spiritual energy which far surpasses that of an average Shinigami Lieutenant. When exerted, her Reiatsu has an amber colour. | |

Qīng Zhàng Chē (清障车, "Wrecker"): is a double-headed meteor hammer with a very long, dark silver chain and black, spiky heads. The chain is usually wrapped a few times around Lanfên's waist in order to prevent attempts to disarm her.
Shìfàng: Qūzhújiàn (驅逐艦, "Ruiner"): Like every Shìfàng, this state may be activated only when the wielder is in a critical condition, usually in a state resembling the moment of their death when applicable. Qīng Zhàng Chē spawns a set of heavy armour of dark silver and orange colours to protect Lanfên from further harm. At the same time, the chains of the meteor hammer are hidden underneath. The heads of the weapon become significantly enlarged and are usually attached to the vambraces, covering her hands. The accompanying release of augmented spiritual pressure sends a potent shockwave capable of cracking the ground beneath Wú's feet.
