I have a question or two about something that is not addressed in the decided rules and guidelines listed on the RPCQE page and i dont want to use something and later find out it will be deducted so if you could get back to me as soon as reasonibly possible for you i would be grateful.
Well, hmm... that's a good question. When I took the exam I remember something being said about additional images being subracted from the final byte count. So basically what I'd say is: add as many images as you want, but unless the image is absolutely necessary to the article, (such as the infobox or a really fitting Zanpakutou and/or personality picture, etc.) don't expect those images to be considered as part of the final byte count. That's what I would say, anyway.
Btw, User:Zf6hellion is the head of the RPCQE exam comittee, so if you have more questions like this and want a more specific answer, you should contact him.
I looked through the list of those who have passed the exam and I haven't seen any comments about a particular article having too many pictures in use. That being said pictures rarely detract from an article. It's best though to ere on the side of caution however, so I suggest you do what SCB says and talk to Hellion.
Pardon my intrusion, but images, as well as the infobox as a whole, are to take away from the total byte count of any individual article, for obvious reasons. I've seen pages in the past that have had more images than text, yet the author, for whatever reason, can only seem to applaud himself for breaking the 100k plateau.
The point of this exam is to prove yourself of being worthy enough to handle advanced topics, quite evidently. So, with that being said, adding an unprecedented amount of images to a page --because an image's byte count in itself is often times quite large-- comes across as taking the easy way out, or to people such as myself, cheating. Not accusing you of anything, so please do not be offended; just wanted you to grasp ahold of why things are the way are.
To clarify i wasnt trying to bump my byte count by using images lol but i wanted to make sure that i wouldnt lose points or anything for images. I am making a visored and i wanted to add an image of the mask but i decided it would be smart to check first. So i was correct that the image would be subtracted from the byte count but i wont lose grade points for additional images?
It depends, really. Images aren't bad by any means, it's just when they're so frequent that they become like clutter. An image is a physical example on what you're trying to convey, so they're important nonetheless. I'm sure you can be a pretty good judge of that yourself; just ask yourself, Am I overdoing it?
To answer your question, I don't think anyone here is going to dock you points for putting up a few images. But if you end up throwing in an entire gallery for any one thing, then they probably will. We're understanding people; we're not looking for ways to harm you, but rather the exact opposite.
Looking at your character's page, which has no more than an infobox image, I can already tell you that you're fine. An image for the Zanpakuto and Hollowification sections isn't going to hurt your changes or anything.
I read it before i started my character, again i was just being cautious. Thank you for answering my questions ^.^ I should be able to finish my entrance character today or tomorrow, i saved my most hated category for last though.
