The Third Division (三番隊, sanbantai, "Squad 3" in the English Dub), is one of the branches of the Gotei 13, headed by Captain Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi.
Organisation[]
The Third Division follows the traditional organisation of a Gotei 13 Division. During the Quincy Blood War the Division sustained several casualties among its highest-ranking officers, and Lieutenant Izuru Kira retired shortly afterward to become a teacher at the Shin'ō Academy. The Lieutenant and Third Seat Officer positions were eventually offered to Teruo and Yuji Akui brothers once Captain Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi deemed them competent enough.
Special Duties[]
No special duties have been noted for the Third Division.
Barracks[]
Third Division Barracks.
Similarly to others, the Third Division Barracks contains the offices and living quarters of members of its designated Division. During his days as the leader, Gin Ichimaru planted Persimmon trees in the barrack grounds and dried the fruits himself to create hoshigaki, which he shared with the rest of Gotei 13. Later on, Captain Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi has had a relatively small concert stage constructed, where he encourages his subordinates to perform and play musical instruments off-duty.
