The Soul Vanguard (魂の先駆者,Tamashī no senku-sha) also known as the Legion of Souls or Division X, is an organization composed of deflected Soul Reapers from the 13 Court Guard Squads. They're founded under the leadership of former Squad 7 Lieutenant, Kōyo Okūda. Two other notable leaders are former Squad 13 Captain, Riēko Takāo and former Squad 2 Captain, Kaytou Sutora.

Some agreed with this proposal, while others didn’t. One in particular being Seventh Division’s Lieutenan, Kōyo Okūda. He lead a second uprising against the Gotēi 13 with
the help of Riēko Takāo and Kaytōu Sutora. Having gathered a vast majority of Shinigami from each Division, the group deflected themselves from the Squads and their Captain Commander’s control.
Purpose[]
The Soul Vanguard’s primary objective is to cease the dispansion and shutdown of the 13 Court Guard Squads, being the only military form of protection in the Soul Society. Stationed in the Rukongai district, each member is tasked with carrying out missions in an attempt to put an end to Sakai Reijiro and Central 46’s dictatorship over the Soul Society.

Riēko Takāo: Former Captain of Squad Thirteen and Co-Founder of the Soul Vanguard, Riēko is a headstrong and resilient man. He is responsible for security and the Vanguard’s defenses.[]
Kaytou Sutora: Former Captain of Squad Two and Co-Founder, Kaytou is a sly and cunning leader. He is responsible for late night patrols and the Vanguard’s stealth ops.
Kōyo Okūda: Former Lieutenant of Squad 7 and last of the three Co-Founders, Kōyo is the main strategist.
