"Not criminals? That's rich, coming from you. You know damn well that if we weren't so damn powerful petty criminals is all the both of us would be!"

This article, Shinken, is based on the canon equivalent of the same name. It will not be used in general role-playing without the participants' prior agreement.

The Shinken (神剣, "Divine Sword") are a collection of ancient Zanpakutō that belong to the Noble Houses of Soul Society. Each of the swords are left in the care of their respective noble family and its handling is left to their discretion.

Overview[]

History[]

Known Shinken[]

  • Hakkyōken (八鏡剣, "Eight Mirror Sword"): Belonging to the Ise Clan, the Hakkyōken is a sword said to be capable of taking the power of a god into itself and dispersing it off into the eight directions. The blade itself reflects the power of the godly opponent that its wielder is facing. Because they are in charge of rites and rituals, the members of the Ise family do not have their own individual Zanpakutō; instead, the head of the house inherited and used Shinken Hakkyōken, which is passed down from generation to generation.
  • Enrakyōten (艶羅鏡典, "Law of the Bewitching Lucid Mirror"): Also sealed under the false name, "Kuten Kyōkoku" (九天鏡谷, "Nine Heavens Mirror Valley"), it is a divine sword belonging to the Tsunayashiro Clan. It was originally believed that it could produce an invisible mirror-like shield to deflect attacks. However, its true power is to freely imitate the powers of any Zanpakutō that exists or has existed. Tokinada Tsunayashiro demonstrated the use of several Zanpakutō abilities such as Gagaku Kairo, Wabisuke, Hisagomaru, Senbonzakura, Tsuchinamazu, Haineko, Ryūjin Jakka, Katen Kyōkotsu, and Kyōka Suigetsu. As the family treasure of the Tsunayashiro Clan, whom serve as the record-keepers of Soul Society, their Shinken embodies the history of Soul Society.
  • Muramasa (村正, "Village-Just"): Offhandedly mentioned by Shunsui Kyōraku, the Muramasa is a divine sword with the power to dominate other Zanpakutō. It has been demonstrated to forcefully materialize the spirit of any Zanpakutō within its sphere of influence and rouse their negative emotions so that they will be compelled to rebel against their master. Although not explicitly stated, it is heavily implied that this is the family treasure of the Kuchiki Clan.
