Seia no Rōjinki (老人木の精有, Rōjinki no Seia), less formally known as simply Seia (精有, Seia), and later under the assumed name of Omi Tenka (天下 汚美, Tenka Omi), is a long-lived Shinigami who played a significant role in the original Gotei 13 as the founding captain of its Thirteenth Division. During her tenure Karo Tōsen was her lieutenant. Trapped in Hueco Mundo during an excursion, she was presumed dead long after her disappearance. She would later re-appear in the World of the Living, masquerading as the Fullbringer and elder sister of Emi Tenka.
Appearance[]
Seia is a woman of above average height with an athletic build and dark skin, she has prominent muscle definition on her arms and stomach which fades out elsewhere. She has shaggy and unkempt black hair that reaches as far as her shoulders, with a single clean braid hanging down from the left side of her face. Her fringe has a slight cow lick at the fringe and her hair also has several prominent streaks of red running through it. She has thin eyebrows and slightly curved eyes with deep green irises. She has no really prominent facial features besides a small beauty mark beneath her right eye. Her jawline and chin are somewhat pointed and her lips have strong laugh lines. She most commonly wears a black collared vest with a zip running down the front, often left zipped up to just cover her breasts but leave her neck exposed. She wars a pair of black cargo trousers and workman boots. Three belts adorn her waist coming in at different angles and all running through the same buckle that sits on the left side of her waist. Lastly she wears a necklace with a plue pendant attached.
During her time as a Captain, her hair was much longer, reaching as far down as her waist. It was kept straight and lacked the red streaks of her later hairstyle. She wore the typical Shinigami Shihakushō though the right sleeve was removed. As fitting her rank she wore a Captain's haori with a tyrian purple underside, it had one long left sleeve but lacked a right sleeve like her Shihakushō. During her time in Hueco Mundo she adorned a Hollow mask that looked the skull of a deer over her right shoulder, held in place by a pair of belts, much of her uniform became ragged and worn during this time with ruined and torn edges.
Personality[]
Seia's full appearance.
Seia no Rōjinki likes to play the part of the laidback and carefree persona, she acts lazily and addresses most concerns with relaxed musings, but it is a thinly veiled gesture at best.[1] Those who spent even short bursts of time with her can see that she is extremely tense and always on alert. She reacts to everything with razor quickness, as if her nerves are on fire with electricity, and she tends to appear worked up. Her muscles are knotted with strain and her eyes maintain bags under them as she tends to maintain a restless sleep at best. She processes information with unusual seriousness and has a habit of fidgeting with anything she can get her hands on, be it her Zanpakutō or anything within arms reach.[2] When questioned on it she never elaborates on what causes this in her, rather she deflects the question with references to Hueco Mundo's dog-eat-dog nature, though she has held this trait since long before her time spent in the land of Hollows. As a side effect, Seia is very easily frustrated, becoming verbally aggressive with whatever serves as the centre of her irritation at the time. To get physical with something of her ire is a rare feat, instead she tends to toss out a myriad of curses from various cultures that she has picked up over her long life, which also doubles as a means of blowing off steam.
Though she feebly attempts to brush off orders and work given to her by others. Claiming that most duties would be better upheld by the younger generation due to her age, and in stark contrast to her relatively youthful appearance. She does not typically fight against work that is pressed on her however, and is actually rather diligent, if not immediately obvious about it. She completes all of the necessary paperwork of her division without a complaint, at least to anyone else, and maintains a hands on approach to the 13th Division's duties within the Seireitei and the Human World. Given the chance, she would actively lead the protection of several districts, though is often unable to due to the sheer amount of administrative work a Captain is faced with. She professes that her favourite past time is doing nothing more than lying down with a bottle of sake but her life style is far more active than that would imply. Long walks through the Seireitei or the Rukongai, frequent sparring matches and outdoorsman activities being some of the most common. As privileged as she has been in life, very few doors remained unopened to her, and so she is unconcerned with such things as authority or nobility, titles and bloodlines hold very little sway over her; its the quality of the person behind them. She views the usage of honorifics as stiff, and so completely discards the practice with reference to others, she is also prone to refer to others around her in familiar terms regardless of how well she may actually know them. She often gives nicknames to others as her own personal means of showing familiarity, something that extends to her own Zanpakutō whom she refers to as Hibanagan (火花単元, Sparks-a-Lot).[1]
On a general level Seia is friendly and accepting of most people regardless of their origins or backgrounds, it takes quite a lot of effort on someone's part to actually offend or put her off from interacting with someone. The world is too vast to let simple eccentricities or oddities stand in the way, she claims. Due to her time spent in several walks of life, she has little trouble with other races and doesn't bear any kind of grudge or animosity towards individual beings for the blankets typically cast on them, it is partly due to this that she counts even Hollows among her friends and allies. Seia is possessed of an immense drive, such that she is incapable of easing her way into things, instead she dives headfirst into whatever is before her. Half-measures are beyond her and subtle gestures are not her thing, at least not intentionally, which can sometimes paint her as unusual or archaic in any given situation. While she isn't unintelligent she simply prefers to be straightforward, to her, simplicity is best. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the length of time she spent in Hueco Mundo, Seia has a degree of ruthlessness to her that likes to make itself known on occasion, having once suggested a hostile takeover of Hueco Mundo and complete domination over its inhabitants. She usually advocates the aggressive approach, battle over diplomacy, domination before subjugation, death instead of capture, though she has mellowed out somewhat over the years, she is unmistakably a member of the original Captains of the Gotei 13, who were all feared as brutal killers.
Seia is also possessed of a great deal of pride, a personal one, that is centered around her personal accomplishments. She has sat in several lofty positions in her time, the first Captain of the Thirteenth Division, her name had even gained traction in the Forest of Menos, thus she found it hard to settle for most normal accomplishments or achievements in her life as everyone else was already singing them as praises or spurring them as dreaded rumour. She doesn't openly speak of what she has seen and done, instead she wears her achievements as badges of honour, though she is usually the only one aware of the significance of her trophies. The necklace she wears, the mask she carried in Hueco Mundo, even the fact that her Shinigami uniform lacks sleeves on only one side are all manners in which Seia expresses her success. The Gotei 13 is known to have made a dramatic shift in its approach following the first Quincy Blood War as they found themselves a reason to fight. Seia's was, and still is, the people. The very men and women that make up the ranks of the Gotei, those people that spilled their blood in the defense of the Seireitei, the innocent people of the Rukongai who toil through an existence that can be extremely cruel to them all on the matter of a gamble. She fights for what she states are "[her] people", an intentionally vague phrasing that grows or shrinks to encapsulate a great many individuals at any one time. At one point she could use it to justify drawing her sword for a single man in the middle of a dark alley, at another, an entire nation.
She has several hobbies with which to partake in her free time, not the least of which is the creation of Tyrian purple dye, which her homeland is famous for, and the knowledge of which was passed on to her by her father. Seia enjoys crafting the dye, particularly in small sets that she gives off to others as a gift. She enjoys sparring and training, as well as long walks through the Seireitei and Rukon Districts, even going out of her way to hike in whatever mountainous areas she can find. She loves coastal landmarks, which remind her of home, and are one of the few things capable of causing her to naturally relax. She dabbles in fishing and fish keeping from time to time and is directly responsible for getting the 13th Division barracks its own koi fish rather than the practice of stealing from the Kuchiki Manor that Yachiru Kusajishi took to. She is an amateur writer, once having published a small serial called "Rukongai on the Waves" that focused on tourism aspects of individual districts, her penmanship, by her own admission, is markedly terrible and at one time earned her the nickname "Kumokaki" (蜘蛛書き, Spider Writer). She greatly enjoys drinking sake and scotch, as well as an undying taste for a variety of Indian-style curries.

Tremendous Spiritual Power: Seia has always had an incredible amount of spiritual energy, to the point of being considered a monster by most who happen to encounter it. In her Human years her spiritual power was tamed by exerting itself through her willpower. She cried out internally for a means to be useful, to help and protect those around her, and her Reiryoku brought that into existence giving her the powers of a Medium. The raw power at her disposal was lauded even by the likes of Humanity, such that Seia was treated as a daughter of the goddess Astarte; a Demi-God in the eyes of her people. A Heavenly nuance, her power as always been associated with the divine and physically draws its presence from connotations associated with the Sun, as such fire and lightning both, are commonly associated with Seia. Though her willpower served as an outlet, her lack of understanding and training in control of spiritual energy served both to limit and harm her. Manifesting as bursts of electrical energy, her power could easily incapacitate and outright kill just about anyone or thing in the Human World, and with no control over it, such events were bound to happen more than once and it did. She died relatively young in her Human life and so the problems of her power were never brought to the fore there, but at spirits, especially powerful ones, tended to live far longer lives, the necessity of training became a quick reality once Seia arrived in Soul Society. The Rukongai District of Rōjinki experienced a large amount of casualties and infrastructural damage as a result of Seia's presence, and because of its relative distance from the Seireitei, it remains largely rural as a result, even a thousand years after the fact. Seia's untamed spiritual power is lethal and vicious. It acts as if it had a mind of its own, quickly and ruthlessly extinguishing life that could not bare the strength of its wrath. The density of her Reiryoku is such that she would see the spirit of her Zanpakutō in her dreams, long before Rairyōken had even come to exist as a sword. The reality of her power, however, was that it was still immature, even at its current strength there was still room for it to grow and strengthen. A key part of this was her lack of control. As Seia did not understand the mechanics behind Reiryoku she had no means of controlling it and preventing it from seeping out of her body. Most normal individuals, even those with higher amounts of spiritual energy are able to lead relatively normal lives regardless of whether they can control their Reiryoku or not, this is because the amount of Reiryoku that they lose is relative to the strength of their soul and generally doesn't present much of an issue. Seia's soul experienced a form of hyperactivity which caused it to generate far greater amounts of Reiryoku than it needed or could handle and expunging this energy quickly threatened to consume her and a large portion of the Rukongai in the process. A Balancer of Souls, Kenpachi Amakyō prevented this from happening by taking Seia under his wing and teaching her the methods to control the overbearing power she happened to carry. The benefits of such a monolithic energy being brought under control are immense and numerous. Even when her power was not under control it easily managed to bring seven spiritual entities into existence with nothing but raw energy and the desire to do so. Spiritual beings are much longer lived than their Human counterparts, such that living a thousand years is not uncommon. This is because spirits happen to age slower, a feat that is in part dictated by the growth and maturity of their Reiryoku. Seia ages at a rate many times slower than even other spirits, and despite living more than two thousand years she is still largely youthful in appearance which suggests that even now, her Reiryoku continues to grow. She can bolster and reinforce her natural physical attributes by having this energy flood her body, making her instantly as strong or even stronger than individuals who have spent their entire lives on physical improvement, though there are limits to what she can achieve with this as her body as its own limits. With tight knit control over it she can even manipulate her Reiryoku outside of her body, preventing it from being swallowed by ambient Reishi, even without having expressed it as Reiatsu. This allows her to achieve feats such as constructing objects that have physical weight, but no visual form to anyone other than Seia, though such items are transient and exist for exceedingly short periods of time. This comes as no surprise really, as amongst even the first generation of Captains of the Gotei, often claimed to have been the strongest incarnation of the group, Seia's spiritual power was seen as monstrous. Each of these legendary individuals were known for specialising in a particular field that earned them their fame. For Seia the field that she specialised in was undoubtedly that of Reiryoku and its many applications. It is an intrinsic part of who she is, and has even left indelible marks on her personality. When manifested her spiritual power radiates with an intense blue shine, it may be formed into the shape of a giant wolf's head if enough of that energy is drawn out, even further she can manifest a full colossal form of a wolf if the reality of her energy is brought to the fore.
Enhanced Strength & Superhuman Reflexes: As a spiritual being Seia is naturally stronger than she was as a Human, something that is only further bolstered by her status as a Shinigami and the enormous spiritual energy she has at her command. She would frequently arm wrestle with the Gatekeeper Karāge, overpowering and casting the gigantic being aside in their matches. With a single punch she could smash the mask of an Adjuchas-class Hollow and could toss Kenpachi Amakyō several miles into the air against the force of a powerful tornado. With a single kick she could easily tear through solid stone, and use that to propel herself across walls and buildings by rapidly creating footholds with her strength. Though she is incredibly strong, her truest feat lies in her honed reflexes. She is capable of reacting to almost anything with a lightning quickness that goes far beyond normal means, some have even guessed that it is a result of her elemental ties to electricity that she is capable of reacting so fast. Immense Endurance: For Shinigami spiritual energy is their life force, and those with particularly large amounts can use it to ignore injuries. Though a spiritual body is much stronger than a Human one, it is not invulnerable, and by using their Reiryoku as a stand-in, they can continue to fight even after sustaining grievous and fatal wounds. Seia is particularly good at this, having proven capable of withstanding most of her body being burned and one side of it being destroyed, albeit temporarily. Keen Intellect: Straightforward in nature though she may be, this does not mark Seia as unintelligent. Seeking out the simplest path is simply her preference but she is no slouch in the field of intellect. She is skilled at reading her opponents moves in order to counteract them and is more than capable of concocting unorthodox plans for a battle. Underneath her lazy exterior is a woman with a great deal of knowledge of military affairs and is possibly one of the keenest minds on how Hueco Mundo operates, by virtue of being among the few non-Hollows to spend any significant amount of time there. | |

Master Swordsman: Having been taught by Kenpachi Amakyō, and received some degree of training from Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto and Satō Shingen, as well as being a Balancer and one of the original Shinigami Captains, Seia has been at the forefront of a great deal of conflict which has given her ample opportunity in order to learn and hone her skills in battle. She is greatly skilled in the art of several swordsmanship schools and has proven capable of wielding a variety of sword types, be they jian, longswords, or something as outlandish as her over sized Zanpakutō. She relies primarily on her own professed style of Zanjutsu known as Sayūryū (左右流, Left and Right School) which is an incorporation of the techniques and practices of other martial styles in conjunction with the manner in which Seia prefers to conduct herself in combat. That is her weapon is wielded exclusively by her left hand and all attacks come from that side while her right hand is relegated to providing support, grappling an opponent with her arm or knocking them away. Her style relies primarily on speed, delivering a great number of attacks at once, or simply delivering a single strike that leaves very little time for her opponent to react. The speed with which she fights is backed up by a great degree of physical power, which also presents a drawback in that a single mistake can cause her to fumble. However, her right hand is actually her dominant, and reserved for those scenarios that she considers "serious", when faced with an opponent that poses a greater threat to those around her or can clearly match Seia blow for blow. Though seemingly a minor thing, the mere switching of sword arm is an observably dramatic change as her blows become incredibly more powerful as does the speed with which her attacks are unleashed all the while becoming more balanced such that the risks of her faltering with her right hand are minimal to none. The particulars of her style rely on a blend of Iaido, Taijijian and Kendo as well as those skills unique to Zanjutsu. Hakuda Expert: Given her age, it is no surprise that Seia is also skilled in the field of hand-to-hand combat. She professes that she has never studied a particular style, and fights by instinct more than anything, but it is clear that even without formal training the Thirteenth Captain has been shaped by her experiences. She is skilled and deceptively powerful, relying on Hakuda primarily as a form of support in order to deflect and cast off her opponents attacks. She has been successful in redirecting the unarmed attacks of her enemies, as well as swords and the rare Kidō spell by learning to change the flow of those attacks with her own bare hands. Shunpo Expert: Seia is a highly skilled practitioner in the art of Hohō, possessing great speed and seemingly unnatural balance as a result of training in its teachings. She is skilled enough to use Shunpo, though applies it differently from more common means. The average Shinigami focuses Reiryoku below them in order to carry them great distances in a matter of steps, Seia does not so much flow with it as she attacks it. Each step for her is a powerful sonic explosion, and so she does not appear to step, instead she leaps. This creates an unorthodox style of movement that creates the illusion that Seia is constantly pouncing across the battlefield to strike at her prey, and due to the manner in which she moves she can seemingly leap out from anywhere to deliver an attack. However, as a result of the force, it is difficult for Seia herself to gauge how far she will move and often times results in extra wasted movements as a result of being forced to take an alternative route to her target. Kidō Expert: Seia was remarkably bad at Kidō during her original tenure as Captain of the Thirteenth Division, such that it was a popular negative remark to be made against her when arguing with her fellow Captains. Using any spell in even the single digit range was difficult for her and anything above that was, by and large, impossible. Excluding the odd exception, most spells simply exploded in her face, a result of her overwhelming spiritual power and a difficulty with focusing it in proper quantities. In the intervening thousand years, she has come to into her own in the art of spellcrafting. She has become capable enough to be able to utilize spells as high as Bakudō #75 without incantation and with no notable drain on her limited physical stamina, though she has trouble using spells above that point without their incantations, even with it, they appear to deeply drain her of energy. She has a great deal of skill in the spells that she has learned, weaving them together with surprising ease and power. Seia is intensely skilled in the use of lightning-based Kidō for several reasons, not the least of which are her considerable elemental affinity for them. As she focuses all of her spiritual energy on that facet, the manipulation of electrical energy has become incredibly easier for her, particularly in the realm of Kidō as it serves as a direct outlet for her power. It is further bolstered by the fact that Seia never truly conjures these spells on her own, it is always done using her Zanpakutō as a focus, as such, one should consider each spell she wields to have been done by two beings with all the expected benefits in speed, range, power and focus. Each spell is empowered several magnitudes and their forms become far more malleable in her hands than that of the typical Kidō practitioner. While Byakurai is normally a beam of concentrated lightning, she can transform it into a powerful maelstrom to pierce multiple targets or skewer a single unlucky individual without losing any of the power of casting one singular Byakurai spell.

Rairyōken (雷猟犬, Lightning Hound) is a grossly oversized tachi that stands at 172½ inches long, making it almost three times as long as its wielder is tall. It takes the typical shape expected of a tachi with an obvious curvature due to its advanced length and width. It has a ringed tsuba that pushes inward on each of its corners giving it a shape resembling a clover. The hilt is a creamy colour with a simple steel pommel and an attach tassel made out of brown thread with two metal points hanging from its end. The sheath is black and emblazoned with the imagery of a wolf in various poses across its width. Due to the size of her Zanpakutō, Seia cannot carry it as other Shinigami would and instead keeps it held in her hand, both as a means of always being prepared and as a way to resolve her habitual need to fidget with something. Rairyōken is the strongest lightning-type Zanpakutō in Soul Society, and does not need the presence of natural lightning in order to facilitate its abilities, instead it is powered purely by Seia's Reiryoku and force of will.

Pet[]
Pablo (パブロ, Paburo) is the soul form of a rooster residing in Soul Society. Originally it was part of a batch meant to be killed and prepared as food by a group of culinary-trained Shinigami until it was stolen by Hein Ueda. Seia was asked to get it back from him and upon doing so unofficially adopted the chicken as a pet.[6] The chicken is named after a character of the same name from a soap that Hein enjoys, called My Roommate Was a Hollow.
Trivia[]
- Seia's name is made up of the characters 精 (vim and vigor), and, 有 (to exist). Her name can be taken to mean "Vigorous Existence".
- Her surname "no Rōjinki" (老人木の) is a simple identifier, denoting that she hails from Rōjinki.
- Seia's alias Omi Tenka can be taken to mean "Tainted Beauty, Descent from Heaven".
- Her Price Level as assessed by Otoya Kurogane's Dirty Accountant is an impressive 60,000 making her equal in strength to Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto.
- In Japanese, Seia would use the pronoun ore (俺), an informal word that is primarily used by men, though it used to be used prominently by both genders until the late Edo period, and still is in some dialects. It is typically used to establish a sense of masculinity and emphasizes one's own status when used amongst peers or those of a lesser status. Amongst family or friends it is seen as a sign of familiarity instead.
