Hadō #66. Sōeigeki (蒼霙撃, lit. "Blue Sleet Attack") is a Kidō spell. It's an unusual spell that's utilized mainly by more experienced Shinigami, being little known among the current generation. Even so, it's proved remarkably effective, largely due to how it combines offence and utility.

Description

Upon completing the spell, the caster directs their hand towards their target. As reishi particles are transformed into sleet that approaches from every conceivable direction, converging upon the hapless victim as a shrinking sphere of white. When the sleet makes contact with flesh, it freezes into a solid sheet of ice - preventing them from moving and holding them in place. When performed correctly, it removes a targets ability to act and quickly removes them from a fight, but even if it's cast incorrectly, the potency of the sleet and the strength of the resulting ice is enough to confer a direct advantage.

Once locked in this icy prison, the caster can either choose to have them remain as they are, incapacitated, or perform a follow up gesture to complete the spell in it's entirety, whereupon six blades of ice manifest an inch away from their skin before extending at great speeds inward, impaling the victim six times in immediate succession in a manner similar to that of an Iron Maiden. Following this step, the ice is usually dyed red with the blood of the adversary, as their form goes limp and the ice shatters into pieces.

Despite it's brutality and apparent efficiency, it's fallen out of favor due to how immensely specific it's effect is, which leaves little room for versatility.
