Roshan Bamshad (バムサド・ローシャン, Rōshan Bamusado) is an extremely powerful Echt Quincy who has spent his life in the service of the Wandenreich. He hails from the time before the first war between the Shinigami and the Quincy, more than a thousand years ago. During a time of growing tensions, he eked out a reputation among his comrades as a blood hungry warrior and formed together a group of like minded individuals who became members of the Aufklärung, the Wandenreich vanguard; those men and women who led the charge. During the first war, Roshan was personally responsible for felling one of the Seireitei's Gatekeepers, and taking down the Red Hollow Gate. Though the Quincy lost the war, Roshan survived, fleeing back into the Human World when others fled into the shadows.

As a Sternritter he possesses the Holy Letter "R" — "The Re—".

Appearance[]

Roshan is a middle aged individual of above average height and a lean build; well toned and with properly proportioned muscles for his weight class. He has shoulder length hair that curls at the tips, framing either side of his face while several tufts settle out from his bangs. Naturally blonde, his hair has been noted to bear a particular luster that makes it shine as if gold. He has straight, well groomed eyebrows and viridian coloured eyes. His facial features are generally sharp and angular, though his mouth is a tad wide on account of his propensity to sport a grin. He has a pointed chin with a clear frame of brown haired stubble covering his jawline. His nose isn't large enough to take up much of his face but also isn't short enough to be regarded in any way as small. Roshan's skin is of a hazel pigment. He wears a variant of the Wandenreich uniform consisting of a white hooded cloak like those worn by the Stern Ritter and a double-breasted trench coat with shoulder straps adorned with shoulder marks in the form of the Quincy cross, followed by a white button down bib. The coat is tied around the waist by a black belt with a silver decorative buckle, Roshan's belt is decorated across the back with seven Seele Schneider and a pouch on the left side filled with Gintō tubes. Beneath those, he wears a pair of white trousers and black trench boots with steel toes. His left hand is covered by the Sanrei Glove.

Personality[]

"Always first to the battlefield, Vorreiter Roshan, at your service!"
—Roshan

Roshan speaks with high born mannerisms that make him seem dignified and proper at a glance, referring to everyone with respect, including those he would otherwise consider enemies, though any such similar qualities end there. He is consistently referred to as a thug in part because of his rude and vulgar tendencies that he likes to portray. He ignores common courtesies with frequent abandon and isn't above mocking those around him, though he personally believes that its all in good fun with no harm meant. He sees life as a reason to have fun, that if you're not enjoying something then there is little point in continuing with it. A self serving trait in most cases, Roshan primarily acts on what he would find to be fun at any given moment. He can often be considered to be unusually apathetic, while he carries himself like a noble and always wears a smile that others might take to be warm acceptance, the Persian Quincy cares little for the problems and matters of others that don't directly affect himself. That isn't to say he is above assisting those in need, but rarely is it done as an act of selflessness or kindness.

His lax apathy and trickster traits aside, Roshan was also known for having a prominent battle lust, to the point that he never felt truly comfortable outside of the battlefield. He loved the chaos that was the heart of a battle, even further, he loved to be one of the few with the privilege to strike the first blow against an ever-increasing army of enemies, it was this particular trait that lead him to becoming the leader of the Wandenreich Aufklärung. In stark contrast to his relaxed nature, he was most liveliest when at the front of any situation, be it the frontlines of a battle, an important scouting mission, or just being up close when something happened and everyone needed to see what it was. He had a knack for picking out details that others missed as well as make educated about enemies or locations based on very little information. He happened to inherit his family's stubbornness, something that contradicted his oft stated notion of flowing with the wind. Once he set a belief in something it was virtually impossible to make him change his mind.

Roshan embodies the pride that Quincy are known for, though not in the typical sense. He cares little for the ideal that Quincy are the superior race, instead he is content with the fact that he has achieved a level of skill that most humans can't even percieve as physically possible, that he can kill something as spiritually strong as a Shinigami or Hollow is something to take pride in because, as a human, he is essentially the inferior. This doesn't make him a superior being, just someone with skill beyond their believed potential. He has a stated understanding of how the cycle of reincarnation works and the threat that Quincy pose to it, though he doesn't view it as an argument that should stop them from doing as they have, for a system that is so easily broken is worthless and should be replaced. He carries the belief that if one wishes to get something done then they have to do it themselves, he is loathe to let others take command or allow them to direct his plans though he is willing to follow the commands of others but is prone to altering them to better suit himself. The one being exempt from this style of independent action was Yhwach who Roshan trusted implicitly and with the utmost loyalty. These traits, and his status as a forerider of the Quincy forces led to his sobriquet, Vorreiter (上先駆 (フォルライター), Foruraitā; German for "Forerider"; Japanese for "Imperial Outrider").

In battle, Roshan acts very laid back and prefers to use very misdirective means of fighting. Developed on the nature that a Quincy is naturally weaker than those they tend to pick fights with, Roshan made up his style of fighting to take advantage of this fact as well as others to cause his opponents to underestimate the sheer lethality that he was capable of unleashing. Hence he utilized fighting styles that were looked down upon, such as reverse grip sword styles or the slow and unwieldy javelin in comparison to a bow or more conventional sword fighting styles. This was mirrored by his abilities as well, he would utilize flashy techniques that packed very high power but with little exertion to bring his opponents into a lull before unleashing a more practical and all the more lethal attack to bring them down while unawares. His spiritual pressure even aided him by "uplifting" his opponents in a subtle manner causing them to overshoot movements and put too much power behind attacks.

History[]

Roshan was born the eldest of nine siblings, he had six younger brothers; Barbad, Ramtin, Sarkash, Azad, Khosrau, and, Shabdiz, and two sisters; Nagisa, and, Shirin.

Plot[]

Bleach: Equilibrium[]

Equipment[]

Quincy Cross: The source of a Quincy's power, as the power of the Quincy grows, so too does the cross that they bear. Roshan's takes the shape of a cross pattée with four arms that narrow in toward the centre, it has the typical flat ends and curved inside edges. The top arm of the cross is attached to a simple steel chain which is in turn wrapped around the wrist of his right arm.

Seele Schneider (魂を切り裂くものゼーレシュナイダー, Zēreshunaidā; German for "Soul Cutter", Japanese for "That Which Slits the Soul"): A thin silver-coloured tool with a small rectangular hook on the bottom, large enough to fit a single finger, is a weapon used by the Quincy that bears great resemblance to a sword when activated, in particular by generating a beam of spiritual energy that takes the shape of a blade, but is in fact a very powerful arrow. The Reishi that makes up the glowing blue blade of a Seele Schneider travel at an amazing speed, making three million round trips across the edge per second. The vibrations generated by this are not only meant for cutting, but also to weaken the bonds between the spiritual energy of whatever it happens to cut thus making them easier for a Quincy to capture. A battle for the Quincy is one of gathering surrounding Reishi to use as a weapon making the Seele Schneider the most potent manifestation to this principle. Its functionality as a spiritual weapon makes it better against those who are physically powerful as spiritual impact will always over power a physical impact of equal strength. Roshan carries eight modified Seele Schneider. The splitting line at the centre of an ordinary Seele Schneider instead becomes a dividing point for Roshan's, acting like a balisong, it's body can be flipped in and out of shape for different purposes. This additional functionality allowed his Seele Schneider to be converted into a crossguard for his Seele Wyrger, and also imitate the fletching of an arrow, allowing him to use the larger Seele Wyrger as an arrow all the same. With one Seele Schneider reserved for use with his Seele Wyrger, Roshan utilized another for melee combat on its own, or as an accompanying blade to Seele Wyrger, while the remaining six served as reserve arrows when Roshan was nearing exhaustion or as tools in order to utilize Quincy techniques that required their unique functionality.

Seele Wyrger: (魂を省く裂くものゼーレワイージャー, Zērewāijā ; German for "Soul Slayer"; Japanese for "That Which Eliminates the Soul"): If the Seele Schneider is a longsword then the Seele Wyrger is a broadsword. It is Roshan's personal customization of the Seele Schneider, a weapon boasting more power in its over all mass than its counterpart. It takes the shape of a sword framework, almost skeletal in design with its lack of physical parts, particularly the crossguard, pommel, and the all important blade. The sword is made up of a hilt that looks like a pair of combined Seele Schneiders, there is a thin inset between the hilt and the main body of the weapon that can carry a remarkable amount of weight, and suffer a lot of damage without snapping apart. The main body of the weapon consists of little more than the lower half of a blade with a massive gap at the center and one edge replaced with a blunted plating that Roshan uses as a rest whilst wielding. Upon activation the gap in the blade fills with a great fluctuating beam of blue energy like its smaller counterpart and the pommel generates a spike of energy in the shape of a diamond. Seele Wyrger has a total length of 140 cm (55 inches) and a 115 cm (45 inches) long blade. In spite of its increased surface length, Seele Wyrger is even faster than the Seele Schneider making a staggering seven million rotations per second across the edge of the blade, it is enough to cause the sword to visibly fluctuate and create an audible hum. As expected of any simple upgrade, the Seele Wyrger has greater cutting power than its predecessor, capable of almost completely severing the bonds between individual spirit particles with a single swing allowing Roshan to capture them with little to no effort. The sword is double edged, but thanks to the large plating covering the lower half of its left side, it is difficult to use that particular edge at close range with Roshan preferring to use it on its right side most of the time to compensate. As Quincy "only truly use bows and arrows" so too can Seele Wyrger be transformed into an arrow. Utilizing one of Roshan's unique Seele Schneider to form a crossguard for the Seele Wyrger, it can be inset and made to imitate the fletching of an arrow just as the Seele Schneider generates them in its native form. The weight of this particular arrow, while much lighter than that of true broadsword-class weapons is still quite unwieldy. To utilize it properly the skill of Path Control is a necessity. Perhaps a testament to its strength is how it pierced through the body of a Gatekeeper and destroyed the Red Hollow Gate (朱洼門, Shuwaimon) in a single blow during the original Quincy invasion of the Seireitei.

Sanrei Glove: Having been wearing the namesake glove years prior to the first Quincy invasion of Soul Society, Roshan had long since completed the training required in order to enhance his powers. He kept the glove on his person after completing the training in order to make use of the benefits it could grant. This included increasing the strength of his Kosen no Tenzaii, with a completely new form to boot, and his Hirenkyaku. Eventually Roshan's growth as a Quincy surpassed what was offered by the Sanrei Glove allowing him to use a further transformed form of his bow merging traits of the Sanrei-formed bow and his original bow. Even so he wears the glove today, allowing him access to the Quincy: Letzt Stil.

Powers & Abilities[]

Natural Abilities

Master Archer: Just as a marksman begins to hit a target more frequently the longer they repeat the process, a Quincy gains more accuracy and precision with their Heilig Pfeil the more they utilize their Spirit Weapon. This is no less true for someone like Roshan, who has been training in the art of the bow since his very early youth. As part of the teachings that ran through his line, there was a saying comparing birds in flight to to a loosing of an arrow, the influence of this lesson impacted Roshan's development to such a fundamental degree that it eventually took root in the natural form of his own unique Spirit Weapon, that of a bow with the limbs shaped into feathered wings of soul-synthesized silver. Though he enjoys the practice, firing thousands of arrows blindly is child's play whilst consistently firing a single arrow that never misses its mark is the work of a true master. Roshan counts himself among the ranks of such archers, utilizing his own bow with such precision and accuracy so as to always achieve supernatural results. Though others amongst the Quincy were hailed as the masters of long-range combat, Roshan occupied the middle-range as his own, said to be peerless from the distances at which he used for his craft. He could loose arrows great power and aim with the lightest of tugs on the spiritual energy that formed his bow strings, allowing him to fight at his best with only the minimal effort required of him. All of his shots were of a certain kill nature, it was never a question of how hard he would strike, only of where he would aim for all his arrows were launched at the height of their power. His posture when performing archery is a subtle one, he always appears to be relaxed but always retains the necessary points to perform his craft without issues. He followed a method of "flowing with the wind", making his stance as flexible as possible, he could continue to fire his arrows on the move, even amidst dodging attacks from his enemies if he had to. Like a limited number of other skilled Quincy Roshan can fire multiple arrows all at the same time and have them hit their intended targets within the same moment, often successfully killing whatever targets were within his view. He could fire up to four such shots simultaneously to achieve these results.

  • Path Control: While training under his father in the art of archery, it was explained to Roshan that the truest mark of mastery for an archer was to retain control even after an arrow had taken flight. To do so required that one put more into their Heilig Pfeil than just raw power, ones thoughts, will, even their dreams could be used to empower the arrows they fired. It was meant to symbolize what they were willing to risk in order to hit a target with the arrows they loosed. To Roshan this meant putting his all into every shot, his very soul was the power behind every arrow. This allowed him to control the flight of his arrows, keep them flying long after they should have dropped out of the sky and even properly navigate the unwieldy form of his Seele Wyrger. His skill with this technique is such that not only could he direct the motions of an arrow as he pleased he could redirect them so sharply that it would appear his Heilig Pfeil had altered its form in order to change direction. Using this skill on one arrow was a simple task, but the difficulty increased exponentially with each additional arrow he attempted to control, the limit for him being a total of three. As a drawback to putting so much of himself into his shots, while almost guaranteed to hit what he wanted, it slowed his own body's movements and ability to react to the point that when using the maximum granted to him he would effectively move in slow motion.

Expert Swordsman: To understand an enemy, one most understand how they fight. Another lesson passed down to Roshan from his father and one he took to heart. As one of the primary enemies of the Quincy, Shinigami, utilized swords as their primary weapon it was expected that Roshan learn how to wield a sword and fight as Shinigami do. To ensure he got the most out of it, he avoided learning swordsmanship techniques developed purely by human hands and instead took to learning the Shinigami art of Zanjutsu. His skills in the art, once developed, were more than enough to match Shinigami of Lieutenant-level. As is common among swordfighters, he personalized his fighting style to best suit himself and, not limited by the form of a Zanpakutō, took to dual wielding over the more common practice of wielding a single blade. He employed a pair of Seele Schneider, or one alongside his Seele Wyrger, utilizing one for parrying and general defense and the other for attack. Being ambidextrous and with no particular affinity for either arm, he was more than capable of switching up the focus of which blade served what purpose to confuse opponents. He also made use of a reverse grip style, thanks in part to the common view that it was the mark of an amateur when in truth the reverse grip could be just as deadly when employed in the hands of someone skilled such as Roshan.

Excellent Intellect & Incredible Athleticism: To ensure he is ready to face off opponents who are more durable and physically dominant thanks to a Reishi made body rather than a Kishi formed one, Roshan has trained himself to be, what he considers, the mental and physical peak that he can achieve on his own. He can endure more punishment than any single ordinary human without his body giving out on him and has enough endurance to outlast even the most long winded opponents, the heat of battle seemingly only spurs him on to keep on going and going as was the case in the first Quincy invasion of the Seireitei when he moved from one engagement to the next without a single moment of rest. His mental acumen wasn't far behind, though by no means a genius, Roshan was far from unintelligent and made full use of his mental faculties in combat. To go along with his belief that one had to put their all into something to achieve any kind of favourable result, they also had to make full use of every advantage in battle or they would be doing a disservice to their opponents. Romanticizing pragmatism as he called it. With his keen eyesight and quick, on the move thinking, Roshan could easily make out flaws in an enemy's defenses or movements, spot exploitable area and generally take in the tactical landscape very quickly before deducing a plan of action. He enjoyed psychological warfare, his most prominent usage of such being the art of underestimation. He purposefully utilized flashy and over the top attacks to make those around him believe he was arrogant or pompous, he would use fighting styles that others looked down upon and play the part of the fool so as to take advantage of those that fell for the trap.

  • Multilingual: Owing to his long life, Roshan has become fluent in a variety of languages apart from his native Farsi.[1] He speaks convincing enough Turkish to enamor the Dolmabahçe palace guards, and possesses strong enough understanding of German to engage in discrete conversation with Sōken Ishida,[12] and even analyse the literal meaning behind words used by Quilge Opie.[13] He is likewise capable enough in Japanese to communicate and instruct Tsubaki Kurogane[2]

Spiritual Awareness: The ability to sense spiritual energy and perceive spiritual beings is a rare skill that primarily manifests in humans after long exposure to a quantity of spiritual energy above a certain point. Most, if not all Quincy, are born with spiritual awareness and Roshan is no different. Through Bahram Bamshad's training his son was able to hone this ability, allowing him to sense at a much greater distance than the average, making his job as a scout and outrider easier as he could sense the presences of others long before he'd meet them.

Great Spiritual Power: The spiritual power of High-Spec Humans, even Quincy, is typically much smaller than their spiritual counterparts but it is not a state that is set in stone as made clear by the sheer power presented by Wandenreich's Stern Ritter who were clearly on par, if not above, Shinigami Captains in strength. Though not a ranking member of the Stern Ritter, Roshan is another to breach the perception of weakness among spiritually powerful humans. He personally stands on the same level as the average Captain, allowing him to fight on the level of most any Shinigami with very little difficulty and far outstripping most without a seated position near instantly. His spiritual power is tightly controlled, even with powerful and flashy abilities Roshan only exerts the perfect amount necessary for his abilities to perform correctly, never wasting a single drop. Combined with his mastery of Reishi absorption and the rare Irmin Wurdiz, Roshan would appear to have limitless stamina granted by his staggeringly long lasted spiritual energy. His spiritual energy manifests with a lightning quickness, when exerted it to its fullest it floods out in an instant and even when at its peak it can immediately be hidden within the same moment as if it had never even existed. His spiritual pressure has been described as a "rising force", instead of pressing down upon those around him, it raises them and makes them feel lighter. While it can be viewed as a flavour-ish side effect it also gives way to misjudgment on the part of those affected, as while it makes one feel lighter it doesn't actually change their weight and with the simplest of touches it can lead to those affected overshooting a flash step or being too forceful behind an attack. When manifested, Roshan's spiritual energy is Persian green in colouration.

Quincy Powers & Abilities

Reishi Absorption & Manipulation: All spiritually powerful beings utilize Reiryoku when fighting, but they are also paired with secondary aspects in order to create entirely divergent fighting styles and unique abilities. In the case of the Shinigami, they utilize the spiritual energy generated from their soul alongside a Zanpakutō to combat their enemies; essentially a power from within themselves. In direct contrast the Quincy draw in Reishi from the environment around them in order to form weapons and empower various techniques; a power garnered from the outside. They absorb this energy into their bodies and shape it according to their whims to devastating effect. This not only makes them a threat to Hollows and Shinigami on a general level, but when in places such as Hueco Mundo and Soul Society it essentially makes them living Gods, as these realms are composed entirely of Reishi and thus subject to the Quincy ability to absorb and transform it. When coupled with such a power as the Quincy: Vollständig they can even absorb the bodies of spiritual beings to take on their characteristics. Roshan in particular is well versed in this art. Under his father's ever watchful eye, he learned the ins and outs of spirit particles and before long was treading a path of domination over it. By the age of six he could already manifest the basic Quincy bow, Heilig Bogen (神聖弓 (ハイリッヒ・ボーグン), Hairihhi Bōgun; German for "Holy Bow", Japanese for "Sacred Bow"). It wasn't even two years later that he first proved able to form his own weapon, Kosen no Tenzaii which would grow and take on more elaborate forms as his expertise developed. At his level Reishi and Reiryoku were essentially the same thing and either could be used to great effect. Typically it was utilized to form his Spirit Weapon and his Heilig Pfeil but his grasp over it was such that he could freely manipulate and alter the forms of whatever he conjured. His arrows were as wide and varied as snowflakes and carried enough differences to be considered more than Heilig Pfeil at times. In other cases he could use it to form the blades of Seele Schneider and Seele Wyrger or even form platforms within the sky.

  • Hirenkyaku Master (飛廉脚; lit. "Flying Screen Step/God Step"): An advanced Quincy technique, it is essentially the Quincy variant of the Shinigami Shunpo and the Arrancar Sonido. It is utilized by generating Reishi beneath the feet of the user and then riding the flow to their intended destination. Those who use it don't actually appear to be moving and instead simply appear at each location they travel to, which makes it seem like teleportation. Roshan is a master of this ability to the point that he is considered one of its best practitioners among the ranks of the Wandenreich. While normally a blur would be present when one uses the technique, his is used with such a level of speed that he simply vanishes without a trace only to appear at the next point within the next instant. There is a noticeable lag between disappearing and reappearing from one point to another which is the only way to realize that Roshan isn't actually teleporting instantaneously, though he does attempt to pass it off as such in combat for those caught unaware. With his training in Zitterngöttlich, Roshan is capable of performing the Kasaneawase Hirenkyaku (重ね合わせ飛廉脚, "Superposition of the Flying Screen Step/God Step"), an advanced variant of the Hirenkyaku and one of the most powerful abilities available to the Quincy. By oscillating the spiritual particles within his body he can cause a "split" to occur at the moment his body enters a state of superposition, this allows the user to split his various states into living, breathing and entirely functional clones of the user. These clones are not only functional but capable of independent thought as well as being maintained physically forcing one who wishes to dispatch them to actually strike a killing blow. Roshan is capable of making three clones of himself at once.
  • Platform Manifestation: With each "instance" of Hirenkyaku, the user must gather Reishi beneath their feet in order for them to ride the flow to the next point, but if they retain that energy beneath their feet and solidify it they can instead manifest a disc of spiritual energy to serve as a platform. The strength of these platforms is different for every Quincy and how much energy they gather when using Hirenkyaku. In Roshan's case, the platform is extremely fragile and very likely to crumble to bits if struck, the Persian Quincy utilizes it less so for proper combat purposes and more for simple annoyance. Roshan has shown the capability to "stick" to these platforms, standing on them at vertical angles and even whilst upside down.
  • Blut (血装 (ブルート), Burūto; German for "Blood"; Japanese for "Blood Guise") is an advanced Quincy technique that greatly augments their offensive and defensive capabilities into the realm of the inhuman. This is done by manipulating a "Reishi network" throughout the body in order to flow Reishi into the blood stream. These networks are separate from one another, and cannot be utilised simultaneously, meaning Quincy must choose to prioritise defense or offense in the moment. Echt, such as Roshan, are born with innate access to Blut, and as such have a lot more time to train and master its utilities. Roshan is extremely adept with its use, able to switch between these networks so quickly that one wouldn't even notice. His body's capacity for Reishi has grown over long years of use, allowing him to flow large quantities of it through himself without risking damage to himself.
  • Blut Vene (静血装 (ブルート・ヴェーネ), Burūto Vēne; German for "Blood Vein", Japanese for "Stilled Blood Guise"): The defensive form of Blut, it works be creating a traceable flow of Reishi through the veins of the user causing them to glow when struck. It grants the user an immense increase in defense in order to allow the, normally, mortal Quincy to go up against foes such as Shinigami and Hollows without every wound being fatal. Roshan has noted that his Blut Vene is weaker than the average, due to his reliance on his Schrift. Primarily he uses it to shrug off the more basic attacks of his opponents, where it is strong enough to resist clashing against swords and low-level Kidō spells.
  • Blut Arterie (動血装 (ブルート・アルテリエ), Burūto Aruterie; German for "Blood Artery", Japanese for "Moving Blood Guise"): The offensive form of Blut, and for Roshan, the most often used variant. Unlike Blut Vene, there is no visible indicator that Blut Arterie is in use, making it somewhat insidious in nature. With it empowering him, Roshan is able to go toe-to-toe with a variety of opponents such as the infamous founding captains of the Gotei 13, who were regarded as its strongest generation. When in use, Roshan's physical strength becomes positively monstrous, punches and kicks become capable of rattling the bones of his opponents and can cause small craters in concrete when impacted against. He is able to use Blut Arterie to "charge" his arrows, further empowering to greatly increase his already stellar firepower, this effect takes various forms, from causing his arrows to glow brighter to crystallizing them. With his Schrift, he is able to forego using Blut Vene, allowing him to keep Blut Arterie active almost all the time.
  • Blut Arterie Anbinden (動血装鎖 (ブルート・アルテリエ・アンビンデン), Burūto Aruterie Anbinden; German for "Tethering the Blood Artery"; Japanese for "Chain of Moving Blood Guise"): Roshan possesses the ability to extend his Blut Arterie outside of his body, projecting it from himself onto nearby surfaces where it can further travel towards its target. It climbs over whatever its targeting, appearing like constricting red vines, wrapping around its victims. In order to fuel its expansion and maintain its existence, it devours Roshan's internal organs, forcing him to use his Schrift to prevent it from killing him. In exchange for such a steep price, Roshan is afforded the ability to wrest control of whatever is bound in Blut Arterie Anbinden from its owners, be that their own bodies or their weapons and abilities. With it, he can even temporarily halt a Zanpakutō from entering its release states. Roshan considers the technique a counterpart to Yhwach's Blut Vene Anhaben, which he, in fact, designed it to counter.
  • Blut Kapillare (医血装 (ブルート・カピラー), Burūto Kapirā; German for "Blood Capillary", Japanese for "Healing Blood Guise"): A tertiary form of Blut, used to mend and heal injuries that a Quincy may sustain. The ability works by using the Reishi network inside the body to flood their wounds with spiritual energy and convert it in order to replace and repair the affected areas. This allows Roshan to repair broken bones, restore burned and broken flesh, and even regenerate lost organs as needed. Its effect is only truly potent in areas of dense Reishi, such as Soul Society, where he can have access to an essentially infinite amount of energy. In the Human World, Blut Kapillare is reduced to being something more akin to a form of first aid, where Roshan can use it to close wounds and temporarily alleviate internal injury. He relied on the technique often before gaining his Schrift, which essentially replaced it for him.
  • Blut Vaskulär (凝固血装 (ブルート・ヴァスクラレ), Burūto Vasukurare; German for "Blood Vascular"; Japanese for "Clotting Blood Guise"): Like Anbinden and Anhaben, Blut Vaskulär is an externalisation of Blut Kapillare, allowing Roshan to confer its healing and reparative properties onto the outside world. He can use it to heal the injuries of others, or even fix and augment inanimate objects. When in use, blue vein-like patterns appear, running across whatever is being affected by him.

Gintō Master: Gintō is the name both for the Quincy art of spellcasting and the implements required to use those spells. In fact Gintō itself is only the name of one iteration of spellcraft, as a myriad others exist, created by the numerous different tribes of Quincy. Mastery in this art comes from learning not only the spells but how to make their catalysts as well. Roshan is exceptionally gifted in the art and, owing to his long life, a rare example of a master practiced in multiple iterations of Gintō from his native Persian tribe to the talisman-reliant Chinese Xiemaibo. He can make any number and type of catalyst for his spells, often carrying a large multitude of materials on his person, and the repertoire of magic at his disposal is yet another tool in his large arsenal that makes him an incredibly dangerous fighter. With his overlap in various schools, he can even use similar spells in order to confuse his opponents, as most of their differences are a matter of catalyst and incantation such as Lántǎ and Sprenger. Due to his long practice, Roshan is highly adept and exceedingly quick at reciting the incantations for his spells, and the physical process of setting them out, often doing so before his opponents can even react. As a matter of precaution, he almost always carries materials for his spell ahead of a battle. On average, twenty tubes of liquid Gintō are stored on a pouch on his belt, whilst two extra are hidden in his boot. Alongside them he carries a row of paper talismans and coins, in addition to a few capsules of powder and several sticks of chalk.

  • Greifvogel (軽目 (グライフ・フォーゲル), Guraifufōgeru; German for "Bird of Prey"; Japanese for "Light Eyes"): Requiring a small Gintō filled with soul-synthesized water, this spell was a common tool of the Aufklärung in their capacity as scouts. By drawing the fluid onto a finger and then dabbing it onto his face, just below his eyes, Roshan is able to greatly augment his vision, both physical and spiritual. As it takes effect, a pair of small hovering spheres appear in front of his pupils, and so long as they remain there, Roshan benefits from deeply strengthened perception. Using it he was able to see across three entire Rukongai districts in order to strike a target at the other end of them. In moments he could scan through the city of Istanbul and immediately identify those possessing notable Reiryoku, particularly, his target, Sōken Ishida.[12] Additionally, he can use it perfectly visualize and single out the Reiraku of individuals, such that he was able to identify all of the captains of the Gotei 13 during the Lichtreich's invasion.
  • Honōshō Seijin (炎鐘聖人, Blaze Chime Saint): By preparing paper talismans engraved with Japanese calligraphy, made using soul-synthesized ink, the user is able to instill these talismans with various properties that evoke spells. With the characters of its name, Roshan is able to use Honōshō Seijin. He slaps the talisman on to his leg, pouring a small amount of spiritual energy into it which causes the talisman to disintegrate and his leg to ignite into a blazing blue fire. The following attack is greatly bolstered, such that Roshan could send a captain-level Shinigami flying a great distance. In addition, the fire transfers to them, causing highly effective burns. The German Gemischt possessed an imitation of this spell, known as Rückstoss (推進器蹴る (ラクストス), Rakusutosu; German for "Thrust"; Japanese for "Propeller Kick"). By tossing a capsule filled with soul-synthesized fluid into the air and then kicking it, they could achieve the same burning limb effect. There is an incantation required to activate this variant.[4] Roshan knows both versions of the technique, allowing him to better make use of his limited resources.
  • Bāofú (包袱 (パフ), Pafu; Chinese for "Burden"): Roshan carries with him a set of talismans, resembling cash coins. The majority of these talismans are pressed into a square shape, with a singular hole in the middle. Engraved on these coins is the Han character 土 (earth), though the hole in the coin partially obscures it. In addition, the character is further surrounded by four more on the cardinal points of the coin. While each of them resemble a regular Han character, they are altered in such a way as to obscure their meaning. They are part of a Quincy cipher, which Roshan expresses they mean "The Father's blood guides the self" (父血導自, Lit. Chinese for "Father, Blood, Guide, Self"). By placing these talismans at five distinct points, Roshan is able to mark an area for the spell, and by manipulating the Reishi in the earth, activate it. Upon activation, the designated region experiences an intense pressure akin to a crushing wave of gravity. Ordinarily, the spell is only strong enough to slow things down, as if trapping someone in a mire, but when used in places rich in Reishi it is strong enough to crush both objects and people. Roshan is completely unaffected by the spell, even while in its radius, due to carrying a counter talisman on his person. Should the talisman be destroyed, then he will also suffer its full effects. With it Roshan is able to subdue even captain-level Shinigami.
  • Kýklos (剣斬撃 (キクロス), Kikurosu; Greek for "Circle"; Japanese for "Slash of the Sword"): Using soul-synthesized chalk, Roshan draws a circle onto a surface before briefly striking it with his palm, pulsing his Reiryoku through the chalk and activating the spell. Upon ignition, the matter within the radius of the circle is converted into spiritual energy and then launched forward as a large cylindrical pillar — Not too dissimilar to the German Quincy's Heizen. Despite its lackluster flair, the spell is quite powerful, able to punch through even sturdier Hollow or Shinigami. Anything the pillar touches is disintegrated, seemingly broken down into basic Reishi particles as the construct passes through them. Interestingly, the spell is able to even break down objects made of Kishi, the building blocks of the World of the Living.
  • Jaini (悪意霊 (ジャイニ), Jaini; Persian for "Wicked Spirit"; Japanese for "Spirit of Malice"): Opening a small Gintō container, Roshan dabs a blue powder onto his finger, before using it to draw a horizontal line on the ground in front of himself. Revealing a second Gintō, he pops it open and allows its liquid contents to pour out. As the fluid comes into contact with the marked ground, it splashes upward, becoming a large wave that appears to wash over Roshan, only to evaporate just before making contact. This is triggers a mixed offense-defense spell that acts as a form of autonomous protection and interception for its caster. A nearly imperceptible mist surrounds Roshan, and once something he deems a threat gets too close, it lunges out to destroy whatever it may be. When the mist moves to attack, it becomes visible, a near transparent haze of blue gas. It deals with its targets by "eating" at the Reishi making up their form, causing them to collapse, often violently. It is a powerful and malleable spell that provides near-instant protection from all angles, with its ability to destroy causing it to be considered one of the strongest Gintō spells in existence. While its initial form cannot be seen, the spell leaves a foul smell in the air, tipping those cautious off to its presence.
  • Sprenger (破芒陣 (シュプレンガ), Shupurenga; German for "Explosion"; Japanese for "Breaking Caespitose Formation"): An elaborate spell making use of several Seele Schneider placed at five points that generate a pentagonal-shaped seal, imprisoning a target before a liquid Gintō is used to detonate the accumulated Reishi, generating a powerful explosion intended to wipe out those trapped in its grasp. Roshan is highly skilled in its use and deployment, such that it could've been considered his signature technique, if not for the vastness of his repertoire. As a battle unfolds, he is almost always setting up for its use, subtly spreading out the required Seele Schneider while keeping his opponent unawares, and within their grasp. He is able to deploy the final step of the technique incredibly quickly, so much so, that he rarely, if ever, makes use of the technique's ability to trap his target at its center, foregoing it because he's usually able to trigger its explosion before they become aware of it.
    • Titanenhaft Sprenger (破芒陣の凌ぐ (チタネンハプト・シュプレンガ), Titanenhaputo Shupurenga; German for "Titanic Explosion", Japanese for "Eclipse of the Breaking Caespitose Formation"): An incredibly complex version of the Sprenger technique that is almost impossible to use on one's own. At its most basic, the Titanenhaft Sprenger is essentially a simultaneous-use group of Sprenger techniques that combine into one truly colossal explosion. Working in tandem with a group of Soldat, Roshan set up the overly elaborate trap throughout the Seireitei, and with a series of signal flares, gave them the command to simultaneously trigger their individual Sprengers at the same time he did so as to unleash the titanic attack on an unsuspecting Mamoru Nakatani. Though the attack did not kill the marshal, it was the first attack to do to any significant harm, and was fatal enough to bring him to a near-death state.[11]
Schrift

The Re— (多目的 (ザ・リ—, Za Ri—; Japanese for "Multi-Purpose"): Roshan was granted a Schrift against his will that acts both as a great boon and a terrible curse for him. A relatively obtuse power in function, Roshan describes it as being a form of "outcome manipulation". Whenever an event occurs within his immediate vicinity, he is able to expend his own Reiryoku in order to alter what has happened, even going so far as to undo the event in question entirely. He uses this power by declaring a word that connects to his Epithet, and as such can declare "Redirect" in order to have it so that an attack that struck him was instead cast off elsewhere, or he may call out "Relive" or "Repeat" in order to cause an attack he inflicted on someone to occur a second time, forcing his opponent to suffer doubly so for a singular attack. Roshan does not need to alter the 'whole' of an event and has full ability to select which parts of what has most recently transpired that he wishes to change. In this way he can alter his opponents and his own attacks amidst battle while allowing numerous other factors to remain in play or be removed as he sees fit, for example, allowing his opponent to get close to him, but altering their attacks so that they miss, or didn't happen at all, which then leaves them open for him to follow-up with an attack of his own. The only limits to his power are his own quantity of Reiryoku, which is noticeably high for a Quincy, and that the effects he can muster all must directly follow from his Epithet's title. The variety of words to this effect are quite numerous, however, and give Roshan access to a heedlessly deep repertoire, making him very difficult to fight or predict.

  • Return (復活点 (リターン), Ritān; Japanese for "Resurrection Point"): The one command that Roshan himself can't invoke, and the point that is expressly termed a "curse". Instilled within his soul alongside the fragment of Yhwach's soul that gave him his power, this effect is subconsciously activated at the time of Roshan's death. Rather than pass away and have his soul become part of Yhwach's power as is typical of a Sternritter, Roshan is instead returned to the place where his Quincy tribe once lived; a land turned to ashes by Yhwach's own hands and the root of much of Roshan's personal trauma. Though he returns to this specific location every time this power is triggered, he does not regress to that same point in time, maintaining his current knowledge and capabilities, which may appear to be more beneficial than not, though it is ultimately why he became a death seeker. Roshan experiences the complete culmination of his death before his revival occurs, with all of the psychological consequences that may inflict, and it is noted that this effect of his Epithet remembers each manner in which he has ever died. Yhwach can call the command "Relive" in order to have Roshan re-experience these accumulated deaths in real time, as a means of keeping him in line, as while the pair are technically enemies, Yhwach yet has plans for him.
  • Revise (銀峰 (リバイス), Ribaisu; Japanese for "Silver Peak"): A command with a variety of uses, in particular Roshan uses it to prevent his power from being sealed whenever he uses Quincy: Letzt Stil which allows him to completely circumvent the flaws of the infamous technique.
Spirit Weapon

Spirit Weapon[]

Xodâbâl (迫持天治世 (ショダバル), Shodabaru; Persian for "Godwing"; Japanese for "Arc of the Heavenly Reign") is the name given to Roshan's signature Spirit Weapon. By raising his hand and drawing in Reishi from the surrounding environment and combining it with his Reiryoku, Roshan is able to construct an ornate longbow, a personalised version of the traditional Quincy weapon. Its body is made out of silver, taking a typical shape with uniform limbs resting on a natural curve. Part ways up the arms of the bow, the interior side adorns itself with branches of feather-shaped protrusions, making the bow look like a set of wings, spread across its limbs. On the front face of the bow two parallel lines of blue trace its entire length. The bow being made out of solid material, rather than the ephemeral blue light of the basic Quincy bow is a mark of mastery over the Leiden Hant. Xodâbâl does not possess a bow string naturally, instead Roshan forges one out of a shimmering blue Reishi the moment before he fires a shot, and can do so with stunning speed and regularity. With this bow, Roshan can typically kill the average Shinigami and Hollow with only a single shot, and inflict grievous injuries on harder opponents. He is able to modify the size of his bow at will, transforming it into a greatbow or a small compact bow, he can even manifest multiple copies of it, at one point going so far as to duplicate his bow and join them together. All of these variations have an impact on how fast and how strong his shots are.

  • Heilig Pfeil (神聖滅矢 (ハイリッヒ・プファイル), Hairihhi Pufairu; German for "Holy Arrow"; Japanese for "Sacred Destruction Arrows"): By absorbing Reishi from his surroundings, Roshan can forge them into arrows to loose from his bow. Typically these arrows appear as blue energy, but by concentrating more of his power into them, they become a viridian shade. These arrows possess defined arrowheads with a small curved depression in the bottom. The body of the arrow is wrapped by tight, thin green cloth and the ends of each arrow are shaped like the Quincy Zeichen. Roshan can form and fire his arrows near-instantaneously, having been able to form his bow and loose a volley of arrows on Mamoru Nakatani in the span of a single breath.[11] He can alter the size of his arrows at will, shrinking or enlarging them as necessary to fit his purposes. He can angle his arrows in different ways before firing them, allowing him to ricochet them off of one another, which not only obscures the paths they will inevitably take, but can be used to create an "arrow" wall that can impede attempts to intercede against him. In a single burst Roshan can fire up to a total of 3,205 arrows consecutively.
    • Licht Regen (光の雨 (リヒト・レーゲン), Rihito Rēgen; German/Dutch for "Light Rain", Japanese for "Rain of Light"): Roshan gathers great quantities of Reishi into his arm before unleashing a volley of countless arrows at his target. These arrows are formed with such speed and move with great enough velocity that they appear like droplets of rain, pouring down on a target with relentless firepower. Roshan is able to fire off the technique instantaneously, using only his own Reiryoku to unleash the volley or he can delay it, to pool in Reishi from the environment in order to augment its potential damage.
      • Rotekiyoru (露滴夜, Dew Drops at Night): Roshan forges an arrow independent of his Spirit Weapon, condensing it several times until its form is packed with enough spiritual energy as to appear solid, as if it were made out of hardened crystal. He aligns it with his bow and looses it as one would a regular Heilig Pfeil. Whilst in flight, the arrow cracks and then shatters, exploding into a sudden hail of Licht Regen, typically doing so once close enough to a target to making evading the true attack almost impossible.
    • Nilufar-e Âbi (舞矢 (ニルファレ・アビ), Nirufare Abi; Persian for "Water Lily"; Japanese for "Dancing Arrow"): With his Spirit Weapon in his left hand, Roshan holds it upward, while making a drawing motion with his right, pulling downward. He manifests a radiant pink arrow with a tip shaped like the petals of a lotus flower. Once fired, the petals of the arrowhead detach one-by-one, and as they do, cause the arrow to veer wildly off course, making it appear to be bouncing around. This effect is repeated for every petal that makes up the arrow's tip, and with each iteration, the arrow becomes faster and faster, wildly shooting around a target before finally lunging in for the kill. As the arrow hits its mark, it and the petals lingering around in the air all explode in a powerful cascade. At a minimum Roshan is shown to form an arrow with 5 petals and with a maximum of 12.
    • Lóng Zhuī Hǔ (龙追虎 (ロングチューフー), Lungchuhu; Chinese for "Dragon Chasing Tiger"): Roshan leaps backward whilst unleashing two Heilig Pfeil that swirl around each other in flight, eventually drawing close enough that they collide against one another and explode. Erupting from them is a large serpentine dragon that continues to pursue their original target. Widening its jaws as it lunges in to strike its opponent, instead of biting them, the dragon washes over them, its form collapsing into a sea of fire that continues to intensify and spread as the rest of the dragon's body catches up with its head, like a burning fuse.
    • Skíastro (矢明白光景 (スキアストロ), Sukiasutoro; Greek for "Sunshade"; Japanese for "Arrows in Plain Sight"): Using only one hand, Roshan forms Xodâbâl and unleashes a volley of Heilig Pfeil at a target. With his other hand he expels a series of energy trails from his finger tips, each trail covered in Roman numerals that enter into his own shadow. The shadows of his arrows in flight all begin to glow, and then a moment later, a second volley appears, instantly doubling his assault. He can control these arrows independently from the originals, even going so far as to shoot them at entirely different targets if he so chooses.

Reishi Flag Spear: A large war-banner used by Roshan to signal the arrival of the Lichtreich in battle. It takes the form of a tall spear with a simple pointed head, and a large flag emblazoned with the symbol of the Lichtreich. It is, in reality, a large Heilig Pfeil that is traditionally summoned by Yhwach. By firing a single arrow into the sky, the Quincy Emperor manifests a massive bow at the point where the arrow would begin to arc. The bow looses a gigantic arrow that would land by Roshan's side, revealing itself to be the banner in question. It is many magnitudes stronger than the average Quincy arrow, and Roshan is intimately skilled in wielding it as a weapon, be it for melee or archery. He is capable of summoning the spear on his own, should he wish to, though his version is not as strong as his lord's.

Quincy: Letzt Stil

Remiel: Letzt Stil[]

Remiel: Letzt Stil (魂慈悲・最終形態 (ラミエル・レツトシュティール), Ramieru Retsutoshutīru; German for "Last Style"; Japanese for "Mercy of God: Final Form") is a unique usage of the infamous Quincy last resort technique. In order to activate it, Roshan breaks the top limb attached to his Leiden Hant, causing the entire glove to disappear while his body is bathed in an explosive outpour of spiritual energy. As the towering light of Reiryoku fades away, Roshan appears clad in a form of armour. While normally he likes to hide his body underneath his cloak to mask his movements, the majority of the buttons on it are undone, except the top two, allowing much of his body to be visible. The left side of his chest adorns a series of armoured plates that become larger the further away each segment is from the center of his chest. Adorned over his left shoulder is a curved pauldron with exposed trimmings on the top and bottom. His right side is covered in full plate, with a high collar, though without armour covering the shoulder. Further, this section of armour completely covers Roshan's back. Both of his forearms are covered by vambraces with short interiors that only protect the wrist whilst the exterior side reaches up as far as his elbows. A red cloth is wrapped around much of his lower left side. Each of the metal plates is marked by a series of parallel red lines and the back of his chest plate is embossed with the Quincy Zeichen. On his right side a large back-facing quiver is strapped to his leg, wrapped at two points just above his shin and on his upper thigh. This quiver draws in massive amounts of Reishi from the environment, visible as a huge wing-like plume of blue light. On Roshan's left side there is a second wing, this one made out of a large span of silver feather plumes. The red parts of this form are a symbolic attachment to the Lichtreich, consequently, when Roshan joined up with its modern incarnation in the Wandenreich, this form appeared in blue instead. Through the nature of his Epithet "The Re—", Roshan is able to overcome the natural drawback of the Letzt Stil, restoring his powers even when they should be sealed.

  • Xodâbâl: Letzt Stil (迫持天治世・最終形態, Japanese for "Arc of the Heavenly Reign: Final Form"): Roshan can construct an enhanced version of his signature Spirit Weapon, which takes the form of a series of blade-like feathers, six in total that hover around his right forearm. Four of these wings float at the cardinal points around his wrist while one sits on the upper right diagonal point and the final one is opposite that at the lower left. By manipulating the wings he can form a variety of different bows that alter his range, firing speed and power. Among these forms he has shown to be able to draw the feathers forward, clasping around a Reishi-forged grip to use as a crossbow; aligning the feathers above and below his wrist to form a typical longbow; forming a pair of bow limbs on the diagonal feathers to create a slanted bow. Regardless of the form taken, each of these bows retain the same characteristics of silver limbs with blue tracing patterns running their length. The feathers are strong enough to withstand sword strikes, and are likewise sharp enough that Roshan can use them to pierce his opponents.
  • Enhanced Heilig Pfeil: By drawing Reishi from the quiver on his right, Roshan can form augmented Heilig Pfeil that possess a great deal more power than normal, capable of a great deal of environmental damage with singular shots as they detonate into impressive explosions on contact.
  • Heilig Lanze (神聖滅投槍 (ハイリッヒ・ランス), Hairihhi Ransu; German for "Holy Lance"; Japanese for "Sacred Destruction Throwing Spear"): Roshan clasps his hands together as light brims between them, separating them dramatically as a large javelin forms in the growing space between them. Carrying a viridian colour and constructed of incredibly condensed Reishi and Reiryoku that causes the spear to look as if it was made of crystal, it is an implement of incredible destruction. Roshan calls it his strongest "arrow", and when thrown, is implied to be capable of instantly killing a Shinigami captain on contact. When detonated it erupts into a massive pillar that evokes the Quincy cross at the top. Despite its primary use to be thrown, Roshan is capable of using it for melee combat.
  • Enhanced Hirenkyaku: His swiftness is vastly increased while using Letzt Stil, to the point that he is seen as almost impossible to strike directly. When he moves in this state, he appears to disappear instantaneously, before appearing at his destination in the next instant. As a he moves, a singular feather appears in the places where he steps with Hirenkyaku, leaving a sort of trail of his path.
  • Immense Spiritual Power: Roshan's spiritual power is greatly increased while this state is active, far beyond the means that an ordinary human body should be able to maintain. Already possessed of a great deal of spiritual power, Roshan was considered a threat even by the original captains of the Gotei 13.
    • The Re— (Enhanced): As a result of his increased Reiryoku, Roshan's theoretical limits with his Epithet are also bolstered, though given its obscure nature, the depth of this effect is unknown.
  • Reishi Dominance: With Letzt Stil active, Roshan's already great competency in absorbing Reishi becomes that akin to domination, the buildings and walls of the Soul Society quickly fall apart and turn into energy for him to absorb. The speed with which he could do this was extraordinary, completely dissolving the entire 12th Division barracks within a matter of seconds. It has been surmised that Roshan in this state, is only one step removed from true domination over Reishi.

Quincy: Vollständig[]

Daeva (神拒絶後 (ダエーワ), Daēwa; Japanese for "Gods That Are (To Be) Rejected") is the name given to the Quincy: Vollständig that Roshan developed for himself, however he never uses it, instead passing on this state to his protégé Adonai. The form is a successor of his original attempts to create a method to kill Yhwach, and is, in effect, a kind of "Anti-Quincy" weapon, capable of reflecting and eliminating the powers of Gods.

Alternative Powers & Abilities[]

Quincy Powers & Abilities
In the setting of Bleach: Equilibrium, Roshan made use of the spell Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger, which was never fully shown in its only appearance in the manga, as such, an original interpretation of the spell and its effects were created.

Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger (聖唱: 聖域礼賛 (キルヒエンリード・サンタズイガー), Kiruhienrīdo: Santa Zuingaa; German for "Church Hymn: Saint Ward", Japanese for "Chant of the Gods: Santa Zwinger"): The ultimate defensive spell in any Quincy arsenal, said to bring down the might of God upon anyone foolish enough to enter its radius.[14] Learning this spell is no easy feat, requiring an unparalleled level of skill and talent to be able to successfully train and master its intricate potential. While it is a spell made for defense, it is also a very capable offensive technique as well. Roshan made use of the technique by spreading out four Seele Schneider at set points and snapping his fingers to activate the spell. In an instant a massive fortress composed of Reishi in the surrounding area forms around those within its reach. The fortress is made out of a series of pillars of light, each shaped like a Quincy cross. A final, massive cross forms in the center which serves to prevent those trapped inside from escaping. All expressed forms of Reiatsu and Reiryoku from its prisoners is cut off from the outside, causing things such as Kadō spells to collapse without their controller to maintain them.[4] The spiritual energy of those inside it is then turned against them, first becoming a crushing gravity that possesses strength equal to the energy reserves of its target. The energy of the victims and the construct coalesce and condense, essentially flooding them with Reiatsu until the body can no longer withstand it, causing them to implode. Despite the seeming certain death of such a technique, all of its victims survived.[4]

Schrift
In the setting of Bleach: Equilibrium, Roshan is Sternritter "M" — "The Mastery", which even he is uncertain of, claiming the title might have been purely symbolic, but, regardless, had left him with a certain "variability".[10] He would later have Vitor Zeferino use his Epithet The Lore in order to bestow other Schrift upon himself, beginning with The Superstar and then The Jail.

The Jail (監獄 (ザ・ジェイル), Za Jeiru; Japanese for "Prison"): The former Epithet of Quilge Opie.[15] With it, Roshan was granted the ability to form cage-like constructs of Reishi that could contain anything,[16] except Quincy.[17] Roshan used this power to entrap the Marshal of the South Mamoru Nakatani, preventing the ridiculously powerful being from escaping his preparations for the Titenhaft Sprenger. Though he only possessed Quilge's Schrift briefly, Roshan showed himself to be incredibly capable with it, imprisoning Nakatani almost instantly after receiving the power, and having enough control to perfectly time its release so that the Balancer was only freed the instant before the Titenhaft Sprenger detonated on top of him.[11]

The Superstar (英雄 (ザ・スーパースター), Za Sūpāsutā; Japanese for "Hero"): The former Epithet of Mask De Masculine.[18] With an acute understanding of this Epithet, Roshan and Vitor prepared an elaborate ritual in order for the former to be able to fight Mamoru Nakatani on even terms. Moments prior to bestowing this power upon Roshan, Vitor worked the Soldat of the Wandenreich into a fervor, loud enough that it could be heard even from outside Silbern. Both men wore earpieces that directly fed the chants of their soldiers to them, and as soon as these chants began, Roshan's body bulked up intensely, destroying the upper half of his uniform.[10] With this Epithet, his physical attributes were boosted astronomically, with a single punch he catapulted Nakatani into a wall some distance away, and his attacks carried such momentum that he struggled to control them. He was fast enough that he could keep up with Nakatani despite the latter using his Jiūkǔndao's abilities. Additionally, he and his charges, Vitor especially, were bestowed incredible regenerative capabilities. Roshan actively ignored the Balancer's attacks resulting in profusely bleeding wounds and even a broken spine, which momentarily fixed themselves right after, whilst Vitor managed to regenerate from being split in half by the spiritual warrior. Nakatani would ultimately realise too late, that even the battlefield they fought on was a feint, as so long as Roshan could hear his subordinates, his power did not fade.[11] The soldiers and Vitor are connected to Roshan by The Superstar, preventing them from being killed so long as he was still standing.[19]

Quotes[]

  • (To the Sternritter) "I'll be sending a few of you down, with Lurch here as your guide, the goal is to hit the lowest floor of Hell as quickly as possible and then hit the Balancers as hard as you can, don't give them a moment to think or retaliate, as soon as they try, you come home, alright. As for who gets this dubious honour, Tim, you an' the Iron Giant can be the leads for this one, Girado, Kaede, Haiiro, and, Kerri, you get to be their cheer team."
  • (To Hikari Maebure) "If it was me, I'd have just chucked blood and let you be on your merry way, but the old geezer insisted."
  • (To Mamoru Nakatani) "As thanks for that tidbit, big guy, lemme tell you one a' mine. Y'see, I'm technically Ritter M, but its purely symbolic, I don't have any fancy powers like the rest of 'em, maybe Yhwach was being poetic, I dunno, but it left me with... we'll call it, a degree of variability."
