"I loathe perfection. If something is perfect, then there is nothing left. There is no room for imagination. No place left for a person to gain additional knowledge or abilities. Do you know what that means? For scientists such as ourselves, perfection only brings despair."

Gin
Emotions? Nope, I’ve got nothing like that. I told you when we first met, didn’t I? I’m a snake. With cold skin, no emotions, that slithers around searching for prey with its tongue, swallowing down whatever looks tasty.”

–Neko Tsuki

Neko Tsuki (月 猫 tsuki neko) was the third seat of the Third Division under Captain Gin Ichimaru and Lieutenant Kira Izuru. She was later forced to betray Soul Society along with Sōsuke Aizen.

Appearance[]

Neko is a skinny girl with vanilla colored skin. She considers herself to be short among the other soul reapers. She has a slender body to go with her short size. Her eyes are aquamarine, a good balance between blue and green. She has average lashes and thin eyebrows. Neko's hair is mid-length, reaching down to the middle of her back. Her hair is syrup brown with dyed velvet purple tips that extend from her shoulders to her mid-back. Her hair is well kept and wavy. She prefers to keep it down but she takes care of it. It also has a soft feel. Neko where's the regular shinigami shihakusho uniform with an obi tied around her waist. She also wears the standard shinigami tabi socks and sandals.

After joining Aizen's army Neko cuts off her velvet purple tips, cutting it to be just above her shoulders. Her hair becomes slightly messy but fashionably, like a tomboy style. She wears a black and white sleeveless crop top. The crop top flares out at the top, creating an open black collar that reaches outward. It goes up a few inches above her chin. The collar connects in the middle of her chest with the same black color trailing down, opening again just above her naval to make a triangle shape that wraps around her body. The opening for the sleeves has a black rim around it. Her arms have a black obi tied all around the arm like bandages until it stops just below her hands. Neko has a short black obi tied around her waist as well. She wears a pair of torn white Hakama's making them appear to be shorts. This was due to an incident with Grimmjow Jeagerjaques. She wears the standard Arrancar shoes that stop just above her knee caps. She also wears an aquamarine choker that matches her eyes. It was a special gift from someone she admires.

Personality[]

Neko is a particularly introverted woman. She keeps to herself most of the time and tends to do things on her own. When she's around her friends her childish nature begins to show along with a playful side to her. If anyone gets a personal or intimate level with Neko they will find her to be carefree and quite chatty as well.

Neko doesn't find it too complicated to get along with people, but she's not the one to make the first move in making an acquaintanceship or friendship. Neko carries a respectful attitude with anyone she meets, even if they are ower ranking then her. She doesn't see people for their title, but for how they act around others and her. She does, however, give the utmost respect to her elders.

Neko tries her best not to end up on anyone's bad side, but at times she slips up without first realizing what she said/did until it's too late. Neko takes her training and academics very seriously, but since she's not very outgoing, doing work, training, or simply reading a book is a way she gets things off her mind.

This brings up her curious characteristics. She likes to dig deeper into questions that intrigue her and once something manages to pique her interest she finds it suitable to get to the bottom of it as quickly as possible. This doesn't mean that she doesn't overlook things.

One important aspect she values above all others is her friends. She grows attached to those close to her and the way she acts around the friend can vary. If anyone causes harm or intentional/cruel mockery to her friends she becomes persistent in challenging them or holds a grudge until she figures out her next course of action.

Even though she loses her cool at times she tries to keep her head clear and collected until she can figure out what to do. That being said, she will act on an impulse if she is only allotted a short amount of time.

Neko isn't always kind to people who mess with her or her friends and at times she won't be afraid to speak her mind. (Basically, she can lose her cool.)

After joining Aizen's army Neko breaks out of her introverted shell, becoming more outgoing and sarcastic considering that's how most of the residents treat her. She finally grew up from being her shy self and even though she still carries a sensitive characteristic with her she manages to defend herself better than she would have back in Soul Society. She also has a sharp tongue at times but prefers not to snap at people often.

She likes the night, sweets, reading, singing (preferably alone), music, cats, iced chai tea, the seasons, adventures, pranks, science, surprises, water (beaches, pools, etc.). She dislikes coffee, Spiders, Crowds, Getting in trouble, hardcore math, crying (her crying), wasps, sharks, corpses, frilly things.

History[]

In the mid-1800s, Neko was a one-year-old child, growing up in a small town in Tokyo. She lived with her mother and father and their Norweigan Forest cat Daiki (Great Nobility). Neko's mother was a kind and caring woman, putting her best foot forward. On the other hand, Neko's father was a greedy man, spending little money on home repairs or meals. His reason for this was due to the want to leave their small home so he could get a better job and bring in more income for the family. Basically, he tried to take shortcuts in any situation.

One early October morning Neko's father had left to work, as usual, lighting the fireplace before he left. Neko happened to be sound asleep in her crib, dreaming of magical creatures and friendly spirits. Daiki slept peacefully on top of the Refridgerator.

Neko's father doesn't come home until late at night from work so her mother worked as a cleaning maid since her husband thought it would be a quicker way to earn money. She eventually gave in to his wishes, working in different households day after day.

A neighbor about half a mile away from the house asked her to house sit that early morning, but seeing as her child was asleep she didn't want to wake her considering the neighbors family had an unruly golden retriever. After she left, trusting Daiki to watch over the house with his amber colored gaze, she made her way down the street, hoping the job wouldn't take long. The problem was she was clueless to the fireplace being lit.

A few minutes after Neko's mother left, the flames inside the fireplace roared in a furious blaze, rising higher into the chimney. Due to the Neko's dad being the cheap man he was it wasn't often the chimney was cleaned out. He would say, "It's fine, the chimney can wait," or some other excuse to save money.

Actually, though, creosote, which is created from the combustion of the burning wood and/or relatively high flue gas temperatures, is extremely flammable. This can cause a chimney fire. What makes the situation worse is that Neko's home used balloon framing which was a common construction method in the 1800s and early 1900s. In short, if a fire starts in a home constructed using balloon framing, it only takes seconds from flames to spread from floor to roof in seconds, making it almost impossible to stop a fire once it starts.

As the fire roared higher into the chimney the creosote ignited, sending stray ashes and sparks onto the carpet that soon spread throughout the house like a forest fire. Daiki woke from his peaceful slumber and sensed the fire's anger as it spread quickly. The cat bolted towards Neko's room, wrapping his warm body around her as she cried out, choking on the smoke that contaminated her lungs.

Word got around quickly to the neighbors when the firefighters showed up after the fire destroyed nearly half the home, but no one thought that the small child would have been left inside since her wails were choked out by the roaring flames and her parents were nowhere to be found.

Daiki calmly purred into her ear, calming her down so he could keep the smoke from entering her lungs further. That was the thing about Daiki, he had the opportunity to save himself but he stayed wrapped beside the small child because he cared deeply for her as she did for him even though he was seen to be a simple house cat.

Neko fell asleep for the last time and so did Daiki. Neko's mother was unaware of the situation when she had returned from her job and was heartbroken as the flames died down. The firefighters, neighbors, and Neko's mother all found Neko's crib untouched by the flames and Daiki's dead body against Neko's.

It wasn't long after her death that a Soul Reaper performed Konsō on her, sending her to live in Soul Society but the whereabouts of Daiki is unknown.

She lived in one of the higher more dangerous parts of Rukongai and abuse was pretty common for her, especially under her temporary caretakers. All she hardly said was the word Neko (Cat), trying to find her lost companion Daiki. Neko's real name was lost in her childhood memories due to her young age so she was called Neko and that's what she is known as to this day.

Neko later attended the Shinō academy to become a Soul Reaper and help people after she was left to die in Rukongai. She showed promising powers and academics which helped her become top of her class and become recognized by even the Head Captain. She became 3rd seat in division 3 later on for a short time, working on Captain Gin Ichimaru and Lieutenant Izuru Kira before she was forced to betray Soul Society.

Powers and Abilities[]

Neko is a set melee fighter in Shikai and a ranged fighter in Bankai. She prefers to use melee tactics when fighting a hollow or other soul being because she finds fighting at a close range much more effective despite the risks. She tends to hesitate if she is training or battling someone she hardly knows or is close to. On the other hand, if Neko is fighting someone she loathes or hates, she's not afraid to inflict massive damage. She tries to stay collected in battle, not letting her feelings get the best of her. At times she will resort to fighting on impulse since she isn't always a quick thinker. She's not much of a Kido user but she learned most of her techniques through studying and practicing at Shinō academy. Neko focuses more on her wits and tactics more than her own defense, seeing possibilities of evading an attack by her opponent's movements and skills. Neko will use Kido if necessary but will usually not resort to Hakuda due to her strength.

Stats[]

Hand-to-Hand / Hakuda: 4/10

Swordsmanship / Zanjutsu: 9/10

Hohō / Shunpō (flash step): 7/10

Kido: 6/10

Intelligence: 8/10

Reiatsu: 10/10

Drawbacks/Weaknesses:

Neko prefers not to use Hakuda whatsoever. She can do basic blocks and attacks but she will undoubtedly fail. She will try to defend herself for as long as possible though.

If Neko is successfully able to use her Elemental Bomb this will drain most of her spiritual pressure, meaning her zanpakutō will return to its regular form and her strength will be weakened drastically.

Regarding Neko's claws in Shikai, her claws regenerate back a minute after the total effect has been completed on the opponent. The claws start out as stubs, hardening, and sharpening to their original form.

She's not cold-hearted so sometimes she'll hesitate before taking one's life or delivering a fatal blow.

Only Neko's index claws can be released into the skin, no others.

Zanpakutō[]

Appearance:[]

Neko's Zanpakutou is a katana. Its hilt has silver diamonds and with a dark gray Tsukamaki (handle wrapping) wrapped around it. The guard has a Shuriken design with dark gray in the middle and silver on the border. On top of the guard is another ninja star but it's only the border of it with a dark gray color.

The blade of the sword is the traditional silver and dark gray except the colors are switched, having the silver on the top and the dark gray on the bottom.

The sword resides in a deep purple sheath that has a silver crescent moon below the matching colored rim on one side and a four-pointed star on the other side.

Elements: Fire and Lightning

Zanpakutō spirit:[]

Neko's Zanpakutō spirit is named Kitsune. Kitsune got her name after the Kitsune deity Inari and also because she was a fox-a powerful nine-tailed fox. She is also known as Tengoku Kitsune (celestial fox) due to the elements she wields representing heaven and hell. Kitsune is sassy, extremely finicky, and cunning, but she usually tends to get on people's nerves. She rarely lets down her guard. Her appearance is that of a white fox. She has violet and blue tail tips, paws, and ear fluff. (The reason I say violet and blue and not violet-blue is because the colors are mixed together but not to create one color). Her eyes are usually narrowed but underneath they are royal purple.

Shikai:[]

Neko's Shikai is triggered by the release command "Soto no Sekai ni yobikakeru, Tengoku Kitsune" (Call upon the outer worlds, Celestial Fox) or Call upon the outer worlds, Tengoku Kitsune (celestial fox)

Neko's zanpakutō melts with an orange glow, (like burning metal to an incredibly hot flame) molding to her hands to form a metal-like glove that protects her hands. On her fingers, 1/2 inch claws are formed using the katana's blade. They resemble the design of the blade with dark gray on the bottom and silver on the top. Cracks in the gloves illuminate neon blue foxfire which can also change to red or yellow. Neko can't take off these gloves or have them pulled off.

Shikai special abilities:
(Note: Science fact= SF)
  • Nobu (extend) / Tekkai Suru (Retract): Neko can command her claws to lengthen to their full length, 2 1/2 inches, or shorten them to 1/2 inches. Extended, they can leave deep gashes. Retracted, they can slip into the body. (explained under Kaiho Suru). It should be noted that her claws can only be one of the two lengths.
  • Inazuma no tsume (Lightning claws): Neko can channel electricity through her claws at a continuous rate, inflicting her opponents with burns that have the possibility of being deep and severe depending on how much skin the blade breaks.
  • Kitsune no hi (Fox Fire): The foxfire from the cracks from the metal flare out, becoming a neon purple and encasing the glove in the hot fire. The foxfire has the power to leave deep burns and can even incinerate bone if left in the same spot for too long.
SF: The reason the electricity can cause severe burns on the skin and even within the body itself is due to the power dissipation across the body's electrical resistance.
  • Kaihō Suru (Release): After establishing a hold on her opponent, Neko can release her index claw into the opponent's body. This can cause one of two things.
  • Shogeki (shock): Neko slips her index claw into her opponent (both index claws can do this). After the claw has entered the body the light spilling from Neko's gloves becomes a neon yellow. The claw attaches itself to the nerve cells in the nervous system. So, the claw, in turn, overrides this fragile system by effecting the tiny electrical impulses from the neurotransmitters. The claw releases its own conducted electricity which overloads the nervous system and prevents both reflex and volitional signals from being able to actuate the muscles. This basically sends the opponent into a state of pain and paralysis. The claw then dissolves into nothing after a few seconds, but the nervous system remains in a state of paralysis, making it much more difficult for the enemy to attack her for a short time.
SF: The nerve cells are responsible for sending the signals that conduct and process regulations of body functions such as the brain, sensory/motor organs, and spinal cord which allow you to sense, move, respond, think, and remember.
SF: Neko's claws can produce between 50 and 60 milliamperes. When making contact with the 500 ohms resistance inside the body that causes electrons to pass the skin barrier the milliampere value is multiplied with 500 to give you in this case between 25 and 30 volts of electricity which is considered high voltage.' Ex. .05 x 500 = 25 volts
  • Other Internal effects of Shogeki: The electric currents can affect more than just the nervous system. Depending on the organs closest to the claw, the current can paralyze the diaphragm muscles controlling the lungs or heart-which is also a muscle itself. This can leave them in a "frozen" state for a short time. If it happens to affect the heart the organ will be sent into a condition known as fibrillation. If it affects the lungs, then the opponent will have a hard time breathing and getting oxygen to the heart.
SF: A fibrillating heart flutters rather than beats, and is ineffective for pumping blood to vital organs in the body.
  • Jigoku no hitokuchi (Hell's bite): The second effect of the claw entering the body (both index claws can do this). After entering the body the light spilling from Neko's glove becomes an orangish-red color, resembling magma. Instead of attacking the nerves in the opponent's body, the claw gets itself as close to a muscle or bone, as if it were attracting it. After a few seconds from the claw making contact with the opponent's blood or bone, it melts from the intense heat it begins to produce. This, in turn, creates a hot magma substance. The magma trails through the body for a short time, slowly dissolving bone and blood cells, and whatever else happens to be in its way. This creates a slow, painful, torment. The magma will then dissolve and disappear after about a minute since the effect occurs at a slow pace.
Support Ability:
  • Using her Inazuma no tsume Neko can use her power for good. She can use it to "jump-start" an already fibrillating heart to a normal beating pattern by placing her hands on the chest of the unconscious/dying person and sending an electrical current through their chest. (Like a defibrillator).

Bankai:[]

The Release Command for Neko's Bankai is "Bankai, Mezame Kyubiko" (Awaken, nine-tailed fox or Bankai, Awaken Kyuubiko)

Neko holds her sheath firmly in both hands. The sheath becomes black as if the color was drained from it. The metal from her Shikai trails to the top of her sheath, becoming a sharp, holographic, blade that extends out as her sheath lengthens in size. This forms a scythe weapon for her to use. The scythe's blade is said to reflect the cosmos.

(The crescent moon and four-pointed star that was originally on the sheath become one, the moon becoming full. It represents its emblem on the top of the staff, still showing a silver color.)

Neko's appearance begins to change as her teeth become animal-like with sharp k-9's that are longer than regular ones. Her pupils remain in the same round shape, except they become white. One of her irises retains its usual aquamarine color while the other becomes a royal purple color. Under each eye is a silver streak. Her hair extends to her lower back, becoming a shiny platinum silver. Her hair also has a light purple color in the middle of the hair that flows with the silver. Neko sprouts two silver fox ears on the top of her head. She then has a single silver foxtail from her lower back.

Neko wears a pearl white kimono with ends that are torn just past the elbow, revealing an eggplant color inside that extends to her hands. She wears a silver obi tied around her waist and there's a hole in the back between the Hakama and the obi for the foxtails to slip through. The bottom half of Neko's white Kimono is displayed likes a skirt, revealing a part of her left leg. The bottom right displays violet-colored stars-both five and four-pointed. She wears pearl white shinigami shoes, and she also has a laurel wreath around her head with pure white leaves mixed with aquamarine leaves. Neko still wears her aquamarine choker except a silver moon crescent pendant hangs down from it.

Bankai special abilities:
  • Eien no yami (Eternal darkness): Neko drives the pointed end of her scythe into the opponent's shadow, her eyes turning pitch black except for her pupils. The setting around Neko and the opponent of whomever she touches become pitch black. Neko focuses on the target, disappearing from their view even though she resides in the same position from the beginning to the end. Once Neko's zanpakutō spirit can find the opponent's worst fear Neko imagines the scenario in her mind, the setting changing to whatever she chooses based on the fear. The opponent is trapped within the seeming realistic illusion, forced to endure it. While Neko is watching the victim, her scythe is slowly draining away their spiritual pressure.
  • Eien no Hikari (Eternal light): Since Neko's zanpakutō transcends powers of both heaven and hell so she can also use her powers to show the opponent their deepest desires in the form of a realistic illusion. (She uses these two powers based on her opponent.) The opponent is instead blinded by a bright light emitted from Neko's scythe and her eyes remain the same. Their spiritual pressure is still drained at a steady rate.
  • Fox Fire: The foxfire still remains part of her powers, but instead they become will-o-wisps around her. She usually has between two or three around her at a time. She can target one or more at an opponent. She uses them to follow or distract an opponent and even burn them if she's lucky. The fire is still capable of burning through the skin and incinerating bone if it lingers on the same spot for too long. The color appears to be a light purple with a blue color in the middle flame.
  • Hovering: In Bankai, Neko can hover a few inches from the ground at a consistent rate. This boosts her stamina and speed.
  • Hi no ori (Cage of Fire): Neko creates as many as twenty to sixty will-o-wisps. About ten of them circle the opponent, creating a dizzying effect as they spin faster in a mesmerizing display. They can also change color to captivate the opponent. While their distracted Neko creates a cube shape around them. This traps them as the wisps previously circling the opponent continue doing so, keeping the opponent distracted. The cage closes quickly, first catching the opponent's clothes on fire before working away at their skin.
  • Yōso no hakai (Element destruction) She can only use this once!

Following up on her fox tails-another fox tail will form from her lower back after every minute or sometimes even less depending on the setting since reishi can speed up the process. (Basically, if she uses eternal light or eternal darkness on the opponent and manages to steal some of their spiritual pressure if not all of it then that will quicken the speed at which the tails forms.) After all nine tails have formed she can create a bomb, gathering different elements into one powerful orb. Once used, the bomb can destroy anything within a one-mile radius.

Trivia[]

  • Neko's Zanpakutou elements are represented by the greek deity's Hades (fire) and Zeus (electricity).

Quotes[]

"I won't you allow you to hurt them any more!"
"If you touch her again I won't show mercy to you next time."
"My feet drag against the broken pavement beneath my feet, not giving any sign to the trails beginning nor end. The road I take breaks away from behind, forcing me to finish what I've already started. It matters not if I become a hero or a villain in this world. What matters is that I have a goal for myself that I must fulfill. That is my true calling."
