"I loathe perfection. If something is perfect, then there is nothing left. There is no room for imagination. No place left for a person to gain additional knowledge or abilities. Do you know what that means? For scientists such as ourselves, perfection only brings despair."

Kyougoku

An explanation of the Kyōgoku.

Kyōgoku (叫谷, "Roaring Valley"; VIZ "Valley of Screams") is a dimension formed from reishi. While existing as individual spacetimes, it appears that they are all connected in some way to the Dangai Precipice World, which serves as a bridge between the dimensions of reishi and the material world. All forms of the afterlife, which differ depending upon the mythology and culture of a people, are believed to have matured from primordial reishi, influenced by the will of the culture which spawned its existence.

Overview[]

Known Kyōgoku[]

Soul Society[]

Main article: Soul Society Perhaps one of the most developed Kyōgoku is the Soul Society, which houses the Shinigami and the souls which are brought there by the former via soul burial. It is one of the most highly-developed Kyōgoku as it has existed for several thousands of years, if not millions. Because of this, the inhabitants of the Soul Society had eventually forged a permanent pathway through the dimensional gap known to them as the Dangai, which led to connecting the dimensions of Soul Society and the aptly named Human World. It is suggested that the reason for its continuing existence for so long is due in part to the Soul King, who had managed to stabilize the realm many eons ago.
