Kogarashi Hashimoto (橋本木枯し, Hashimoto Kogarashi) is a Soul and student of the Shinō Academy, seeking to join the ranks of the Gotei 13. He is infamous among his fellow students for having gained a named Zanpakutō before even graduating. His real name is Hán Fèng (韓奉, in the Pinyin transliteration of Mandarin Chinese) and he is a member of the Hán family, an ancient and once influential clan within the Seireitei. He is the younger brother of Hán Fāng and Hán Zhāng.

Appearance[]

Kogarashi is a gaint of a man, with a powerful physique to match, full of well toned musculature and a dark complexion. He has neck-length jet black hair that is largely unkempt, forming into a series of messy spikes that fan backwards. The sides are combed back somewhat, pulled into a short ponytail that hangs down Kogarashi's neck, tied by a simple white knot. Some of his hair hangs out over his fringe framing over the left part of his face. He has angular eyes set below a pair of arching thick eyebrows, with blue pupils to them. He has a long nose flanked by slight creases fanning out towards his cheeks as well as lips with strong definitions to them. He wears a highly customized version of the Shinigami uniform composed of a black short-sleeved kosode without the garment underneath, exposing part of his chest beneath the robe. His forearms are covered be a pair of long gloves that are cut to only cover the ring and middle fingers while exposing the rest. His waist is tied by two thick obi in red and black that interlace with each other, creating the image that he has a large tope tether wrapped around himself, beneath it rests a skirt of lamellar plates on either side of him that fan out downward into a set of more scale-like plates, these plates all loop around to cover his back as well. The front is covered by a gold and red ribbed decoration rested atop a dark fur pelt, a larger portion of the pelt hangs down from his back over the armour plates and lacking the assorted decoration. Beneath that is a hakama, the right leg of which is dark red, a sheet of black cloth hanging over it on the outer side. The left leg of the hakama is a brown-ish black which is instead tucked into Kogarashi's boot. The boots themselves are blackened steel embosed with golden ornamentation with pointed tips. A piece of red cloth wraps the top of his left boot.

History[]

Powers & Abilities[]

Natural Abilities

Enhanced Strength: (Under Construction)

Enhanced Durability: (Under Construction)

High Spiritual Power: All Spiritual beings, and Humans, have some degree of Reiryoku within themselves. When that degree is over a certain limit the possessor is granted all kinds of abilities of supernatural nature which are generally more powerful the higher that degree is. One thing available to all spiritual beings is the ability to emit Reiatsu (霊圧, Spiritual Pressure) and is how others most often quantify the power of others when compared to the pressure they can emit. Battles between spiritual beings are decided purely by the strength of ones spiritual power, with a large enough gap between them making one side practically invulnerable whilst the other would be easily wiped out by simple attacks, if not the side effects of spiritual pressure alone.

Shinigami Powers & Abilities

Zanpakutō

Hakuryū (白竜, White Dragon) is Kogarashi's Zanpakutō.

  • Shikai: Hakuryū takes the form of a giant Chinese halberd, its shaft is a deep blackened wood with a golden serpentine dragon coiling around its entire length, forming an impromptu handguard at the centre, where the weapon is typically held by its wielder. The bottom of the spear is covered by a golden cyllinder that leads into a ringed and stub-like pommel. The top is embosed with a golden head and a red-haired plume. The blade is formed into two faces in either direction, the edges of which are designed to evoke the image of a snakes tongue whilst the blade itself curves inward. The blades each have a set of repeating Chinese characters (战风变, Zhàn Fēng Biàn) written across the metal at three points. A pair of curved hollowed out points rest at the back of the attacking faces before pressing into the centre of the blade, above which rests a more traditional spear head, formed into a spike with two sharp prongs on either side. Hakuryū is a Constant Release-Type Zanpakutō and is therefore always in its Shikai form. This is typically a result of its wielder having a great deal of spiritual energy alongside an inability to actively control it, though this is not the case with Kogarashi. Kogarashi is not a natural Zanpakutō, at least in the literal sense. Though it shares all of the attributes of a standard Zanpakutō, its origin does not lie with Ōetsu Nimaiya. Instead it is the product of Kumomashōjun (昇順雲間, Ascending Order of the Rift Between Clouds), a Dragon that has entered into a partnership with Kogarashi. The being has "blended" with him in a sense, it resides in his Inner World though that Inner World has bled into the Dragon's own, fusing them together. A Zanpakutō typically gives off a spiritual presence, one that is nearly indistuingishable from its master, Hakuryū is unique in that it does not give off a presence at all, this is because Kumomashōjun's spiritual power is infinitely superior to all those around it, only becoming traceable if he lowers it and allows them to see it.
Shikai Special Ability: Hakuryū is a Melee-Type Zanpakutō and lacks any true form of special attack. Its wielder relies on it for both offense and defense, as it carries a great deal of cutting power and tactical versatility given its great size. Hakuryū has proven to be extremely durable, withstanding attacks from opponents that far outclass its master with nary a scratch on its form, it has also been seen to cut through opponents stronger than Kogarashi, as if it pays no heed to their greater level of spiritual power.

Trivia[]

  • Kogarashi (木枯し) is a seasonal word for the winter time that carries the meaning "Withering Wind", though it literally means "Tree-Witherer". Hashimoto (橋本) is a common Japanese surname which means "Base of [the] Bridge". Together, Kogarashi's name can be taken to mean "Withering Wind at the Base of the Bridge".
  • Kogarashi's character design takes inspiration from several characters, among them are the character that he had been based on from the above mentioned Edit Mode in the Dynasty Warriors series, as well as the "Prototype" design of Lancer from Fate/stay night. Lastly his design takes cues from Keiji Maeda as featured in the second incarnation of the Samurai Warriors franchise.
