Katsumi Otoharu (音春 佳罪 Otoharu Katsumi Literally meaning; Song of Spring, Beautiful Sin) is the current Captain of the Fourth Division in the Gotei 13. She is a beauty and was once an associate of several ancient shinigami who founded the Gotei 13. She is known for her astounding skills in Kidō and her vibrant combat style.

Shin'nodō (真の如何 Teachings of Truth) is the name of Katsumi's zanpakutō. When sealed, it bears the appearance of an ornate and beautiful katana, it is described as highly abstract and symbolic in its design. The katana itself is of standard length and color, but etched onto it are a number of pitch black, unique linear designs, while some are straight, others are curved and are spread across the blade very randomly. Its hilt is a magnificent golden, sparkling upon touching the sun's rays. Its guard is an identical color, while possessing a continual spiral design that also possesses black bars segmented throughout it. The katana's sheath is also heavily ornate, being an entirely black coloration with golden etchings situated at its base in the shape of a shield, and at its butt, in a draconic shape.
- Shikai: Released with the command, Tread upon the road in which your sins have been purged! Katsumi cuts through the air right in front of her in a horizontal line before she slashes upward diagonally and finally slashing downward to cause a large tremor in the ground beneath her as she exudes an immense amount of spiritual energy in a straight line in front of her, causing great damage to anything in its vicinity. As soon as this process has been completed, her katana changes into a long, segmented sword-whip similar to that of Renji Abarai's Zabimaru. However, unlike the former, hers is still notably compact as a blade. It is in the form of a golden jian with a large onyx crystal attached to the base of the sword. The sword has lines of a similar color which help to create distinction between every segment, while the spiritual thread used to connect the blade is a fine azure. Other captains remark on its appeal and the fluidity in which Katsumi wields the blade.
