The Kakure Quincy (隠れ 滅却師 (クインシー), Kakure Kuinshī; Japanese for "Hidden Monk of Destruction"), also referred to as simply Kakure (隠れ, "hidden"; Viz "Hidden Ones"), are those Quincy who found themselves in the Soul Society following their death in the war with the Gotei 13, and later became shinigami themselves so as to preserve their practice in safety. They combine traditional Quincy combat arts with those of the Shinigami, the former taking precedence in order to ensure their identity.
While Kakure Quincy seem to be aware of each others' true identities, they do not owe allegiance to the Wandenreich; many chose to flee Soul Society during the Quincy Blood War, being commonly accounted for as casualties of the final battle.
No Kakure has, according to ???, achieved the rank of either lieutenant or captain in their respective Divisions, also as part of their attempts to keep a low profile. Despite their low rank, however, some have attained such levels of power as Bankai and an equivalent of Quincy: Vollständig.
