Bakudō #98. Izaritoki (躄時, "Crawling Time") is a high-ranking Kidō spell from the branch of Bakudō; created by the Jishōka. A spell of high complexity, it is to date the only time-manipulating spell available as one of the Central 198.

Overview[]

Manipulating time has always been a terrifying affair, as spells of such power often have overarching side-effects that may threaten the stability of the worlds. However, its usefulness is extraordinary, especially to users of magic, who in comparison to most other combatants move agonizingly slowly.

Izaritoki was created to remedy that problem, and so it has. When the spell is completed, a large sphere of bluish shape; almost resembling a large bubble, manifests into being at a location of the spell casters choosing.

Within the confines of its sphere, Izaritoki slows down the progression of time; and anyone who enters its borders not only experience that their movements are sluggish and unresponsive, but also find that any outgoing techniques are likewise slowed down. A Shakkaho would seem to only move inch by inch while within the bubble; and only once it left its influence would it return to ordinary speed.

True masters of Kidō who have grown highly proficient in the use of Eishōhaki might be able to summon forth smaller bubbles to intercept quickly-moving techniques and attacks in this manner; and its indispensable for its ability to keep slower fighters alive and relevant.

Incantation[]

Hesitant I unravel the threads of fate; an arrow hangs still in the air, the edge who fails to reach its mark -- seven steps an eternity, twenty more are infinity, a pendulum, a watch and sundial; at these antiquities, hold thy breath!"
