Hirukoya (ヒル小屋, Hill Hovel) is the 71st district of Northern Rukongai, sporting a mere fifty to sixty souls.
Hirukoya Hill, Surrounding Landscape & Culture[]
The single large hill in Hirukoya also serves as the home for the residents, which sit on and around the hill, either at its top or on the slope. The homes are almost all shanties - improvised dwellings made from scrap materials, such as wood and, on rare occasion, metal like tin sheets. As a result the potential damage from Hollow attacks can be quiet serious, especially due to the districts small size.
In terms of landscape, Hirukoya is open to the elements and miles from the closest district. At the base of the hill on the north and south end is a dirt track used for travel, that pases over the hill and through the shanty settlement. There are occasional trees dotting the open plain between it and the closest district, which are mostly cut down so their wood can be salvaged for repairs and everyday use.
Perhaps due to its small size, both in living area and inhabitants, the souls residing in Hirukoya are a very close knit community who value their privacy above all else, and often go to great lengths to protect it. This attitude has also earned them a reputation for being stubborn and unhelpful: "few help us, so why should we help others?" is a recurring retort favored by the residents. Even in light of Hollow attacks, the people refuse to relocate or ask for help.
