Hibris (ヒブリス, Hiburisu; Spanish for "Pride") was a Vasto Lorde and the deputy commander of the Legión de la Oscuridad, serving under Tinieblas.
Appearance[]
Hibris is a very tall, yet extremely slender humanoid Hollow with bird-like traits, including wing-like membranes hanging from his hands and his mask resembling an ornate plume. His eyes are pitch black and featureless.
Personality[]
In accordance with his moniker, Hibris is a remarkably arrogant and conceited person. Whereas he respects Tinieblas as his superior and addresses her politely, he refuses to bellitle himself in the process[1].
Furthermore, he has a highly unfavourable opinion on the Shinigami; he compares Captain Kuragari to an "ant"[2], and considers himself a "superior being"[3].
Plot[]
Hibris, along with his six "siblings", has been personally chosen by Tinieblas as one of the candidates to become Vasto Lorde. He has been trained and nurtured together with the others, and eventually has achieved the pinnacle of natural Hollow evolution[4].
Appointed as the Deputy Commander of the Legión de la Oscuridad, he is responsible for the army's repeating attacks on the Seireitei.
Some time later, after Gotei 13 has decided to strike back, he approaches his superior and informs her about the situation[1]. Subsequently, he warns the other Vasto Lorde about the incoming intruders.
As a battle breaks out in the Hollow forces' headquarters, he remains nearby to Tinieblas's throne room until Captain Kuragari arrives. After exchanging some unfriendly introductions, the two proceed to fight[2].
Boasting about his alleged superiority, Hibris manages to deliver some heavy strikes to the Shinigami officer, but barely keeps up with him. Ultimately, Hibris's arrogance proves to be his downfall, as Kuragari exploits a short break in-between devastating blows to approach him in an instant and strike him with Sōkotsu. The Vasto Lorde's body disintegrates into nothingness[3].
Powers and Abilities[]

Pride: According to his own words, Hibris may "bend the reality to his will" and use it "as his weapon"[2]. Actually, his ability consists of manipulating Reishi to a variety of purposes, such as forming cushions of protective energy or grabbing elements of the environment and using them to attack[3]. Hierro: His coat of defensive Reiryoku is strong enough to resist a potent Bankai technique which has virtually erased his immediate surroundings upon strike. High-Speed Regeneration: Moreover, he is able to quickly recover from the same technique, despite the extent of damage it has dealt[3]. Sonído Expert: Additionally, Hibris is quite proficient in Sonído, as he is able to swiftly evade ambushes. Still, he cannot keep up with a Shunpo master in terms of speed[3]. | |
