Grand Fisher’s Lures (グランドフィッシャーの擬似餌, Gurando Fisshā no Gijie) are a collective entity comprised of the detached forms of Grand Fisher’s second body. The lures were originally created from the memories transcribed from Grand Fisher's victims. They sometimes refer to themselves as Quebrantes (破片 (ケブラーンテ), Keburānte; Spanish for "Break", Japanese for "Fragment/Shattered Piece"). While their true purpose remains unclear, as "soulless memories" they seem to attract and are drawn towards souls without memories (such as a Blanks). They also bear an intense hatred towards Ichigo Kurosaki, and to that end have recently appeared in Karakura Town in search of revenge.
History[]
When Grand Fisher was gravely wounded by Ichigo Kurosaki during their battle, he switched into his lure (in the form of Masaki Kurosaki), which functioned as his second body to escape.[1][2] He fled to Hueco Mundo where Aisslinger Wernarr healed him and helped him to transform into an imperfect Arrancar.[3][2] During this process, Grand Fisher shed his lures to attain greater power, similar to how most Arrancar cast aside their regenerative abilities to achieve more strength.[4] Because the lures, which were nothing more than the forms of detached memories, shared a common origin and consciousness, they grouped together to form a single entity. It would later be revealed long after Grand Fisher's own death that the lures had also retained some of his Hollow abilities, such as Transcribe.
Forms[]
- Kuroko
- Ajiro
- Chō
- Masaki
- Fujio
Powers & Abilities[]
Undetectable Spiritual Presence: Because the lures are "forms" created by memories, they do not emit Reiatsu. As such, their presence cannot be detected through normal means, allowing them to ambush even the most perspicacious opponent. Furthermore, since they do not possess Hollow masks or holes, they cannot be cleansed and are impervious to Konsō. They are also unaffected by most reiryoku-based attacks, such as Kidō and Zanpakutō techniques. However, they seem to be vulnerable to Quincy abilities and Fullbring.
- Power Sharing and Distribution: As the lures are a collective entity, they share their knowledge and powers across their individual forms. Since the lures mentally communicate with each other, when one form learns new information, it can be shared simultaneously with the others. If one form is injured, the others can absorb the damage and lessen its impact by distributing it evenly amongst themselves. However, whenever a new lure is created, the strength of each individual form lessens. In the case of survival they can also cast-aside one of their forms if it is too critically wounded. When a lure is detached from the others it dies and can never be regained.
Migration (移胴 (ミグレイション), Migureishon; Japanese for Shift Torso)[2]: This was one of Grand Fisher's original techniques, which allows the lures to shape-shift into each others' forms, which they use to create their merged form. They also use Migration to hide their forms, which gives them the ability to display only one lure at a time.
- Merged Form: Similar to how the Tres Bestias can combine their left arms to create a chimeric Hollow, the lures can use Migration to merge into a single form. The merged form is much closer to how Grand Fisher appeared originally as a Hollow, and an element of each individual lure can be clearly seen in their combined version. While in their merged form, the lures' power and fighting capacity drastically increases, to the point where they can rival a captain-class Shinigami. Most notably, by utilizing their enhanced Transcribe ability, they can tap into a target's memories to create new lures. Because the lures unleash their collective power in a "returned" state, their merged form has been compared to an Arrancar's Resurrección.
Transcribe (脳写 (トランスクライブ), Toransukuraibu; Japanese for Brain Projection)[2]: By piercing an opponent with their fingers, claws, or tentacles, the forms can peer into their memories to psychologically manipulate their adversary during a battle. When in their merged form, they can use Ajiro's meuchi awl to pierce an opponent's body and transcribe their memories to create new lures. Transcribe can also be used to destroy memories.
Valley of Screams Manipulation: Souls who lack memories, such as souls who become lost during the transmigration cycle, are instinctively attracted to the lures. While the lures cannot exert conscious control over the memory-less souls, they can use the principle of attraction between them to create vacuums. Unlike the Blanks, the souls within Valleys of Screams that are drawn out by the void of the lures' memories are known as "Screams" (叫 (スクリームズ), Sukurīmuzu). They appear to be formless, intangible currents of "anti-reiryoku" that, should they pass through a spiritual entity, will quickly destroy their spirit energy. The lures only seem capable of drawing out Screams while in their merged form.
- Descorrer: Entrada Quebrada (解空破片 (デスコレール・エントラダケブラーダ), Desukorēru Entorada Keburāda; Spanish for "Drawing Back/Opening", Japanese for "Loosed Void Fragment"): While the lures are incapable of opening a normal Garganta, they can use the attraction between them and the Valley of Screams to open portals in places where residual memories (which are attached to the souls of all objects)[5] are thin or nonexistent. From there, they can access various dimensions, including Hueco Mundo and the Human World.
- Cero Inverso (反虚閃 (セロ・インバーソ), Sero Inbāso; Spanish for "Inverse Zero", Japanese for "Anti-Hollow Flash") Instead of opening a full portal, the lures can form small, dark orbs of "empty space." These small openings to the Valley of Screams create voids that draw in and destroy all spirit energy in their path, similar in concept to a reverse Cero.
Trivia[]
- As an entity formed of individual memories cast off from a single Arrancar, the lures are similar to the Pícaro.
