Character Overview

Synopsis

Powers & Abilities

High Spiritual Power: Giryū has a rather high amount of spiritual power, much more than an average seated officer, possibly putting him in the same league as a Third Seat. However, he doesn't possess perfect control of it yet. The color of his spiritual energy is bright yellow.

Zanpakutō

Chishishō (カイ司書, Earth's Master) is the name of Giryū Kōda's Zanpakutō. When sealed, its appearance is like that of a standard katana with a black hilt, and a crossguard.

  • Shikai: It is released by the command "Surface" (面, hyōmen). It takes on the appearance of a single shuang gou, the color scheme remaining the same as its sealed state.
Shikai Special Ability: While it is generally used for melee combat, Chishishō possesses several abilities that revolve around the manipulation of the earth element.
  • Iwajin'oku (岩人屋, Rock Prison): Chishishō causes an earthquake to form underneath Giryū, which extends outwards. Any high source of foreign spiritual energy that is within the range of this earthquake is suddenly enveloped by the ground beneath them, trapping them in a giant tome of rocks. The ironic thing about this technique is that the stronger the opponent trapped, the stronger the hold on them is, making it more difficult for them to escape.
Ohoyama

Ohoyama

  • Ohoyama (大山積命, "God who rules the Mountains"): The proclaimed strongest technique that Chishishō can preform in Shikai, this technique literally causes Giryū's spiritual energy to spread outwards. Any fragment of earth that is influenced by his spiritual pressure is raised up into the sky. As this occurs, the earth fragments begin to increase in size, rising up into the sky as they all combine into a giant oblate spheroid. When used in conjuction with Iwajin'oku, opponents can be risen up into the giant structure, and crushed into the massive fragments of earth. However, when Ohoyama is used on its own, it can be directed by Giryū to fall downwards toward an opponent, which is capable of massive damage. The structure itself glows with Giryū's bright yellow spiritual energy.
