Gekkō Kirameki (月光きらめき, "Moonlight Shimmer") is a Shinigami primarily affiliated with the magical branch of the Soul Society, the Kidō Corps. While unbeknownst to the vast majority of the Seireitei, Gekkō is in fact the sole survivor of his clan's massacre at the hands of the Central 46, due to said clan's connection with Hell. Now, he searches to not only retrieve his family's Shinken from the Central 46, but also find out how the knowledge of a clan once shrouded in secrecy was betrayed to them in the first place.
Personality[]
Gekkō is a calm, self-assured, and observant individual. Even when on a mission or in the heat of battle, Gekkō appears to have nerves of steel. He is very matter-of-fact, to the point, and somewhat cold-blooded. Raised to be Clan Head, he carries himself accordingly. Gekkō always exudes a sense of calm and collected intensity that many find intimidating, if not off-putting. Despite the Shinigami's stiff demeanor, those not bothered by it find him to be anything but emotionless. As a matter of fact, he is a highly skilled leader, his cool-headed nature allowing him to lead a group of battle-oriented mages.
Moreover, he is capable of balancing what is fair and what is for the betterment of the Yorutai with the needs/wants of his subordinates. It is important not to mistake Gekkō's calm peacemaking for weakness, as he is anything but weak. He is exceptionally determined and never backs down from anyone when he believes he is in the right. However, his willpower can be so narrow-minded that he misses out on the bigger picture as he treads the line of pure bullheadedness. Gekkō is also extremely sentimental about his past, securing each bit of memorabilia under lock and key. This sentiment serves as the foundation of his hunt for the Shinken, as he treasures these last memories of his family above all else.
The attack on his family and his inability to save his mother created a devastating fear in Gekkō. His cold and standoffish attitude directly results from his fear of losing someone he loves again. Gekkō can exert more control over his life by keeping people at arm's length since he is the only one who has to worry about himself. There is, of course, one exception. Therefore, Gekkō avoids getting too close to anyone, not wanting to create the possibility of losing someone else. In addition, he is instead controlling when it comes to his past. Going past cherishing it to not being able to move past it. As a result, any mission he participates in is only about information relating to his Clan, and he is always alone during these missions. He has gained a reputation for following his interests, so some members think he is self-centered despite his leadership skills. His obsession with control is evident through his pursuit of strength. Even though Tencho has tempered his obsession with power, it remains a primary motivation for his actions. In Gekkō's mind, power is the currency of control, and as long as he is powerful, he will remain in control.
It is important to note that Gekkō's motivation is primarily based on one thing: he is determined to regain the Shinken that was stolen from his Clan during the massacre. He is determined to put the heirloom back in its rightful place. Undoubtedly, it is the greatest remnant of what he lost.

Vast Spiritual Power: Gekkō possesses extraordinary amounts of reiryoku that far exceeds the level of a Captain-class Shinigami. His spiritual power is vast enough to match Zetsubō, the primary enforcer of The Archon, and a Royal Guard-caliber combatant. [1] As expected of the Master of the Yorutai, a subdivision of the Kidō Corp that specializes in combat, Gekkō possesses peerless control over his spiritual power. He wastes no energy and is fully capable of molding it into any shape he desires. Naturally, hiding his presence through suppressing his reiatsu is child's play. He could even subdue his subordinate, a Shinigami wielding power comparable to a Captain, with only an expression of his spiritual pressure. His reiatsu is golden in color and lacks any specific nature due to his lack of a zanpakutō.
