Ewan Dineen (イワン ディニーン, Iwan Dinīn) is a human and Fullbringer from Wales who is currently active in Ikeda. Formerly a Wizard of Wing Bind's Patchworks division, he defected from the organisation when his experiments on Dragons were uncovered. He is currently being hunted by the Gallows.

Appearance

Ewan is a somewhat tall individual of British descent. He has a pale, almost clear complexion. He has very long blonde hair, reaching partways down his back. Contrary to his stated care and devotion for it, his hair is largely unkempt, though clearly brushed. He keeps it tied in a simple ponytail with a black satin tie, and he has a clasp nestled into his right side. He has an almost snake-like look to him with sharp angular eyes and unusual pupils that are green on the outside but fade to yellow as they get to the center. He has long, thin eyebrows and his lips are often drawn into a wide, if cold, smile. He wears a simple white sweater with a low cut collar and typical wool patterns down its length. Over it he wears a thin black coat, with an orange ribbon and emblem on the breast. Beneath he wears a pair of simple black slacks that tuck into brown boots with tubular cuffs and a red trim.

Bleach: Call of the Fullbringer

With Fiona Archer's beacon calling Xodus back from their variety of battles in the Seireitei, they each arrive at the Senkaimon courtyard. Eva Kelly warns that the Gotei 13 will have been alerted by the beacon, only for Ewan to interject that their extraction has already been taken care of, as his Fullbring, Pride in Every Thread is shown to have wrenched open one of the Senkaimon. After a short moment of bickering, the group and their two charges leap through the Senkaimon, the shimmer of Bringer Light all around them. The group exit from the Senkaimon on the outskirts of Karakura Town, reveling in their success. Ewan for his part remarks that the Shinigami were useless before his superior martial quality only for Eva to roll her eyes at him. After seeing the two young Fullbringers off, Xodus goes their own way. Two weeks after the battle in Soul Society, Masato Fujiwara and Kumiko Fujimoto find themselves in the Shiro apartment complex, on the trail of the members of Xodus, seeking their help for Masato's Fullbring. As they emerge on the top floor of the building onto a terrace, they are met by Ewan, emerging from his room. He remarks upon the uninvited guests, in English, prompting the two to retort that they don't understand the language. Ewan derides the pair in their own language, before keying in that they are likely looking for Arthur Callaghan. He points out that he can be found in the room at the end of the terrace, before insulting them further. Ewan later intervenes in Masato and Kumiko's fight with Maeve O'Bannon, emerging from a shadowy view into the light of the moon as his hairs strike the two young Fullbringers in numerous points, immediately paralysing them. He mocks Maeve for apparently struggling with the two, though she ignores him. As he follows her back into the apartments, he expresses distaste that they're wasting their time as he believes neither of the two will amount to anything.

Equipment

Pipe: While it originally shared the conventional design of other Pipes, after Ewan escaped Reverse London he had it deeply modified. In its current form, Ewan's gun is a perfect masquerade of the New Nambu M60, the mainstay firearm of Japanese law enforcement agencies. It is a double-action style revolver that is typically chambered with .38 Special ammunition. Ewan keeps the gun unloaded, though the gun can be used in its natural form if desired. By holding the gun upside down, and tapping the bottom of the grip, Ewan is able to use it to perform Magic, and, together with the spell Rainy Wheel, he puts forward the façade that this is his Fullbring, "Gunhead" (ガンヘッド, Ganheddo).

Natural Abilities

Expert Marksman: Spiritual Awareness: Like all Fullbringers, Ewan has enough spiritual power to be able to perceive spiritual beings such as Shinigami and Hollows. High Spiritual Power: Ewan possesses a great deal of spiritual energy for a human. So much so as to be comparable to a Shinigami Lieutenant. He has enough knowledge and control to keep his energy suppressed from others, allowing him to use his preferred stealthy approach to combat. When expressed, his spiritual power is bright blue. As a Fullbringer, those that can feel his Reiatsu can sense that it feels like a Hollow.

Magical Abilities

Magic Expert: Before he was transferred to Patchworks, Ewan was a member of the Inks, the foremost experts on Magic within Wing Bind and it was from there he picked up a great deal of skill in the art. As one would expect, he is able to use the basic spell Shield with particular deftness, and can use spells such as Magic #75. Gatling Claw without its incantation. He is skilled enough to use Magic #28. Rainy Wheel rapidly and consecutively, without missing a beat between casts, so much so that he can pretend the spell, and his associated Pipe are his Fullbring, to those not in the know. As a former member of Inks, it is implied he knows how to use their Release Code spells, in addition to intimating his familiarity with the use of Absolute Dragon Shatter. Through a combination of magic and his Fullbring, he conceals his base of operations under a seemingly permanent veil of Cloth.

Fullbring

Pride in Every Thread (プライド・イーン・エブリ・スレッド), Puraido īn Eburi Sureddo) is a foci comprised of all of Ewan's hair. Naturally acting as a symbol of his vanity and pride in his physical appearance, it is thus the part of him with the greatest affinity with Ewan and by focusing on that selfish pride, he can transform his hair through Fullbring. There is no visual indication of its activation, and his hair does not undergo any immediate change when active, as such Ewan considers it the ultimate Fullbring, as it allows him to use it in deceptive ways to strike his enemies while they are still unaware. It is an Enhancement-type Fullbring. Hair Manipulation: Ewan's Fullbring possesses the power to alter the properties of every strand of hair on his head to suit his needs, with the only limitation being that he can only manipulate the hair of his scalp and nowhere else. He also expresses that, while he can cause his hair to grow or recede at will, he cannot produce new hairs on command, not that this is much of a problem as he ascertains that he has an average of 150,000 strands of hair to work with at any given time. Even without any modification hair is capable of cutting and piercing flesh with incredible ease, allowing Ewan to do serious harm to human opponents with just the minimum amount of effort on his part. He can control his hair down to individual strands, moving them around in a manner akin to snakes. He is incredibly deft at doing so, not only able to simply strike with them, but have his hair slither through and around surfaces in order to strike his opponents from unconventional angles, intentionally using very few threads of hair so as to make them difficult to discern. By modifying the strength of his hair, Ewan is able to not only pierce the flesh of humans, but Hollows and other spiritual beings as well. He can even puncture through things like steel and stone. Befitting his nature, Ewan does not aim to simply stab his victims to death with his hair, but rather, make use of grim manipulations to control them. By puncturing the flesh and reaching the bones of his enemies, he can wrap his hair around them and wrest control of their bodies away, allowing Ewan to treat people as puppets. By hitting the nerves in just the right way, he can paralyze parts of his victims' bodies, similar to acupuncture. Not solely for offense, of course, his entanglement of hair can be used to protect him by acting as a cushion to dampen attacks, and by flowing his Reiryoku through them, he can make his hair strong enough to shrug off attempts to cut or burn them. He has even shown the capacity to forcibly wrench open the Senkaimon. With But A Single Thread (ウイス・ブト・エイ・シングル・スレッド, Uisu Buto Ei Shinguru Sureddo): Ewan plucks a single strand from his fringe, and infuses it with his Reiryoku. This hair stands on end, resembling a needle, and radiates with his spiritual energy. By embedding the hair into the back of a target's neck, it is able to burrow underneath the flesh where it climbs into the victim's head. By spreading his Reiryoku from his hair into his target's brain he is able to "pollute" their mind with his power, and thus gain a deep, perverted level of control over his opponents. Through this power, Ewan seeks to gather a "collection" under his control, with his ultimate aim being to use it to tame one of the Märchen. Energy Permanence: By tracing constructs of spiritual energy with a hair, Ewan is able to allow things such as Magic and Kidō to remain active in a specific location, seemingly permanently. By tracing the perimeter of his workshop with hairs, across the boundaries of a Cloth spell, he has been able to keep it perpetually obscured from sight, all without having to recast the spell. This state remains true, even when his Fullbring is inactive, though, as with all Fullbring powers, it will stop working should he die.

Dragons

Ed (エド, Edo) & Shaun (ショーン, Shōn): A pair of Planty Potties that Ewan adopted before fleeing Reverse London. Ed is shaped like a stout, wide pot of a simple, predominantly grey colour, with a pair of black, webbed bat-like wings and stubby feet. It has round eyes, and two short insets imitating nostrils, its mouth almost always exposes its teeth, with two prominent upward facing fangs. His pot is host to a growth of gibōshi, giving him a verdant top. Shaun is possessed of a taller, thinner plant pot which is orange at the top and fades into white at the bottom. He has orange webbed wings and beady eyes as well as a beak for a mouth. He has four legs, brown and reminiscent of twigs. His pot contains a small branch of hinodegiri. Precocious and curious little Dragons, the pair are like to get into mischief whenever Ewan takes his eyes off them, in particular, Shaun has a penchant for finding, and cover itself in, red paint.

Brother Grimm (ブラザー・グリム, Burazā Gurimu): A large Dark Dragon, barely able to fit in the room Ewan keeps it within. It has black skin with white extremities. It possesses a griffon-like appearance with a typical quadrupedal body shape. Its feet are each marked by four digits with large raptor-like talons. It has a large, long tail that terminates into a short fluffy plume, it can twist this tail and transform it into a spear reminiscent of a drill. Along the upper portion of its body stretch six wings, three on either side of it, with the upper and lower wings being tattered and damaged while the middle pair are filled with white webbing. It has two long necks stretching from the front of its body, the lower terminates into a head with no eyes or nose and a long beak. The higher neck ends on a long muzzle backed by a mane of feathers, each a different colour from one another. Two eyes rest on either flank, each pink with slitted pupils. Much of the front and lower portion of the muzzle is covered in a discordant series of holes, through which a very long tongue may emerge. Though Dark Dragons are immediately hostile to humans, Brother Grimm appears largely docile, and clearly obeys the commands of its apparent "master", Ewan. With its wings it is able to fly, and its strength is equal if not greater than the average Hollow seen in Ikeda. Its lower mouth is able to unleash gouts of flame on command, and when the tongue of the other head touches this fire, it becomes a frozen breath.

• Ewan is a name of Irish and Gaelic origin meaning "born of the yew", it is derived from the Irish name Éoġan.
• Ewan uses "Shiraishi Kageyuki" from the visual novel CollarxMalice as a face claim.
• "Pride in every thread" is a common phrase in knitting to express the care people take in the projects they make.
• Ed and Shaun are references to the principle characters of Shaun of the Dead. Brother Grimm is likewise named after the Brothers Grimm, the authors behind many of the fairytales that the Märchen are named after.
