"If I'm not mistaken, then it appears he also absorbs some measure of the victim's skills."
—Gundinger identifies Averian's ability to steal a victim's techniques.[src]
Emisión (放光 (ほうこう), Spanish for "Emission of Light") is a technique born of Averian's tweaking of an existing Quincy technique, gained through his Devourer of Souls (霊食い, Reikui; Literally meaning "Soul-Food") ability.
Judah Eli primarily used his Quincy abilities to create various techniques using light. On his death, Averian absorbed a small measure of this ability which, combined with various other Quincy traits absorbed from Judah's squad, led to the creation of Emisión.[1]Emisión produced a blinding flash of light, the goal of which was to disorientate one's opposition, especially when heavily outnumbered.[2] Averian commonly employed immediately before escaping an area.[3]
This ability arose through conversation with Brave on Discord. In an effort to give Hikari Raiotto a personal stake in the fight against Averian, it was agreed that one of the Quincy that Averian killed in 2019 mere days before his appearance in Hunger and Greed: Predation, would be Judah Eli, who was Hikari's father. His primary ability was various light-related techniques. Thus, when he died at Averian's hands, the Arrancar gained an ability that Hikari would recognize as belonging to his father.
