The Dragonforce (ドラゴン, Doragon) is an organization conceived by Kentaro and Karis, founded by Kenji, and led by Tyrell Nishiki, which was set up prior to the Invasion of Kōhai Tochi to deal with Shūhen Kōhai. The group serves as a branch of the Ryū Order and is responsible for dealings with the emerging realm of Heisekai. Situated on the Dragon's Spit near the main islands of Heisekai, the Dragonforce enjoy a close tie with the Jōren, and a lesser relationship with the Shuuten.

Overview

The Dragonforce is the brain-child of Kenji, Kentaro and Karis. All three saw it prudent that the Ryū Order had a permanent power-base in Heisekai to monitor both Shūhen's activities from and Heisekai's following the Invasion of Kōhai Tochi carried out by the Shuuten, though the latter would be done secretly. Tyrell was chosen as the Head-Captain specifically by Kenji because, like him, Tyrell was as much a symbol for the Order as Kenji was, with the passion to match, power and respect needed. He was also a proven leader with qualities rivaling Yoshiro's own and a firm, yet understanding hand with the men and woman under his command as he had proven since he joined the order. Kazuma, Tyrell's youngest sibling, alongside his sister, Karis, where drafted because all three, as siblings, worked remarkably well together and knew how the other operated. Their mission was simple: build upon past meetings with the Shuuten and help put down Shūhen's rebellion before he could complete his plan to overthrow Heisekai's Queen.

Like the Ryū Order proper, the Dragonforce is headed by a single individual -- Tyrell, who acts as its Head-Captain; a position wielding the same authority as the Head-Captain of the Ryū Order. Two Captains aid him -- Karis and Kazuma -- with other individuals running day-to-day matters. The force is roughly five-hundred strong and completely self-sufficient. Whatever they need they make. Whatever food they have they either catch from the Human World or take from the seas surrounding Heisekai. Only rarely do they ever ask for supplies from Horiwari. In addition to the above structure, Tyrell has recently added another rank: Shadow Captain (影隊長, Kagetaichō). This position is filled by former Royal Guard Captain, Ryōta Hachirō.

Behind the Scenes

• The group shares its name with a power metal band called Dragonforce, which the author is a big fan of. This name was also chosen to stay in-line with the dragon theme.
