Daisuke Shiraji (白地大輔, Shiraji Daisuke) is the current Kidō Corps Commander and Grand Kidō Chief of Soul Society. A hundred years ago he was the Third Seat of the Kidō Corps under Tessai Tsukabishi and Hachigen Ushōda. He is often called Dai-chan ( だいちゃん) which is the first Kanji to his name followed by a rather childish honorific by his livelong friend and partner Nami Kobayashi, he dislikes this however especially since she does it in front of other subordinates and he thinks this is highly inappropriate. He bears the unofficial tittle of Kidōshū no Sen'nin (鬼道衆の仙人, Sage of the Kidō Corps) as according to some he could be considered a wizard of the Demon Arts and he secretly takes pride of this title. Daisuke is regarded as the first Captain of the Kidō Corps to fight for the right of this organization to take part in the doings of the Gotei 13 and has been present in every single captain meeting after the defeat of Yhwach posterior to a tense argument with the Central 46 during which he received support from the current Captain Commander Shunsui Kyōraku. His Lieutenant is Nami Kobayashi.

Appearance[]

Daisuke is a tall and slender looking man, with long, black hair tied to a ponytail and bangs falling down both sides of his thin face, his eyes are a light purple and often bare a bored unamused look. Daisuke also has tattooed the Kanji for empty and thought on his left and right inner wrists respectively, together they read Musō (無想, Thoughtless) which he covers with white bandages. He wears a sleeveless version of the traditional Kidō Corps Captain Haori on top of his normal Shinigami Shihakushō; it bears the emblem of the division knitted in golden threads and doesn't have the large upturned collar like the previous Commander wore.

During fights where his clothes have been considerably torn apart Daisuke has shown a very muscular and athletic upper body. This is the result of years of intense training with the most proficient Hakuda and Kendō master of West Rukongai. He has stated that physical strength is just as important as Reiryoku when casting powerful Kidō spells, and for the most part this is true, especially for those who specialize in destructive spells like him which pack considerable recoil and stress to their casters. His physical attributes reflect on the potency and vigor of his incantations delivering them with an extra punch that most people do not expect at first glance.

During his time outside the Seireitei Daisuke wondered the Soul Society wearing simple white yukata and walked around wearing no sandals. He was known by those who met him as the man in the white gown (白衣の男, Hakui no Otoko) because of his appearance which was ragged and less than striking which made him look like an ordinary soul from Rukongai even in the lower end of the distrcict set of casts which allowed him to keep a low profile all those years, few knowing his true identity.

Previous to leaving the Kidō Corps Daisuke used to wear the attire consistent with the organization's secretive nature which consisted of white face coverings, enveloping the entire head, excluding the eyes along with black garments and sandals with white tabi. He wore black gloves unique to him. Daisuke's hair back then was considerably shorter than his current length, he decided to let it grow after leaving the Gotei.

Personality[]

Daisuke is often a stern looking young man and level-headed who enjoys peace and doesn't like games. Most of the time he follows rules to their very core but is known to have chosen otherwise for the benefit of others especially his friends. He is very dedicated to his job and likes to know everything that goes around his division keeping meticulous attention to detail and having all the paperwork related to his division done on time as he hates slacking. Even though it rarely happens Daisuke is known to lose his temper on certain situations, this is when his other side tends to surface.

Despite all of this Daisuke's most heart-set conviction is to protect the Seireitei, his first home and where he came to know his real friends, no matter what. He loathes anyone or anything who threatens to destroy the peace in Seireitei and proved this when he came back in time for the the second Quincy invasion to the Soul Society and rampaged against those who got close to harming his fellow Shinigami friends dispatching of more than three dozen Soldats in the process. Some of his friends from the Kidō Corps who recognized him after a hundred years confessed that they had never seen him like this before and hoped this side of him would never surface again. He considers the Kidō Corps his true home and the people within it his true family and has and will do anything to protect them from harm. Sometimes he can be a little overprotective and make people uncomfortable, but this is also the part of him his friends love the most.

Despite his almost monk-like pacifist lifestyle he can be somewhat aggressive and destructive if and when given the opportunity. People think it unlikely because he is always very stable-looking but Daisuke suffers from a type of bipolar disorder where his maniac phase is triggered by the sight of blood and turns him into a violent person, he avoids too much fighting because of this same reason, his only advantage is that he is aware of his condition and avoids confrontations for "the sake of peace". Daisuke can turn into an explosive man who likes to use strong attacks and destroy the enemy violently. When this happens he seems to disregard the lives of those around him, friend or foe, and doesn't hold back if anyone gets in the middle of his fights. One of the few people to know this side of him is his Lieutenant Nami Kobayashi and more often than not advises him to not engage in fighting for the good of other people. But when he does walk into the battleground Nami has proven to be effective on calming him down and cool off his blood, he has also shown that through embracing his violent side he can willingly bring himself back to normal although it takes him longer than when Nami intervenes.

He seems to have gained more control over his maniac phase to the point where blood no longer triggers it, or at least not blood from just anyone. If someone he knows or he himself gets injured and spills a considerable amount of blood then he will go into a rampage that will begin with irregular breathing and heartbeat. This is also triggered by strong cocky enemies that are difficult to take down causing his mental guards weaken out of tiredness. Although he sometimes tries to get himself under control it is not always effective and will eventually become aggressive. He is known to laugh like a maniac and use strong language that he would normally not resort to. Before Daisuke's maniac side seemed to be stronger than his normal one and would take over fairly easy but with time and training, mostly by accepting he has a problem and become whole, this has changed.

Daisuke is known to have a kind heart, especially when nobody is looking mostly because he can get easily embarrassed. Sometimes he's been known to disappear from his captain chambers to go wonder through the rough areas of the Rukongai and help those in need with charity work. He usually gifts them with food and clothing and spends hours on end chatting with all of those who would join him. Sometimes if he comes across souls with strong Reiryoku he recruits them and takes them to the Seireitei to begin their training as Shinigami thus giving them a better lifestyle. Those whom he cannot recruit are always under his protective wing and has even gone to the extreme of letting thugs and criminals know that he will come after them should harm fall upon those whom he cares for.

Humble as he is Daisuke holds the idea that his area of expertise, Kidō, is higher than the other Shinigami arts, although he does recognize that at their highest peak each of the Zankensoki are quite scary and dangerous putting Yoruichi Shihōin and Kenpachi Zaraki as examples on their own field. Holding Kidō in high regard he's stated that while you can only learn so much in the other arts a master in Kidō can push the boundaries further than others and that there is always a useful spell to know. Because of his views Mayuri Kurotsuchi once told Daisuke that technology would one day replace Kidō in all areas, this drove Daisuke to the edge and even threatened the Captain of the Twelfth Division to show him that the Demon Arts were capable of and that with a single spell he could disable his technology in an instant; this small back and forth created added even more salt to the wound that already existed between these two geniuses of Seireitei.

As the newly appointed Grand Kidō Chief Daisuke's ultimate goal is to have his division recognized by the Gotei 13 and the Central 46 as an actual part of Seireitei's military force, which it hadn't in the past thousand years. He motivated the members of the Kidō Corps to interact with other soldiers from other Divisions, to not be confined to tasks within the Soul Society and to have them go to real missions in the Human World as support for other Shinigami combatants, which in turn was even recognized by the Central 46 as a good idea. They served as medical relief and the soldiers even started reporting less structural damage to buildings which previously consumed too many labor hours to repair. Most of the support he's received for this has come from the Captain Commander himself who seems to like Daisuke's new innovating ideas that have not been suggested ever before in the history of the Gotei 13.

Daisuke is held in high regards by his comrades and subordinates because of all the things he has managed to accomplish in such a short time of holding his position and the surging of the Kidō Corps from the shadows cast by the other thirteen divisions. This has evolved a friendly atmosphere within the division which was previously loom and shady, mirroring the internal shame of each member for not being considered part of the Gotei. Now, instead of underground bases, the Kidō Corps have their own building behind the First Division even though some underground areas have been kept for the sake of secrecy, something this organization will probably never lack.

He is driven by both altruism and a sense of justice that sometimes collide and put Daisuke between difficult spots. He often chooses what is right for the sake of his friends but still considers the consequences his actions will have on him, his friends, and even the whole division as all his hard work to promote the Kidō Corps could come crumbling down with just one mistake.

Daisuke likes to take walks around the Seireitei at dusk, his favorite time of the day, and can often be found at Sōkyoku Hill staring at the sunset. He likes cold milk and hates the smell of cucumber.

Relationships[]

  • Tessai Tsukabishi: By the time Daisuke joins the Kidō Corps he could have been considered an late adolescent boy. He had all the attributes to define a good Shinigami, even an excellent one. He was smart, dedicated, loyal, and powerful but Daisuke grew up never really having a fatherly figure, and his mother had died when he was still a kid. There was an emptiness on his heart only this new place could fill. The Kidō Corps, and by extension Tessai and Hachigen, were the closest Daisuke ever had to a family and a real home. Tessai considered Daisuke was a genius boy but a lonely one nonetheless and tried to incorporate him into the organization in a way that he'd feel welcomed. This worked successfully and Daisuke immediately felt like he had a place he belonged to. The day Daisuke discovered his "Sensei", as he would call Tessai, had been exiled under mysterious circumstances he didn't hesitate to think someone had been behind this. There was no room in Daisuke's heart to doubt his teacher, and the resulting confusion made him drop his position and leave the Gotei, a decision he would've never consider.
  • Hachigen Ushōda: When Daisuke joined the corps Hachigen felt like he had finally met someone who was as passionate about the art as he was and decided to teach the young recruit everything he knew. On Daisuke's first day on the division Hachi showed the young boy around the living facilities and offered him help should he need it. Daisuke soon grew found of the young Vice-Kidō Chief with whom he would spend a lot of time, most of it practicing and creating new spells. Daisuke and Hachigen were reunited a hundred and two years later on the onset of the Quincy war against Soul Society.
  • Nami Kobayashi: Nami and Daisuke have always been on a first name term since he joined the Kidō Corps, she even has a pet name for him which she uses at inappropriate times. As of now they have a very close friendship even though she is now his Lieutenant. Nami is one of the few people who know of and understand Daisuke's bipolar disorder and is able to keep him under control most of the times.
  • Shunsui Kyōraku: After coming back from his self-imposed exile and at the end of the Quincy war Daisuke sat down with Shunsui and asked for his help in order to convince the members of the Central 46 chamber to allow the Kidō Corps to become involved with the Gotei 13 instead of being a completely separate organization. Shunsui liked Daisuke's new ideas and thought that it would be good for a change. The relationship between the two men goes further than that of just business and they sometimes meet to have some drinks, Daisuke will drink tea as he doesn't like sake like Shunsui.

History[]

Raiden was born some nine hundred years ago shortly after the first Quincy war to a crumbled and devastated Soul Society; his mother was a Shinigami woman member of the First Division who died shortly after he was born and he doesn't remember her. There was never any mention about a father or if he was even part of the Gotei 13 to begin with. He grew up in the first division hearing stories about the awful Quincy who almost brought the Soul Society to an end and of an unnamed man who was the most evil of them. Even though he never experienced the war on flesh and bone a dislike towards the Quincy started growing inside him but at the same time he knew their end had been brought about by the defeat of their king, this alone brought him some peace of mind.

Joining the Shin'o Academy some fifty years later marked the beginning of a time for Daisuke to grow recognized as one of the smartest students this institution had the pleasure to take in. He graduated a year and a half later with many friends and teachers admiring his talents as a Shinigami.

His Kidō prowess secured Daisuke an immediate seat in the Kidō Corps under Tessai Tsukabishi and Hachigen Ushōda as the Third Seat of the division. On the first day he was shown the living quarters by Hachigen who became his first friend there and soon his teacher. After seeing what he was capable of he told Daisuke there wasn't more for him to teach the young recruit, this made Daisuke very happy with himself and started studying and training harder to hone his skills and strengthen his Reiatsu. He learned more advanced Kidō techniques and read every book or ancient scroll he could get his hands on, some of them forbidden, this gave him an insight to the art that no other member of the division possessed, except for it's two leaders. He kept this position for about eight hundred years.

Some hundred and twenty years ago Daisuke was still on his position as Third Seat and was happy to be there never considering to take on any other post as there were many specialized sub-corps within the Kidō Corps itself. At this time he was already a Kidō master and adept on most branches of this art on pair with, some say even rivaling, his division partner Hachigen Ushōda. At this time he decided to become more in touch with his Zanpakutō; this, however, proved to be a difficult task. Daisuke's Zanpakutō spirit turned out to be a very stubborn one arguing that he wasn't about to let him in after hundreds of years of neglect. Being a smart man Daisuke realized his mistake and sought forgiveness from the Zanpakutō who did not yield to the requests continuously rejecting the young man's effort to reach him.

Years of work proved to be futile as the spirit within Daisuke kept telling him to rely on his Kidō abilities since if he had seen no need for a Zanpakutō so far then surely he'd never need one. This hurt Daisuke who kept trying to reach the unreachable every time feeling more hopeless. To add to his already heavy heart one day Daisuke discovered his lifelong teachers had vanished under suspicious circumstances never to return. He later came to know that his captain had been sentenced to life imprisonment for using forbidden techniques and orders had been handed down to dispose of Hachigen as a Hollow. These never came to happen but it was only later when he discovered the reasons behind such decisions. Deep down Daisuke knew there had to be someone responsible for this which made him question the governing body of the Seireitei.

The exile of his two teachers and the fact that he couldn't connect with his Zanpakutō by any means threw Daisuke in an internal crisis which he handled by abruptly leaving the Kidō Corps in a journey of self-discovery throughout the Soul Society and the most unreachable Rukongai districts. He took nothing but his Zanpakutō with him and vowed to come back only when he had mastered it.

Daisuke journeyed deep into the most unknown parts of Soul Society, to places where no other Shinigami had gone before and the poorest most violent districts such as the Kusajishi and Zaraki District where he finally settled. He came across interesting characters from which he learned and taught a couple of things. Most of Daisuke's time, however, was spent in a cave in the Zaraki District where he meditated for days on end trying to talk to his Zanpakutō spirit until finally, after ten years, it bore some results. These ten years were also spent in intense Hakuda and Zanjutsu training until he mastered these techniques.

Daisuke vows to destroy the Quincy

It took him a hundred years and a lot of effort to truly master his Zanpakutō, a lot longer than expected, which brought him near the peak of his Shinigami training but Daisuke eventually made it back on time to the Seireitei which had once again become a war zone due to the Quincy invasion. This time he would witness what the enemy was really capable of. Immediately he was taken in by the Central 46 who had been looking for him for years and was questioned about the reasons why he had come back and why he had left in the first place. Eventually the chairmen of this institution decided he was good asset on the war against the enemy and allowed him to walk free, he proved his loyalty to the Gotei 13 had remained unmoved, and they decided to give him a grace period then he'd be judged again at the end of the war.

Plot[]

Rukongai Arc[]

A couple of days after Tessai and Hachigen's disappearance from the Soul Society Daisuke finally makes up his mind and decides to leave the Seireitei under the most secretive conditions not telling anyone. He leaves in the quietness of night and informs his friend Nami Kobayashi, who at the moment is the Fourth Seat, that he is going out to reinforce from barriers around the Second Division. Instead, right after leaving the division's headquarters, Daisuke casts a concealing Kidō on himself completely erasing his Reiatsu in order to leave the premises without being noticed. He leaves taking only his Zanpakutō with him.

Having traveled all night Daisuke eventually reaches the outskirts of the fifth district of West Rukongai. Surprised by the immensity of this district he decides to find a place to rest and removes the spells on him judging it is finally safe to do so to then go out and explore its main town. While sitting under a hollow tree Daisuke contemplates his surroundings for a moment before noticing two Reiatsu signatures moving very fast towards him. At the beginning he thinks they might belong to other Shinigami who have tracked him down but decides this is not the case as they are too weak. Soon he finds they belong to a little boy who is running away from a man. Using Shunpo he positions himself between the boy and the man stopping the man on his tracks. He confronts the chaser who argues the boy had stolen from him. Seeing the boy doesn't even have pockets Daisuke tells the man he couldn't have possibly stolen anything but the man doesn't back up and tries to unsuccessfully attack Daisuke who takes him down with a simple hand chop to the back of the head. Later Daisuke takes the boy to his parents and buys a white yukata from a tailor then hides his own Shihakushō in the hollow tree trunk so he can't be recognized as a Shinigami by any other soul.

Daisuke goes on to find a quiet place where he can meditate and talk to his sword and stumbles upon a clearing in the middle of the forest. After placing various spells around him to avoid being seen Daisuke sits down and tries to talk to his Zanpakutō via Jinzen but only silence follows. He doesn't give up and spends the whole afternoon and well into the evening doing this bearing no results. The following morning he decides to leave and continue his journey west.

Eventually Daisuke reaches the Kusajishi district. Here the first sign of life he encounters is an old rundown and abandoned little town. Upon closer inspection he realizes there had been people living there not so long ago and detects a weak Reiatsu signature coming from the end of the village which he investigates. He is surprised to find a wounded girl hiding in the cellar of one of the houses. After assuring her he means no harm and healing her the girl goes on to reveal her name. After asking her what had happened Tsubaki tells Daisuke everyone in the village including her parents had been killed by a vicious gang from the neighboring Zaraki district and breaks down in tears in front of him.

Moved by her story and repulsed by the sheer scale of violence there Daisuke decides to avenge the death of Tsubaki's parents and the townspeople and goes off to find the thugs in the Zaraki district to which she insists on tagging along. Failing to convince her to stay he brings the girl on the trip and he slowly takes a liking to Tsubaki who reminds him of his friend Nami in both appearance and personality. Eventually they make it to the criminal town in a day and a half.

It doesn't take long before they find the hideout of the gang which consists of only five members who are seemingly very strong, each carrying a katana; Daisuke can't figure if they are Asauchi or regular swords but goes with the former thinking only Shinigami have access to Asauchi.

They engage in a fight and Daisuke takes the first three members down fairly easy in a couple of minutes but struggles with the fourth one who has more powerful sword attacks and seems more knowledgeable. It takes Daisuke a bit of fighting but eventually he defeats his opponent using a spell. Their boss proves even harder to beat since he possesses a much more vast knowledge of sword techniques and a higher Reiryoku; for a moment he is at a disadvantage and at the verge of loosing. Then a scream startles Daisuke and he turns around to see Tsubaki being impaled by the man he had just seemingly taken down. The young girl falls to the floor chocking in her own blood and slowly closes her eyes.

The sight makes Daisuke feel sick for a moment, being a member of the Kidō Corps this is his first time seeing someone die. His sight becomes blurred for a fraction of a second then returns back to normal. In that instant he can hear his own heart beating on his chest and blood rushing through his head; a wicked smile forms on Daisuke's face. A moment later the man who had killed Tsubaki lays bifurcated at his feet and Daisuke's blade drips with blood, he is still smiling and breathing heavily.

Daisuke states how all this blood is making him want to see more and uses Shunpo to appear in front of the gang leader who seems shocked by the events that have just taken place. Daisuke goes on to tell him he's tired of using weak techniques and launches himself against the opponent with a maniac expression on his face. Their swords collide in a rain or sparks breaking the ground under their feet. The battle drags out for half an hour and the gang leader starts showing signs of exhaustion but Daisuke's attacks seem to grow stronger by the minute. Daisuke uses a distraction to finally end the encounter cutting the man across the torso with his Zanpakutō.

After the battle is over Daisuke's heart goes back to normal and he finds himself covered in blood, not knowing what had happened he rushes and begins healing Tsubaki rescuing her from the verge of death. While doing this he asks himself if he has really done all of this and simply doesn't remember. His question is answered by a voice inside his head and Mikotomaru finally talks to Daisuke for the first time after two years of silence.

Later that day Daisuke finds out he had just freed a town of fearful citizens from a gang that had been black-mailing them for years taking kids and women alike as slaves for other gangs and shady organizations within other Rukongai districts. He is offered a place to stay and food for the night but turns it down asking them to take care of Tsubaki instead. He then goes on to find a spot where he can quietly talk to his Zanpakutō but is intercepted by a man from the village who tells him the story of what had happened during the fight and the parts Daisuke could not remember.

Shocked by what he had just learned Daisuke secludes himself in a cave far away from the village for a couple of days and talks to Mikotomaru who tells him he was not ready to learn his true power because he is only half a man. Confused he seeks further answers from the sword spirit who refuses to talk, once again going silent. The man whom he had met earlier meets him at the entrance to the cave at the end of the third day and tells him he can help him become whole and more powerful so he doesn't loose control in the middle of a fight again.

Daisuke begins training with this man in both close range hand to hand combat and sword techniques which lasts for roughly nine years. During this time he learns to embrace his whole being as one and discovers he has a bipolar disorder that is triggered by the sight of blood after certain incidents that lead him to loose control again twice. At the end of the ninth year when he finishes the sword training Mikotomaru talks to Daisuke and tells him he is finally ready and worthy of releasing his true power. This begins another decade of training just to master the Shikai techniques.

Author's Note: The Rukongai Arc is currently under construction. Please note this arc lasted a hundred years from two days after the incidents that lead to the exile of Tessai Tsukabishi to the point where Daisuke returns to Soul Society the afternoon of the first attack of the Quincy against Seireitei.

The Thousand-Year Blood War Arc[]

After having trained for a hundred years in Rukongai and having learned his Zanpakutō's true power and Bankai Daisuke shows up the afternoon after the first raid of Quincy attacked Seireitei. He stands outside the gates to the city dressed in his Shinigami robes from a hundred years ago looking up at the raising smoke wondering who had caused so much damage. Having felt the Captain Commander's Reiatsu from kilometers away he knows it has to be someone strong to make the most powerful captain go all out. Suddenly five figures with covered faces surround him, he recognizes one of them as his life-long friend Nami Kobayashi. They order him to come with them and is taken to the underground meeting hall of the Central 46 where the judges are waiting to interrogate him. The judges confront him and ask him why he deserted the Kidō Corps. Daisuke argues that he couldn't live governed by an organization that wouldn't see beyond the tip of their noses and is called an insolent brat by the judges. He is then asked why he's come back to which he answers that the Gotei 13 is about to take a sharp turn this time for good and nothing on the world will stop him from being part of it. One of the judges suggests they imprison him to then be executed for treason at the end of the war. Daisuke has no intentions of being taken prisoner and appeals to the weakness of the judges saying that there would be no one to execute him if they remain within such a weak Kekkai stating a student could've broken it. He offers them his service saying that his loyalty to the Gotei has not shifted in over a hundred years and that he will destroy the enemy lines if given the opportunity. The judges, afraid he is right and sensing the young man is probably one of the strongest war assets they have at the moment, let him walk free with the condition that he keeps them safe and protect the 46 Chambers and the Noble Houses from the Quincy. He agrees and places the whole compound within the Shikai Tenkabe. After making sure everyone is securely within the walls of his spell Daisuke goes on to the battle field to help Squad 4 heal the injured.

The morning of the second invasion Daisuke is sitting in the garden of the Kidō Corps looking at the swimming kois when Nami approaches him asking if the Kekkai she had used really was so weak that he had to replace it with his own. He tells her that it was a strong spell but it simply wasn't enough against the enemy they were facing. She sits by his side remaining silent for a couple of minutes then finally breaks the silence delivering a blow to the back of Daisuke's head which makes him fall face first into the koi pound and calling him a moron for leaving without her. Taking on a more serious tone Nami tells him she had missed him, he answers back saying he had missed her too and that he's come back to stay. He sits back on the edge of the porch and explains the reasons why he left and what he accomplished on the century he was gone telling her he has returned to change the way the Kidō Corps is treated as a mere tool of the Gotei 13.

That afternoon the second raid of the Quincy arrive to the Seireitei, this time with more disastrous consequences as the enemy switches the whole city with their own taking the Shinigami by surprise and killing yet more people and causing more damage. The only part remaining untouched being the Seijōtōkyorin with the wise men of Central 46 and the members of the Noble Houses within it and Muken.

The situation turns dire and Daisuke soon finds himself surrounded by nearly a hundred Soldats of average Lieutenant strength. He tells Nami to stay away and releases his Shikai for the first time after returning wiping out every single enemy in his path and rescuing every member of the corps in need for his help. The attack, however, suddenly turns to favor of the Quincy when a hooded figure with glowing eyes appears before Daisuke killing everyone on its path with a strange power; this Sternritter turns out later to be Pernida Parnkgjas, the left hand of the Soul King. Daisuke struggles to fight this soldier with unique techniques by simply using his Shikai and is forced to activate his Bankai after evacuating the premises in order to fight without hurting anyone. Even though Daisuke enters his maniac phase the outcome of the battle is never really determined because Pernida vanishes in the middle of the battle leaving Daisuke severely injured and drained of most Reiatsu and missing and arm.

Due to his condition Daisuke doesn't have much time to recuperate and uses the last bit of strength left to place the entire facility of the Kidō Corps within the Shikai Tenkabe to prevent any other enemies from attacking. He spends the rest of the invasion in his chambers trying to regain his energy but by the time he is back on his feet the Quincy King has left to the Royal Realm and every other soldier left behind is killed by the Auswählen shortly after.

After gaining his power back Daisuke goes out to once again aiding the wounded but there is not much to do as there are very few survivors among the Shinigami army. He investigates a way to bring the Seireitei back but this proves futile as the technique the enemy had used to swap the cities is completely unknown to him. Walking among the rubble and the destroyed buildings Daisuke eventually comes across a man bound to a chair who he immediately recognizes as Sōsuke Aizen, the man responsible for all the incidents that lead to the exile of Tessai and Hachigen a hundred years ago. Daisuke gets close and looks at Sōsuke for a whole minute neither of them saying a word. Eventually Sōsuke speaks telling Daisuke he has an interesting aura about him. Daisuke replies saying he can't really say the same thing and that a man who goes out of his way in order to gain power through artificial means rather than by hard training and dedication can't really be considered interesting at all. He goes on to taunt Aizen with the years he was sentenced to Muken and tells him that despite not being at all that interesting he is indeed lucky to be breathing fresh air after only two years giving him the example that he was almost executed for leaving the Kidō Corps not hurting anyone on the process. Aizen then tells him that indeed the smell of blood is fresh on the atmosphere. A drop of sweat runs down Daisuke's temple and he turns around to leave, from his chair Aizen tells the young man that a common soul can only bear to look at God for so long. Daisuke vanishes from the spot using Shunpo and reappears a couple of blocks down asking himself just what in the world has Aizen turned to.

Equipment[]

Ofuda
  • Ofuda (お札, Tags): As the Grand Kidō Chief of Soul Society Daisuke has knowledge of different ways to cast spells and one of them are Ofuda, of which he carries a handful with him at any time. Ofuda are mostly charged with powerful barrier spells for easy casting and destructive spells activated upon throwing the paper slips at the enemy, which surprisingly fly like darts instead of pieces of paper. When these charms are used to create a Kekkai they can be removed only by the original caster or by someone with a higher Reiatsu and understanding of the workings behind the barrier or seal. Daisuke has shown that, if needed, he can multiply the number of Ofuda he is using by a simple hand gesture after which the paper tags will summon more of each exponentially creating up to a thousand of them. Dividing a tag, however, weakens the spell it had inscribed upon it originally but has shown to work excellent as a good distraction. There are rare occasions in which dividing the Ofuda will not weaken the spell it was inscribed with, such is the case of some particular bindings and seals.
    • Kōjinka (荒神火, Violent God Fire): Daisuke summons around a hundred Ofuda that arrange themselves floating around the enemy in a circular fashion forming three rings that counter-rotate each other. When he wills it the tags all blow up at the same time in a violent explosion that can be heard miles away. The blast is confined to the space the Ofuda occupy in order to protect the caster or allies and the only exhaust is upwards which in turn creates a fiery pillar-like formation.
    • Jisshīsshō (十死一生, Narrowly Escaping Death): Rarely used by him but still a very effective and powerful spell Daisuke summons eight Ofuda and throws them into the air forming a octagon. Following this a barrier of translucent light appears surrounding the selected area and erasing it and whoever is within it from existence. No matter who was looking at the place they would instantly forget who or what was there until the spell is undone from the inside, only its caster can dissolve it.

Master Swordsman: Even though Kidō Corps are not know for their proficiency with the sword Daisuke is one of the most skilled sword masters in Seireitei. Daisuke mastered this particular branch of fighting mostly due to the fact that his sword is long and very practical for this skill. He was trained by a man in Rukongai in the Zaraki district during the hundred years he was there. This man taught him a more human style of sword fighting that closely resembles Kendō. Daisuke's arsenal also includes Zanjutsu techniques he learned at the Shin'o Academy and mastered over the years. He's shown to use his katana with one or two hands changing between them very easily in the middle of fights. When he uses one hand Daisuke's aim is to mainly grace the opponent with the tip of the katana using it as an extension of his arm, taunting and toying the opponent; he targets upper arms, face, and thighs in this style. Should he hold it with both hands the attacks become more vicious and pack enough power to make the enemy want to avoid his sword. He uses a closer approach towards the enemy in order to deliver strong downward slashes; while using this style he mainly aims for the neck and the upper and lower torso aiming to behead or slice the opponent down the torso in a diagonal fashion.

  • Ryōdan (両断, Bisection): Daisuke doesn't use this technique often but has shown to deliver it with incredible strength not even having to be in physical contact with the target and causing tremendous damage only with the air pressure that comes from his katana. It took him a week to master this technique and to learn to pour his Reiatsu efficiently into the edge of the blade to deliver the most cutting power with only one motion.

Diagram explaining Tsubame Gaeshi

  • Hiken Tsubame Gaeshi (秘剣・ 燕返し, Hidden Sword, Swallow Return): Daisuke holds his sword with both hands to the right side of his body and then calls the name of the technique, then three slashes hit the enemy. The first strike comes at the opponent with great speed, creating a circular horizontal arc . This isn't much trouble on its own, especially with the length of the blade, but the slightly slower second vertical strike meant to block off escape from above, and the third vertical strike to keep the opponent from escaping to the side completely overwhelm the opponent.
  • Hiken Tsubaki no Mai (秘剣・ 椿の舞, Hidden Sword, Dance of the Camellia): This technique was named after the girl he met in the Kusajishi District. Daisuke slashes his sword around with one hand creating a whirlwind of air blades around the enemy preventing them from escaping and even slashing the opponent with deep cuts and in some cases cleanly cutting limbs. He uses it to take down low level Hollows with quick efficiency.

Shunpo Master: As a captain, Daisuke is exceptionally good in the art of Shunpo. He has been known to be able to keep up with other masters of this technique such a Kisuke Urahara and Shunsui Kyōraku. He's able to keep high speeds for extended amounts of times being able to cross a single Rukongai district within the hour.

Hakuda Master: Arguing that physical strength is just as important as Reiryoku when casting Kidō spells Daisuke is in an optimal physical condition and exercises often. He is a very proficient Hakuda master and has been known to take down opponents easily with his bare hands with a single hit. He mainly uses his hands to deliver punches which pack a lot of strength to them and can drive the enemy back for some yards and for the most powerful hits he can send people flying tens of yards and has in one instance shattered an opponent's rib cage with a powerful punch. His fighting style mostly resembles modern-day Karate with a lot of upper body and handwork involved in his technique.

Immense Spiritual Power: Having trained for so many years Daisuke is known to possess one of the strongest Reiryoku in Seireitei. Even while it has been limited to a 20% by the seal placed upon Shinigami passing through the Senkaimon its sheer strength is powerful enough to inflict fear on low level Hollows. During his battle in Hueco Mundo with the Espada Jasmine Viel Daisuke requested the seal to be removed, the result was a blast of Reiatsu so strong it subjugated three of Jasmine's four Fracciones to their knees. His Reiatsu is of a faint purple shade.

  • Masterful Reiatsu Control: Due to his skills and position in the Gotei 13 Daisuke is perfectly capable of completely hiding his spiritual presence. He has also shown to be capable of inducing fear on some captain-level combatants. When enraged Daisuke glows with a light purple aura that tends to electrify the surroundings.
The Uttarabodhi Mudra

The Uttarabodhi Mudra

    • Musō (無想, Thoughtless): Daisuke is a master of this old meditation technique that allows him to use his Reiatsu more efficiently. For this to be done the user must have the word Musō tattooed on their inner wrists or somewhere in their body via a special and very ancient Kidō, its is said this spell involves ritualistic and blood magic in order to be carried out. The downside to Musō is that the user becomes extremely vulnerable during its meditative state in which the user lets go of their physical senses to focus on their spiritual side. Usually those who are masters in the demon arts, like Daisuke, use it to enter a trance-like state that will exponentially enhance their abilities on said art during a certain amount of time, equivalent to how long they were able to meditate in order to harness the Reiatsu. The longest Daisuke was in Musō was 2 hours. To activate this technique Daisuke first unwraps the bandages that cover his tattoo then he makes a hand seal known in Buddhism as the Uttarabodhi Mudra which is said to create a sense of supreme unity with oneself and to represent and enlightened state; the ways to activate Musō may vary between user. The only other known user of this ancient form of meditation is the leader of the Royal Guard Ichibē Hyōsube who created the spell two thousand years ago and has it fixed on the back of his eyes, hence their white appearance when he fights.
    • Teishi (停止, Halt): Is a technique serves to demonstrate Daisuke's masterful Reiatsu control. By reading his opponent's movements Daisuke concentrates his Reiryoku around the area that is going to be attacked effectively slowing down the incoming attack to some degree. This only works with direct attacks involving Hakuda, it doesn't work with Kidō or direct sword attacks and has a time limit of one and a half second before he can react and move out of the way.
    • Kyokushi (棘刺, Thorn Prick): Daisuke puts his index and middle finger together and lets his Reiatsu flow into them making it look like he is holding a needle between his fingers, then using his fastest Shunpo he sneaks behind the person he wants to use this technique on and taps them on the back of the neck. The person being hit feels a small needle-like prick before passing out. By doing this he disrupts the other person's energy flow and prevents them from using their powers temporarily after waking up. However this doesn't work on people with a high Reiatsu or on someone who knows how to control it well.
Daisuke stops an attack with a Bakudō

Daisuke stops an attack with a Bakudō

Kidō Master: Long before starting at the Shin'o Academy Daisuke demonstrated a very stable control over his Reiryoku, when he began studying this control only became better and he proved to be even above some graduated students. Said control allowed him to be highly proficient on his ability with Kidō. He proved himself to be very skilled even during his first year of education and enjoyed reading books about this art and how it came to be one of the most important in Shinigami training. His abilities with Kidō are exceptionally sharp and is able to hide up to two more spells within one to take the enemy by surprise. He is able to perform Kidō spells in the nineties without incantation and some low level ones without even uttering a word or doing any hand gestures, an ability said to be unique to him. Being the Commander of the Kidō Corps Daisuke, by all intents and purposes, masters all forms of this art, be it Fūin Kidō or Kaidō, and he's demonstrated it throughout numerous battles and teaching this branch of Shinigami training at the Shin'ō Academy making special appearances in classes dedicated to its study. Daisuke recognizes talent when he's seen it and has recruited students who have excelled at Kidō into his ranks several times before.

  • Kaidō (回道, Turn Way): Daisuke is very versed in healing Kidō being the first branch of this art that he mastered in order to help a friend who became severely ill during their years at the Shin'o Academy. He is able to heal minor injuries within the minute taking longer in severe wounds but still being faster than some proficient healers.
  • Sōsei Fukkatsu (創世復活, Genesis Rebirth): One of the most advanced healing techniques in the wide arsenal of Kaidō, this spell is capable of bringing someone back from the verge of death in a matter of seconds at the cost of shortening the caster's lifespan. Daisuke has not used this technique but stated he knows it well enough to cast it perfectly on someone should the need raise. An example of a caster using this technique was when Yachiru Unohana used it to keep herself and Kenpachi Zaraki alive while they trained in the deepest level of Muken in order to make Zaraki stronger.
  • Kidō Creation and Modification: As the Grand Kidō Chief Daisuke has shown an excellent ability to fabricate powerful, high leveled Kidō with very specific functions and versatile nature. He created a new version of the Shakonmaku after the Quincy invasion that even though it still leaves the Seireitei visible it places the whole city inside a space accessible only to those with authorization. He's personalized traditional spells to suit his battle style and/or make them more powerful.
  • Bakudō Prowess: Even though he considers himself the least versed on Bakudō Daisuke is able to cast a level 99 Bakudō without incantation and pin a powerful enemy to the ground with great efficiency.
  • Makkura Hengoku (真暗辺獄, True Dark Border Jail): A truly powerful spell this technique creates a cage of around the target that exerts a gravitational force on the body of the person inside the jail. The beams of this enclosure are made of extremely condensed black Reishi similar to that of Kurohitsugi arranged in small hexagons that connect with each other barely wide enough to get a hand through. The person within the jail will usually feel like they have an ocean weighing down on them and find it difficult or even impossible to move but it truly depends on the person within it and an opponent with high Reiatsu will have little to no trouble moving around or even shattering the spell. Like it’s cousin spell Makkura Hengoku is a difficult spell to cast and get right.
Daisuke fires Hadō #95

Daisuke fires Hadō #95

  • Hadō Prowess: Destructive spells are famous for being the most difficult to master but Daisuke has said no one can rival him when it comes to Hadō, and for this he takes great pride. He has been shown firing one spell after the other to the enemy with incredible force without stopping or looking seemingly tired and by simply making a hand gesture. He's been called a monster by people when they see him fire multiple spells at once with the least effort. Daisuke's spells are so powerful they are capable to turning large boulders into dust.
  • Urahadō: Kyūnodō — Shūmatsusō (裏破道: 九の道 ― 終末槍, Hidden Way of Destruction, Ninth Path — Eschaton Spear): This is an evocation spell that summons the spear of the last day. It is one of the most powerful Hidden Ways that only those who have looked deep into the archives of the Kidō Corps know. It’s effect is so devastating that it can obliterate the whole side of a mountain and eradicate a whole forest of tall trees. Daisuke used it on a fight along with a full incantation and deemed it a spell too powerful to release in a highly populated area. The resulting blast threw him off his feet and he himself landed far away from the place where he had cast the spear.
  • Rasenfūshin (螺旋風芯, Spiral Wind Core): This technique modified by Daisuke himself is a twist on it’s parent spell Tenran, it was developed while he was still the Third Seat of the Kidō Corps and power-wise places it on the high 80’s level Hadō spells, a testament to Daisuke's intellect and understanding of the Kidō mechanics. Rasenfūshin packs an incredible punch of energy that is capable of sending large boulders flying as if they were leaves. Cast with a full incantation it is capable of leveling a whole forest merely in a couple of seconds and its pure raw power can push the caster back a couple of steps. At half power this technique is capable of stopping incoming attacks and still deliver some destruction.
Incantation: Incessant gale from the Avīci rise and flatten the world at your quake. Stir the land with your rage. Roar like a thousand lions, stump with the force of an army. Throw the world into chaos and never let it settle.
Raiden casts Rairyūsatsu on top of a building

Raiden casts Rairyūsatsu on top of a building

  • Urahadō: Rokunodō — Rairyūsatsu (裏破道: 六の道 — 雷流殺, Hidden Way of Destruction, Sixth Path — Thunder Flow Murder): The user points a hand towards the sky and summons a giant Qilin made out of lightning capable of dwarfing its caster which comes crashing down at the enemy and is powerful enough to shatter barriers cast even by Kidō masters and destroy a whole building into smithereens.
  • Ketsudō (血道, Way of the Blood): This particular branch of Kidō is an extension of sacrificial spells in which the blood of the caster must be given forth in order to create an attack. Given blood is the essence of someone's life Ketsudō spells are inherently stronger than regular Hadō and Bakudō spells and pack a more powerful and sinister nature to them. Daisuke has shown a liking to practicing this art in the middle of fights in which he's gotten injured; he once stated that Ketsudō is just a way of giving spilt blood a purpose and that he won't cut himself in order to perform them since he's not masochist.
  • Ketsugi: Yamata no Orochi (血犠・八岐大蛇, Blood Sacrifice, Eight Branched Great Snake): Smearing his right hand with blood Daisuke makes his fingers into a claw like shape calling out the spell name as he does this. Following this eight great snakes composed of bright red energy shoot forward to attack the enemy bearing their sharp fangs and biting and destroying everything that stands in front of them. This attack has a very wide range and is very destructive, it can also be used to attack many targets at the same time. The snakes are big enough to be seen from a considerable distance away.
  • Ketsugi: Bakushigetsu (血犠・縛糸血, Blood Sacrifice, Binding Threads of Blood) Like the previous spell Daisuke uses his right hand to cast it. Upon calling the name five threads of red energy emerge from the tip of his fingers and shoot forward to wrap themselves around the enemy. Even though it is a binding technique putting too much force into it can cause the threads to sink into the skin and create deep cuts in arms and legs or even be fatal to the point where it could slice a Hollow into chunks.
  • Kekkai Master: Daisuke is regarded as the best barrier master in the whole Soul Society having created the current version of the Shakonmaku surrounding the Seireitei. He's able to create Kekkai that completely erases the existence of an object or a place. During the Quincy invasion he was tasked with placing the chamber of Central 46 and their members, including members of the Noble Houses, inside a spacial displacement barrier that placed their entire living compound, the Seijōtōkyorin, within a pocket dimension that the Quincy Shadow had no access to.
Daisuke's Shikai Tenkabe barrier surrounds the Kidō Corps Division

Daisuke's Shikai Tenkabe barrier surrounds the Kidō Corps Division

  • Shikai Tenkabe (四界天壁, Four Boundaries Heavenly Wall): A technique exclusive to Daisuke it was used during the first Quincy invasion on the premises of the Kidō Corps in order to protect the treasures that lay within the walls of this institution and that could have had devastating consequences should they have fallen on the enemy's hands. It consist of a Kekkai in the shape of a sphere that warps the space around it four times over and makes it virtually impossible to access from the outside by normal means and is designed to keep things outside rather than in.
  • Kūkan Kaiki (空間回帰, Spatial Regression): This technique, mostly used on people who have lost limbs on battles, is capable of regressing time on the area over which it is being cast. Daisuke used this spell once on himself to restore his lost arm after sacrificing it to a Gisei Hadō. It is, like every other spell, limited by the caster's Reiatsu.
  • Kyōgoku Manipulation: Given the nature of Daisuke's Zanpakutō Shikai he is able to use it to manipulate the flow of energy between Soul Society and the Kyōgoku that form around it as a cause of some souls that have been ejected from the cycle of reincarnation. Given this Daisuke is able to open dimensional rips to enter his own personal Kyōgoku at any time and from there move to either Hueco Mundo or the Human World without anyone noticing, not even the scientists at the Twelfth Division.

Zanpakutō[]

Mikotomaru (神言丸, "Sacred Word"): Mikotomaru takes the shape of a slender and slightly elongated Shirasaya with a straight blade roughly 55 inches long , which puts it in the Ōdachi category, and a beige handle and scabbard that is hidden under a layer of ofuda sticking to it's surface. Due to it's length Daisuke has learned to use it effectively in battles to take on enemies in quick Zanjutsu attacks, a strange movement very few would expect from a Kidō Master. Daisuke has shown a good control of his Zanpakutō and is able to move between the released and sealed states with simply an upwards sweeping motion of his hand. Sometimes he will seal his Shikai state to fight an opponent exclusively using sword techniques.

  • Shikai: Mikotomaru's Shikai command is “Nagarero” (流れろ, flow). Its Shikai state takes the shape of an iron Buddhist khakkhara with six rings in one end and a tassel made from gold threads where the staff and the main rings meet. Daisuke is quite skilled with his staff and has shown proficient handling of it being able to fight melee for as long as he wants without having to use any of its special techniques.
Shikai Special Ability: Mikotomaru has the latent ability of absorbing Daisuke's Reiatsu in its sealed state and storing it within itself until it is needed. This unique property allows Daisuke to, upon releasing the Shikai, access 10% of the Reiatsu Mikotomaru has taken from him. Considering how long his Zanpakutō has been doing this, for the past 800 years or so, Daisuke will release an immense amount of Reiatsu when activating his Shikai which is sometimes mistakenly compared to the release of a Bankai. His Shikai allows Daisuke to use a wide range of powers that go from performing spells with the staff making use of the Reiatsu reserve to using Mikotomaru's original nine Shikai abilities, the Kuji (九字, Nine Syllables) all by carefully controlling the flow power within and around him.
  • Rinshi Makyō Banzai (臨死魔鏡卍歳, All Hail the Demonic Mirror of Near Death): Strength of the body. Daisuke raises his staff diagonally and creates a transparent, hexagonal shield that possesses considerable strength and is even able to stop a direct hit from an Espada level Arrancar with enhanced Hierro. It is big enough to cover his whole torso and head. This shield is limited to a time frame of three seconds and its strength is proportional to the amount of Reiatsu he pours into it, should he underestimate the power of an attack the shield could break hurting him in the process. At full strength it could be compared to Dankū being able to stop considerably destructive attacks.
  • Pyōryō Kongō Banzai (兵力金剛卍歳, All Hail the Vajra of Military Strength): Directing internal energy. After calling the name of the technique Daisuke reaches up with his right hand Holding Mikotomaru as if it were a Japanese yari, it then starts to glow and crackle with electricity. He then proceeds to throw the now spear looking staff but only the energy shrouding it launches forward and he is left with Mikotomaru intact on his hand. This attach packs such a strength that it often breaks the sound barrier and cracks the ground under Daisuke's feet. The energy spear has great piercing capabilities but in case it finds a hard to penetrate target it detonates in a blast capable of erasing a small hill upon impact. The downside to this technique is that it mostly only works once and if the enemy is capable of dodging it then it becomes practically obsolete.
  • Tōsō Chūwa Banzai (闘争中和卍歳, All Hail the Peace Within Conflict): Living in harmony. This technique is used as a distraction. Daisuke raises the khakkhara in the air creating a small orb that flashes with an intensity to rival that of the sun for a few seconds. It creates a light which blinds the enemy and gives Daisuke enough time to avoid a possible confrontation or as a distraction in order to attack from another vantage point. In a dark night the light from this ability can be seen from miles away. A person with good enough Reikaku could simply close their eyes and sense where Daisuke has moved rendering his effort useless, lest he hides his presence.
  • Shabyō Jishu Banzai (者病治手卍歳, All Hail the Hands Which Heal the Sick): Healing the self and others. Placing a hand on his injury or on someone else’s Daisuke is able to instantly heal wounds. He has been able to heal near-fatal lesions and restore a person’s missing limb but is limited to the amount of Reiatsu Daisuke has at the moment or if the injury was delivered by someone with a Reiatsu greater than his. If the missing limb was lost via a sacrificial art it could prove impossible to restore it and Spatial Regression would have to be used instead. This technique is not flawless since he’s been unable to heal moderately severe injuries after a big fight when he is depleted of stamina.
  • Jinkei Kashin Banzai (陣形火神卍歳, All Hail the Battle Formation of the Fire God): Premonition of danger, binding the enemy to avoid a dangerous situation. This ability of Mikotomaru’s Shikai creates three concentric rings of fiery looking energy around the enemy waist that possess an incredible binding force and pin the enemy to the spot preventing them to move or even perform any ability. If the enemy has strong enough Reiatsu they can break free of the bindings.
  • Rekkyō Happyō Banzai (列強八方卍歳, All Hail the Eight Directions of the Great Power): Mastery of time and space. This is a space displacement technique unique to Mikotomaru's Shikai and so Daisuke received approval from Central 46 to use it without any repercussions to his person; he is however, like every other person in Soul Society, forbidden to use space-time Kidō spells. Using this technique Daisuke can switch places with a chosen target that cannot be the person he is fighting. For example, if there is a boulder behind his opponent upon activating this technique he will switch places with the rock and instantly appear on the other side. For the technique to work Daisuke needs to have visual confirmation of the object or person meaning that he cannot switch if he is not able see the target with the naked eye. He’s shown to be able to use this ability with people exchanging positions in an instant. He's said that the bigger the target the more Reiatsu he needs to use.
  • Kaijin Kaigan Banzai (皆人開眼卍歳, All Hail the Opening of the Eyes of All People): Knowing the minds of others and where everyone is. Daisuke has said this is technique is a combination between the Bakuō 58 Kakushitsuijaku and 77 Tenteikūra. He is able to know the location of those he chooses as well as deliver messages to them telepathically. Daisuke is known to have used it once in a massive scale to communicate with everyone within the Seireitei but could only establish the connection for ten seconds as his mind became overwhelmed by its massive scale.
  • Zenka Tenken Banzai (前科天譴卍歳, All Hail the Heavenly Punishment of Past Sin): Divine punishment. This is Mikotomaru’s most powerful Shikai technique. When this punishment is ready to be carried out a white light falls from the heavens bathing the enemy’s entire figure and destroying their physical form turning him or her and everything caught on it’s path into ambient Reishi. This technique is, as are all of Mikotomaru’s Shikai abilities, limited by Daisuke’s Reiatsu and should he target someone stronger than himself the opponent could come out walking bearing mild to severe burns or simply pass out.
  • Zairi Chiboku Banzai (在未知目卍歳, All Hail the Eye Which Knows that Which is Yet to Be): Premonition of danger. Daisuke uses this technique with a combination of Time Progression on his left eye. This let's him see three seconds into the future to know that which is yet to be. Since the mastering of Mikotomaru he's only used it once as he's stated it gives him terrible head aches and weakens his sense of sight on that eye. He only uses this technique with incredibly fast opponents or when he comes across someone too chaotic to read.
  • File:Daisuke Bankai Form.png

    Daisuke's Bankai transformation

Bankai: Tenshō Shingon Man’in (天照神言卍印, 10,000 Seals of the Heaven-Illuminating Sacred Words): To activate his Bankai Daisuke holds his khakkhara horizontally in front of him, after calling the Bankai name Mikotomaru starts glowing with an intensity that can blind the enemy for a moment, after the light dims the iron khakkhara has now turned a pure white but the golden tassel remains the same. Daisuke is draped in silk white robes and has a white ribbon of cloth called a tenne floating around his shoulders behind him. While in this state some people have said they cannot feel Daisuke’s Reiatsu and this is to some extent true since the Bankai activation gives him a few minutes of transcendency, a testament of how far he’s taking his Bankai mastery.
Bankai Special Ability: Just like it's Shikai Mikotomaru's Bankai makes use of the stored Reiatsu it absorbed from Daisuke, only that this time it will grant him access to the remaining 90% of the power. This release of Reiatsu comes with such a strength and it is so condensed around him it will usually obliterate rocks around him and could potentially put anyone who is close to him in peril of being suffocated under its sheer pressure if they are not strong enough to counter its effect. Given the power of Mikotomaru to reshape Daisuke's Reiatsu in Bankai it comes together to form independent and seemingly ethereal hands behind him that are connected to him like limbs from his own body and over which he has complete control. These hands are completely functional and real making them able to grab the enemy, throw punches and even cast Kidō, which is what Daisuke mainly uses them for. Normally a hundred hands are created automatically upon Bankai activation but remain invisible to the enemy unless Daisuke makes them visible. In addition these limbs each have an eye in the middle of their palms which is also fully functional and Daisuke is able to see through them; the more eyes Daisuke opens the more sensory input he receives putting his central nervous system under considerable strain. Over the years Daisuke has trained himself to open more eyes with the passage of time and is currently able to open all thousand of them for five seconds.
  • Multiple Spell Casting: Most of the times Daisuke activates Bankai he also goes into Musō to use his Reiatsu more efficiently and be able to handle the visual input of at least a hundred eyes at the same time. Accessing Musō also gives him the ability to equally distribute his Reiryoku throughout a hundred arms to cast multiple spells at the same time, each holding the same level of power.
  • Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō (飛竜撃賊震天雷炮, Flying Dragon-Striking Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon): Daisuke has shown to be able to cast up to ten of this spell at the same time in a circular formation around the enemy creating a devastating explosion that could be seen on the other side of Seireitei and created a mushroom cloud.
  • Ten'nō Hagoromo (天王羽衣, Feathered Mantle of Heaven’s King): Activated automatically after the Bankai release this ability relies on the Tenne that forms around Daisuke’s shoulders. Ten’nō Hagoromo gives him the rare trait of flight without using Reishi footholds. Daisuke usually surprises his opponents when he suddenly takes flight to avoid incoming attacks; he is able to fly at high speeds greater even that his Shunpo but he finds this eventually strains him greatly.
  • Tenkeibō (天瓊矛, Heavenly Jeweled Spear): Since Daisuke's monk staff lacks any cutting power as they are originally not intended to do harm but he has developed this technique for his Bankai in which he holds the staff as if it were a spear in the middle of its length; following this a long blade is formed of translucent white energy on the opposite end of the shaft. It has as much cutting power as a katana blade and he uses it to fight more closely to the enemy and have a longer reach while not relying completely on Kidō or energy attacks. He is able to hold his ground fairly good with this technique. The raw power behind his swings are strong enough that should he miss the target and hit the ground he's shown to be able to break large chunks of it away and send them flying fairly easy.
  • Senju Tenryoku (千手天力, A Thousand Hands of Heavenly Power): This power materializes a thousand hands around Daisuke that remain invisible to the enemy and doing a punching motion with his own hand all the other limbs follow the same motion overwhelming the opponent with a series of a thousand punches that pack a destructive force compared to very high leveled Kidō, all within a very small time frame. This technique often makes the enemy question where all the strength came from as they are not able to see the attack coming at them unless Daisuke makes the hands visible.
  • Tenshō Shingon Man'in: Senju Tenjin Gaihi: (天照神言卍印・千手天神外皮, 10,000 Seals of the Heaven-Illuminating Sacred Words: Husk of the Thousand-Armed Heavenly God): The ultimate technique in Daisuke’s Bankai arsenal, he slams his monk staff against the ground causing it to shake and break behind him. From the ground sprouts a translucent statue several stories high that wraps itself around Daisuke's figure in order to protect him from danger. This statue has the appearance of a meditating buddha-like figure with a peaceful face, a thousand arms reaching to the sky, and a third eye in the middle of his forehead. The statue points the index finger of each hand towards the sky in a sign known as the tarjani mudra in Buddhist religion which is said to ward off evil, around each finger forms a chakram of light with 108 serrated edges used for the ultimate destruction of the enemy. When the statue is ready to carry the sentence its face changes into an angry expression and each hand swings the chakram around in order to hit the enemy from every direction. Upon contact they cause an incredible explosion that can be felt miles away and seen as a bright flash that can light the darkest night. For that reason Daisuke was forbidden from using that ability within the Seireitei by the Central 46. He can only use this ability once a year for according to him that’s how long it takes the God to awaken, this ability also drains Daisuke Reiatsu and immediately returns Mikotomaru to its sealed form from which it can’t be awaken for another week.

Weakness[]

Bipolar Disorder: Daisuke's weakness is his bipolar disorder which can sometimes can get on the way of his normal life without it meaning to. When he goes into this rage mode he emerges exhausted and mostly drained of Reiatsu because the nature of his attacks become more powerful and consume more stamina. He also seems to disregard all life in front of him while in this stage and both friend or foe could experience the worst of him.

Quotes[]

  • (To one of Jazmine's Fracciones): You want me to take out my Zanpakutō? I wonder why such a young and lively girl like you has suicidal tendencies.
  • (To Tessai): Sensei, I have come back to Seireitei to honor your name and make the Kidō Corps a great organization within the Gotei 13.
  • (To Mayuri Kurotsuchi): Kidō is the essence of the world, older than the history of Seireitei, to say technology will one day replace it is just like saying a man can live without oxygen.

Trivia[]

  • Daisuke's name translates to Great Helper and his last name means White Earth.
