Main article: Blut

Blut (血装 (ブルート), burūto; German for "Blood", Japanese for "Blood Guise") is an advanced Quincy technique that greatly augments attack and defense capabilities.

Overview

Blut is a special ability, used by the Quincy, that affords them inhuman levels of defense, similar to an Arrancar's Hierro. Using it, a Quincy can survive even a severe broken neck, along with other fatal wounds, much like Shinigami do, despite being Human. It functions by the Quincy allowing Reishi to flow into their blood vessels, allowing them to gain the superhuman abilities aforementioned. The primary weakness of Blut, as noted by Kisuke Urahara, is that none of the forms of Blut can be used in conjunction with one another, primarily due to the fact that they each use a different reishi system from one another. Pure-blooded Quincy are able to obtain it naturally, while mixed-blooded Quincy need to learn it through training.

Variations

Blut Variations
Name Technique Appearance

Blut Vene (静血装 (ブルート・ヴェーネ), burūto vēne; German for "Blood Vein", Japanese for "Stilled Blood Guise")

The defensive form of Blut that grants the user inhuman durability, represented by a faint pattern tracing the veins beneath the surface of their skin, which is only visible on the afflicted area when struck. If consciously kept at full power, even attacks delivered by a Shinigami's Bankai can potentially be negated completely.

However, despite the considerable defense afforded by this technique, it seemingly isn't absolute and can be torn using sufficient power. It also impairs one's speed to a certain degree.

Blut Vene Anhaben (佩用の静血装 (ブルート・ヴェーネ・アンハーベーン), Burūto Vēne Anhābēn; German and Japanese for "Wearing the Blood Vein") A technique that allows Yhwach to extend his Blut Vene outside of his body to create a forcefield that blocks incoming attacks. It can easily block Kidō spells up to Bakudō #62 even when employed by a member of the Royal Guard. The way the technique works allows it to consume everything around it in order to maintain its generation, even living material. When activated it creates the vein pattern on the surface of whatever it attempts to consume.
Blut Arterie (動血装 (ブルート・アルテリエ), burūto aruterie; German for "Blood Artery", Japanese for "Moving Blood Guise") The offensive form of Blut that grants the user inhuman attack power. This technique is the only thing capable of ensuring that a Quincy's attacks are able to significantly damage a Bankai-wielding Shinigami.
Blut Netzwerk (網状血装 (ブルート・ネットワーク), burūto nettowāku; ; German for "Blood Network", Japanese for "Vascular Blood Guise") A form of Blut that affords Quincy increased magical capabilities; reinforcing Gintō and Zaubersprüche. It crafts a net of Blut, similar in appearance to the markings that appear on a Quincy's arm in the other two variations, which continually absorbs spiritual energy and particles and funnels it into the Quincy, allowing their spells to have tremendous power behind them. This net of Blut is also able to connect to spiritual beings, siphoning their reishi for the Quincy. This can be countered if the being in question notices.
