War for the King's Seal is the sequel to the 9th Division Assault arc, the Blank period arc, and the New Substitute arc, all of which comprised the early chapters of the proposed site-wide Fanon Canon. War for the King's Seal exists separate to the actual FC, however, though the stories took place in 2019, the same as the original FC storyline. As such, War for the King's Seal is a divergent timeline.

The work was primarily authored by Kenji-Taichō, with further concepts and stories drawn from collaboration with APS, Fire, Ashy, Sig, Shonen, Saris, and Brave. Furthermore, Shonen authored ASH BONE SAGA in January 2022, which is itself connected to War for the King's Seal.

Akira Hiroshi, Kenji Hiroshi, and Van Satonaka served as the primary protagonists, with Hotaru Hiroshi, Averian, and Sakae serving as the main antagonists. Kei Yume, Rose, and Michael Davis, amongst others, served as supporting characters.

The Gotei 13 has rebuilt jointly from the events of the Blood War and the mysterious Assault on the 9th Division that cost Captain Kazuya Kuchiki his life, although cultists and discontent have remained an issue throughout the years.

Furthermore, although relatively peaceful, a situation has been brewing between the remnants of the Wandenreich and the remaining Espada in Hueco Mundo, though nothing has come from the bluster thus far outside isolated skirmishes. In addition, something more ancient appears to be fanning the flames and wiping the local Hollow population of the Forest of Menos and beyond into a growing frenzy.

If that weren't enough, a group of disillusioned Shinigami headed by a mysterious Visored have designs on the Ōin, though why is anyone's guess, and a second group has appeared whose intentions are likewise unknown.

In addition to the growing chaos, Captains Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi and Shūhei Hisagi are openly attacked in the heart of the Seireitei by none other than a seemingly brainwashed and very-much-alive Kensei Muguruma, and 9th Division Lieutenant Kenji Hiroshi has taken it upon himself to train a new Substitute Shinigami.

Further to Akira's fears, his father's ancient enemy has resurfaced, and is no longer content to gather his power quietly in the depths of Hueco Mundo. From battles with Gundinger and Ashido to battles with the powers that be in Hueco Mundo, Averian only seems content devouring the strongest reiatsu he can find, and it seems his end-goal is the Soul Society. Furthermore, the Kyūtai are preparing to take centre stage, the return of Fushichō incensing the Reikon Kyuuban.

By all indications, the recent years of peace have come to an end.
