Balancers (調整者 (バランサー), Baransā; Japanese for "Regulators") was the term given to Shinigami in ancient times.[1][2] This was because they maintained an equal amount of Souls within both the Human World and Soul Society to prevent mutual destruction of both worlds.[3]
