Arata (新, arata) is a member of the resurgent Imawashī, having once been a member in both the 4th Division and 12th Division in the Gotei 13. He is part of the division responsible for the destruction of the Six Directions, and thus takes orders from Dastan Shiba.

Appearance[]

Arata was dismissively referred to as a "tech-type" by Kensei, who revealed his prior employment by the Gotei 13. He is an intellectual with a long, thin appearance who is rarely seen without his high-necked black over-coat.[1]

Personality[]

Arata is described as an "intellectual" and "tech-type". As a member of the 12th Division he was often called an oddball, a stigma commonly attached to the members (both current and former) of the 12 Division.[1]

History[]

Arata was once a Shinigami of the Gotei 13, serving first in the 4th Division as a medic and later the 12th Division as a researcher.[1] He would later abandon the Gotei 13 and join up with the resurgent Imawashī.[2]

Powers and abilities[]

Great Spiritual Energy: Arata was one of six individuals pointed out by Kensei and Shūhei to be on-par with typical Captain-class Shinigami.[1]

Kidō Expertise: Katashi fired an unknown Hadō spell that was ultimately blocked by Kentaro's usage of Niten.[2] As a former medic and researcher in the 4th and 12th Divisions respectively, it can be inferred that Arata was skilled in the use of a wide range of Kidō abilities.[1]

Researcher: As a former member of the 12th Division in the Gotei 13, Arata is a skilled scientist and researcher.[1]
