Amahime Momoniwa (ももにわ あまひめ, Momoniwa Amahime) was the captain of the 13th Division in the Gotei 13, being part of the founding generation. She previously worked as an instructor at Shin'ō Academy, where she taught two optional classes on tea ceremony and ikebana.

Personality

At first sight, Amahime can be considered a ninny and hyperactive individual, who has a strange interest for old Japanese music and female beauty tricks. However, her sweet and playful personality is just a façade that she puts on when meeting new people. In spite of her frail appearance, Amahime is a pugnacious and cool-headed woman, who has a strong life philosophy, even in the most critical situations. During her time as a captain for the 13th Division, Amahime took her responsibilities seriously and expected the same attitude from her subordinates, as well as competence. She also came to be known as a severe and fearsome individual, who does not accept a "no" for an answer. Amahime started to be respected especially because of her menacing spiritual power, but also her skills as a swordsman and anger issues. From time to time she liked to psychologically abuse her former lieutenant or other Seat officers for their lack of proficiency.

Amahime also came to be known as a silver-tongue woman, who masters the art of lies and likes to deceive the others. She also likes to play the koto in her free time and pay Yamamoto occasional visits and share with him a cup of tea. Amahime is interested in keeping up with the fashion trends and trying new beauty tricks in order to maintain her younger appearance. The female Shinigami has a column titled "Momoniwa Way in Beauty Tricks" (ももにわの美しさの秘訣, Momoniwa no utsukushi-sa no hiketsu), which is very popular among the noble class women.
