Aiken Kuchiki (朽木 藍圏, Kuchiki Aiken) is a Shinigami and member of the prestigious Kuchiki Clan. He was the 11th Head of the Kuchiki family, succeeding his own mother, he was also the Lieutenant of the Sixth Division of the Gotei 13 under Captain Regulus Armiger before taking his place on a temporary basis after Armiger was declared deceased.
Appearance[]
Aiken is a man of above average height and of Asian descent. He has shoulder length straight gray hair which is kept up in intricate white headpieces known as kenseikan (牽星箝, lit. Star-Pulling Insert), with one of them resting on the left and two on the right side of his head. The hair passing through these kenseikan is dyed a light shade of blue and end in tufts behind his head. His facial features were once considered effeminate but have become rough with age, riddled by a great many wrinkles. He has thin long eyebrows and small rounded eyes with green pupils. He wears the standard uniform of the Shinigami made up of a black short-sleeved kosode with a white shitagi underneath alongside a black hakama and white hakama-himo. Covering his feet are a pair of white tabi and waraji. As he has no right arm, the right sleeve of his uniform has been greatly shortened. As well, his left forearm is covered by a long black glove that leave his fingers exposed.
In his youth his hair was black as is common among the Kuchiki line, at that time he had also adorned four kenseikan as the next-in-line after his mother, earning a fifth when he succeeded her. As his time has long since past he has given up two of those kenseikan.
Personality[]
Aiken is every bit as much an aristocrat as his grandchildren, something that had been ingrained in him even as a child. He is cool and aloof, at almost all times regardless of his actual emotional state. While distant he does his best not to seem apathetic towards others, generally greeting individuals warmly and not straying from contact with others. This way he gives off a slight gentle air, perhaps aided by his age. There is always at least a hint of emotion in his visage no matter how hidden that lets others know that he is there for them. He was much more tense about it in his youth, coming across as severe and arrogant, in his eyes no one was worth his time, not even Isayo Kasumiōji, a fellow noble of high status at the time, or Yoruaka Shihōin who was ostensibly a friend. He was incapable of accepting any slight made against him, and the loss of his right arm to Jojishi Kyōjin hit him particularly hard - to the point that he became obsessed with fighting the man to avenge himself. Though he has greatly mellowed out since that time, his youth has left its mark on him and as such Aiken always comes across as subdued. Though he may be friendly, depressed, passionate or regretful, his emotions are always hinted at, never worn openly.

Enhanced Strength: (Under Construction) Enhanced Durability: (Under Construction) |
Master Swordsman: One of of the four basic schools of Shinigami combat, a part of the Zankensoki. Zanjutsu is the primary field of combat for use of a Zanpakutō and the most likely for any Shinigami to become an expert in outside of those who consciously choose to specialize in something else. Whilst primarily governing over sword combat it also extends to a great number of other fields focusing on weaponry, expanded constantly by Shinigami bringing in new forms of study to keep up with the unique forms of their Zanpakutō, this includes anything from tantōjutsu to sōjutsu and all other number of weapon styles. In addition to styles that cover the use of specific weapons, Zanjutsu also deals with various arts within itself such as Kendō (剣道, Kendo; "Way of The Sword").
Shunpo Master: Hohō is one of the four basic skills of the Shinigami and one of the most often used right behind Zanjutsu. It is the combat skill that covers movement, footwork in particular. It has counterparts in the Quincy Hirenkyaku and Arrancar Sonído. Through training and concentration one can increase the speed that Hohō grants them as well as govern how skilled they are with the techniques within this specific art. The most important of which is Shunpo (瞬歩, Flash Steps), a technique that allows its practitioners to move faster than the eye can follow, appearing akin to teleportation to those not in the know. The foremost masters of Shunpo are often regailed through out the Seireitei for their skill, such was the case with Tenjirō Kirinji who was nicknamed "Lightning-Fast Tenjirō" (雷迅の天示郎, Raijin no Tenjirō) before his ascension to the Royal Guard, and, Nephthys who carries the nickname "Godspeed" (速神, Sokushin). Further still, Shunpo has its own techniques known as the Way of Onmitsu (隠密歩法, Omitsu Shunpo) that provide more specific combat applications to the otherwise supplementary skill. High Spiritual Power: All Spiritual beings, and Humans, have some degree of Reiryoku within themselves. When that degree is over a certain limit the possessor is granted all kinds of abilities of supernatural nature which are generally more powerful the higher that degree is. One thing available to all spiritual beings is the ability to emit Reiatsu (霊圧, Spiritual Pressure) and is how others most often quantify the power of others when compared to the pressure they can emit. Battles between spiritual beings are decided purely by the strength of ones spiritual power, with a large enough gap between them making one side practically invulnerable whilst the other would be easily wiped out by simple attacks, if not the side effects of spiritual pressure alone. |
Dōshōkira (道照明, The Torch that Lights the Way) is a small wakizashi, barely 28 centimetres (11") in length with a simple black hilt and tsuba that is shaped like a diamond and accompanying scabbard, the . The sheath of his Zanpakutō is tightly wrapped in a light-blue silken cloth that resembles the silver-white windflower scarf that has been passed down from leader to leader of the Kuchiki clan for generations. It is a fire-type Zanpakutō, and passively creates a great many embers whenever the blade moves unless kept in its sheath. A thousand years ago the sword took the form a tachi, its decreased size since then has been remarked as a result of his weakening spiritual energy.
