The Fourth Division (四番隊, yonbantai; "Squad 4" in the English Dub) is one of the divisions in the Gotei 13. It is headed by Captain Isane Kotetsu and Lieutenants Hanataro Yamada and Kei Toyashima.
Organization[]
The 4th Division is organized like the other divisions in the Gotei, with 30 seated officers and hundreds more unranked Shinigami. It is further divided into units, with each of the seated officers in charge of one of the units.
Special Duties[]
The 4th Division is charged with the relief and care of wounded Shinigami. They also serve as the forensics unit, and it is up to them to identify the dead who cannot be recognized. Due to the sheer amount of work that they receive, the division is no longer expected to clean and maintain the Seireitei.
