The Second Division (二番隊, nibantai), commanded by Captain Hawke Kori and Lieutenant David Kori, is one of the Thirteen Divisions of the Gotei 13. This Division is known as being the foremost Division within the Gotei 13 to practice the various physical aspects of Hakuda.
Overview[]
History[]
The Second Division was formed when Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto and The Philosophers, headed by Garian Shinjo and Anika Shihōin, formed an alliance, which eventually paved the way for the formation of the Seireitei and the creation of the Gotei 13 as a peace-keeping organization. The earliest members of the Second Division included Anika, who served as its leader, as well as those who served as her disciples prior to the establishment of the Gotei 13; Anika was one of the so-called criminals. Anika's disciples served as the first members of what would eventually be known as the Onmitsukidō, with Anika gaining the title of "Flash Goddess" (瞬神, shunshin).
Yoruichi Shihōin was a descendant of Anika who would go onto strengthen the ties between the Second Division and the Onmitsukidō, as well as hold the title of Captain and Flash Goddess respectively. Seated officers of the Second Division served in the Onmitsukidō. The organization first created by Anika thus came under the jurisdiction of the Gotei 13. One of Yuroichi's disciples, Suì-Fēng, eventually rose to lead both organizations following the departure of Yuroichi.
