I mean, the dead ones don't necessarily even need to be replaced. I'm personally just saying Mayuri needs to either join them or die. Only necessary one is the sword guy.

Well, according to the LN, none of them are dead. Ichibe is able to resurrect them so long as the Soul King's palace is in tact, since they're essentially "tied down" spiritually to the palace. As long as it exists in some form, they can't die.

Then I say we keep them? Kill Mayuri honestly tho...

Are they really needed? Unless the Soul King is going to be threatened, I don't see a point in having the Royal Guard involved at all.

As I said, it's not something that has to be decided right now, but something to just think about, is all. I don't see them getting involved until late stages in the plot, so there's plenty of time to make actual decisions on that.

IMHO, we should keep the canon Royal Guard. I don't see any reason to replace any of their members. Regarding their involvement, I've got a plan for Ichibē Hyōsube but like Sei said, it's for later and we'll see.

My proposal is this: Keep the RG as it is. Remember their bodies are the Ouken: the keys to the Soul King palace, so their function doesn't necessarily have to do with their power/fighting abilities/whether they're used in the FC or not. We should keep them just for canon consistency, but I really don't see what role they'd have in the FC.

THEN I propose we make a "vanguard" of the RG. I know that sounds dumb (guard of the guard??) but it would allow people to create RG-LEVEL characters (Like Izari) without actually having to have them become one of the Ouken/be tied down to the Palace. That way IF we need the RG to take part in the FC at any point, people's fanon characters, who are the vanguard and the characters who are actually being RP'd, can be the active fighters who leave the palace to come down and fight or whatever, while the Ouken maintain stability above.

Actually, on that note, I want to suggest something for that vanguard.

We call them the "Yatagarasu". I think it'd be fitting; a vanguard unit of the Royal Guard that maintains open communication with the Gotei 13 (the bird of heaven that comes down to earth). And we can put in those RG fighters into the Yatagarasu. I could believe that Ichibe thought this would be a good plan after what happened with Yhwach, thinking there needs to be more interaction between the Palace and the Seireitei, but since they cannot leave the Palace for very long, this was their solution.
